K'mai

K'mai

Uetia stretched to her full length and carefully opened her eyes to
see who Sirjath had chosen this time. When she saw it was K'mai, she
burst into a laughter.

"We could just skip whole the Flight thing and jump into bed furs
together," she remarked with delighted tone.

"But the Flight does add a lot of excitement." K'mai grinned. He was
always happy to wake up next to Uetia.

"Well, it does that," Uetia agreed.

"I'm glad Sirjath likes Sebeth so much." He brushed a strand of hair
from her face.

"Me too. There are worse blues to get attached too," she grinned teasingly.

"But none better." With a smile, K'mai leaned over to nibble along her
neck. It was nice to Uetia in a good mood.

Uetia was indeed in very playful mood and she knew exactly what K'mai
liked. There was advantage of knowing someone well. Things got heated
up very soon.

"You know you _can_ look me up outside of flights," K'mai teased.

"I know and I should. Would you believe if I say I've been too busy?"
Uetia replied.

"With a new baby? I believe it." He idly stroked along her hip. "How
is our little darling by the way?"

"She's growing like a weed. Why don't you come with me when I go to
pick her up? We could spend some time together, as a family. Maybe
have a dinner?" Uetia suggested.

A wide smile spread across his face. "That sounds wonderful." K'mai
might like having a family of his own -- in a loose, very weyrbred
notion of family, anyway.

"Good," Uetia replied. She was doing her best to make sure Sabia had
fater-figures in her life. There were worst choises than K'mai. There
was also Jayonne, so her little girl would have plenty of rolemodels.
Besides, she did enjoy K'mai's company.

K'mai shifted to prop himself on an elbow. "How do you like being a mother?"

"Actually, I like it a lot. I would have never believed it. I never
thought myself as motherly type, nor felt very feminine. Now, I find
myself being very protective towards her. I have to be careful not to
turn into over-protective," Uetia replied. She shifted to sitting
position. She did feel more womanly after her pregnancy and birth. She
used to be "one of the guys". Now, she was one of the mothers. She
still kept her blond hair short, since it was most practical.

"Have you picked out a fostermother yet?"

"Yes, one who can as be her milk-mother. After she's weaned I'll
looking to it again," Uetia replied.

"Will it be hard giving her up?" It was the reality of being a dragonrider.

"Yes," Uetia replied laconically, the tone of her voice telling
everything of that pain of separation.

"You won't be able to raise her, but you can still be an important
part of her life." His own parents had been quite active in his life,
although that was before the return of Thread.

"I know," Uetia sighed. She had pulled on enough clothes to appear
decent on Weyr's standard.

"Are you picking up our little darling now?" K'mai slipped on his trousers.

"Yes, I am," Uetia replied.

"Then I'll come with you." He pulled his shirt on and looked around
for his sandals.

Uetia tossed them at him with a grin. "Let's go."
