Location: Harper Hall
Date: month 12, day 3 of Turn 8
Armed with the letter from the Healer, Merlish gave the Choir Master's
office door a light tap. "Good afternoon, husband. How was your
rehearsal?" she asked, making sure to put on a bright smile, just in
case it hadn't gone well.
"Hello, Merlish, what brings you here?" Eilomar was bit surprised to
see her. "It was as usual," he flicked away her question about the
rehearsal.
Hopefully he would not be in a bad mood then. "I went to the Healer,
as we discussed earlier."
"Oh, yes that one," Eilomar said. Now that had been rather
uncomfortable discussion.
"He did give me some recommendations about when would be the best time
for us to have relations in order to get pregnant," she said in rather
a rush. The topic was uncomfortable for both of them, and she was
much more interested at this particular moment in a topic of a
different bend. "But, the Healer did say that he is rather concerned
about my health."
"Your health? You look healthy to me," Eilomar was surprised. He would
thought they would be more concerned about _his_ health.
"Yes, husband. They are concerned that the weight I've gained is
having a negative effect on my health." She handed him the letter the
Healer had written. "Look."
Eilomar red it and then he pondered it over in silence for few
minutes. "We used to take those long walks together, when we were
newly weds. Perhaps we should start doing it again," he said. Loosing
few pounds wouldn't hurt him either and company did make it more
pleasant.
Merlish jumped up and planted a long kiss right on the Choir Master's
cheek. "Oh husband, thank you! Yes, yes, I so want to go for walks
with you again! Can we? Can we walk together?"
"I'll arrange the time for it," Eilomar promised, delighted that he
was making her happy with something so simple. This time of the Turn
was one of busiest for him, preparing for Turn's End performances but
he was going to make an effort. "Maybe I should try that healthier
eating too."
**Success!!!** Without a thought, Merlish threw her arms around his
neck. "That would make me so happy, husband! So very happy!"
Eilomar beamed under such attention. "I do like you to be happy."
"Oh husband, I am happy! You have made me so very happy!" Could this
day get better? It was time to see. "Husband, I have wanted to ask
you something, but I was afraid you would not see the value in it.
But could you help me make a garden of vegetables? So we can eat
healthier? I have wanted one for so long!"
How could he deny her anything when she was like that. It did make him
feel good, like he was some sort of hero. He had a faint recollection
feeling like this when he was young journeyman, travelling around
Southern Pern.
"If you want vegetable garden, you shall have it." As long as he
didn't have to dig the ground himself.
Little did he know the plans she was already making...
