Description: Trouble finds K'lvin again at Dolphin Cove.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 2 of Turn 8

K'lvin couldn't bear it, the final moment in the air above River Bluff. What once had been a happy picture of a beautiful place to live was now crushed, broken in, destroyed. But he had to move on, he had to leave, he had two daughters looking to him. Kaliha was so young that she would never remember Bahji. He didn't know if that was a blessing or curse.

**Take us to our new home then.** K'lvin told Xmrenth. He had already been to Dolphin Cove to take his meager possessions, and what he had been able to salvage for the girls. Now, it was just him, Kylena and Kaliha on Xmrenth's coppery neckridge.

His eyes zeroed in one last time where his weyr with Bahji had once been. **Goodbye, my love.**

The trip between lasted only a heartbeat or so before they were above Dolphin Cove, which was bustling with other dragons, riders and families who were also moving in. K'lvin held Kaliha tight against him as Xmrenth descended. She was nearly a Turn old now, and extremely wiggly, but today she was snuggled tight against his chest, with his riding jacket around them both.

In front of him Kylena was buckled in, she was ten and flying was her favorite thing. She was fearless, leaning forward against her straps with bright eyes, her arms out. She would make a glorious dragonrider one day, K'lvin had no doubt.

}:There are many pretty greens here, not to mention golds. It will not be all bad.:{ Xmrenth said to K'lvin, trying in his dragon-way to make his rider feel better.

"What do you think, girls?" K'lvin asked.

"The beach! It's so pretty!" Kylena crowed in true child-like fashion, bouncing back from the River Bluff tragedy as if it had never happened.

K'lvin unclipped Kylena from the straps and then himself before helping her slide down while keeping Kaliha tucked in his arm.

"Let's go find your foster mother Kylena." Fortunately, Kylena's foster mother from River Bluff was also at Dolphin Cove. Unfortunately for Kaliha, her foster mother had decided to return to her home Hold after the tsunami, but Y'gel's mate, Briata, had agreed to take on Kaliha. Knowing and trusting Y'gel the way he did made K'lvin much more comfortable about it than giving Kaliha to a stranger at Dolphin Cove.

The creche was teaming with people and children, but eventually K'lvin was able to leave Kylena with her foster mother, who shooed the bronzerider away, assuring him that she had everything under control. That was at least one thing off of his plate.

It seemed that over the past fortnight there was just one thing after another that needed to be done. K'lvin was finally starting to see the end of the list, he thought.

Letting go of Kaliha was a little harder than letting go of Kylena, not because he didn't love his daughter's equally, but because Kylena's real mother was still alive, and now she was with the foster mother she had grown to love at River Bluff. But Kaliha was his only piece of Bahji.

But as usual, K'lvin's duties were not done, he needed to get Xmrenth into their new weyrcouch and take his straps off so he could rest. They had done a lot of flying over the past few days, and they would have a lot more to come when they joined their new Dolphin Cove Wing.

}:Yes, I would like to go to the lake.:{ Xmrenth said into K'lvin's brooding.

It cracked the smallest of smiles on K'lvin's face. **I'm on my way.**

K'lvin crossed through the Weyrbowl and hopped on to Xmrenth. They flew up to their new weyr, which was considerably smaller than what they'd had at River Bluff since they were no longer Wingleaders. But it was all they needed, with plenty of room for Xmrenth on his ledge and weyrcouch.

"What do you think of your new home?" he asked his bronze as they stood on their ledge.

}:It's warm, I like that. My ledge is smooth, and that's nice. It will work.:{ Xmrenth said as he crouched so K'lvin could begin working on his straps.

K'lvin laughed, wincing a little as the action brought a pang to his chest. He brought a hand up and rubbed at his left pectoral, thinking he'd definitely strained a muscle with all of the packing and lifting he'd been doing.

"I am sure you will find a nice green to share your _smooth_ ledge with." K'vin said as he climbed up a bronze shoulder to undo the first section of straps.

}:There are many greens here that will be on my ledge.:{ Xmrenth promised.

K'lvin would have commented but that spot in his chest was aching again, and he grunted a little as he jumped back down to slide the leather straps off of his dragon. He felt winded, just from taking off his dragon's straps?

Xmrenth curled his neck around so he could look squarely at his rider, }:K'lvin?:{

The bronzerider frowned as he found himself down on one knee, panting for breath as an invisible fist curled around his heart. Thoughts started flashing through K'lvin's head. Was he going to die here on his ledge after surviving River Bluff? Who would see to his girls? Who would tell Kaliha about her mother?

Xmrenth bugled in panic as he felt his rider fading. He didn't know many of the people at Dolphin Cove, so he called for the first dragons that came to mind, }:Panitath! Aughashyth! My rider needs help!:{

He crooned, his eyes whirling with worry as he extended a wing to shelter his rider from the sun, }:Hold on, K'lvin, hold on.:{
