}:Don't forget, you have a lunch appointment with the Weyrleader.:{ Chioneth dutifully reminded Saibra, not that the Weyrwoman needed it. Saibra already had the small council room prepared for their meeting with lunch brought up by the kitchens.

**Thank you, darling.** She was feeling better, more like herself, since her talk with R'enh on the beach. K'reyel had briefly mentioned to her that they'd received a letter about an upcoming conclave meeting, and she couldn't help feel a little excited by it-- it would be her first conclave as a Senior Weyrwoman, and she wanted to represent Dragonsfall well.

"I'm not late am I," K'reyel said as he came into the room, the hide with the invitation in his hand.

"Not at all," she assured the Weyrleader as she took a seat. "Is there anything in particular that brings on this conclave meeting?" Saibra was intrigued as to what had suddenly brought on the invitation.

"It does seem a little out of the blue, we haven't met for a good while," K'reyel said as he took his own seat, placing the invitation on the table. "Take a look and tell me what you think."

Saibra scooped up the hide, and unrolled it eagerly:

"Dear Weyrleader K'reyel and Weyrwoman Saibra,

We believe it is time for us to request a Weyr Conclave. We have been
looking at recent events in our own territory and would like to make
some adjustments to our operations that would affect other locations
as well. Would the sixth day of month eight work for you? Our charts
show that none of us have a Threadfall that day. And would a Weyr with a
larger meeting chamber be willing to host?

Sincerely,
Leriyah and M'stan of Far Island Weyr"

"Adjustments...." Saibra murmured, "I wonder what kind of 'adjustments' they're referring to? Do you think Dragonsfall would be large enough to offer to host the conclave?"

"Possibly, but will people really want to come here at this time of the turn? The weather is far better at Dolphin Cove, or River Bluff," K'reyel was only half joking at that, his time at River Bluff had almost made him forget what a real winter was like.

There was truth in that, between the blizzards and the cold, Dragonsfall probably wasn't the ideal location. "Maybe next time it'll be better weather here." She didn't mind the excuse to get away to a warmer Weyr for a bit, and if it was held at Dolphin Cove she would be within walking distance of R'enh.

"I suppose it depends on how many people actually attend on the day." In K'reyel's experience, things could and would happen. to change that, someone might decide to bring a junior goldrider to sit in on some of the discussions, or another weyrleader might feel that they wanted their wingleaders to be involved if fall patterns were being discussed.

Saibra quirked her head a bit, "We have just as much space as Dolphin Cove or River Bluff."

"I'm sure, but when people bundle up for the weather it seems smaller," joked K'reyel. "Being serious, there's something about warmer weather than can help keep the mood from descending into chaos, plus if anybody wants to demonstrate things," the Weyrleader was thinking aloud.

The Dragonsfall Weyrwoman chuckled, "We _do_ get milder weather, it's not blizzards all the time, maybe the next Conclave meeting will fall when we're having better weather. But anyway, I'll not complain about the excuse to spend a few tropical day at Dolphin Cove if they host, I miss the beaches."

"So we won't offer to host, but we could suggest a schedule for conclaves and put Dragonsfall down to host as soon as the weather improves?" suggested K'reyel.

"Yes, good idea!" Saibra was pleased with the solution.

"I'm guessing the next thing to do is to work out whether we want to add anything to the agenda." K'reyel said, "I was wondering about discussing bloodlines."

She raised an eyebrow, "What about them?"

"Well I noticed both Teseada's gold, and Genna's gold were hatched here, and I was wondering if we shouldn't discuss the idea of a temporary transfer, or opening flights to riders from other Weyrs, just to make things a little more even," K'reyel said. "I'd like riders who will likely lead someday to have experience of other places and people."

"I agree, I think it's a great idea." New blood and experience sounded beneficial to all the Weyrs, not just Dragonsfall.

"We might want to suggest that to the others ahead of time," K'reyel said thoughtfully. "Some people can get a little protective about their Weyrs."

She immediately thought of River Bluff. "Agreed, we don't want to ruffle any feathers."

"No, no we don't." With luck it would be agreed fairly quickly.
