"Weyrleader, you wanted to see me?" G'nir asked, the words feeling still
strange in his mouth. How many times those words had been said to _him_?
Still, he didn't blame K'reyel for becoming the Weyrleader instead of him.
He didn't choose it, Chioneth did. So he blamed Saibra. Orlaith's Fligh in
River Bluff Weyr was another proof how quickly things could change in a
Weyr. He was secretly bit proud of K'ran. He had been G'nir's choice for a
Wingleader and had proved himself capable. No doupt he would do well as
River Bluff's Weyrleader.

"Of course," K'reyel waved to a chair. He'd reorganised the office
slightly, moving the desk to one side, and placing a few chairs closer
together in an area that could be used for more informal discussions. "Join
me for a drink?"

"I wouldn't mind a glass of wine, thank you," G'nir replied. He was curious.

"Is white okay with you?" asked K'reyel as he reached for a wine skin.

"Yes, that's fine," G'nir replied and took a seat. "So, how are you settling
in to your new job?"

"Slowly and surely," K'reyel said as he poured two glasses. "You left the
Weyr in good shape."

"I certainly did my best to for orderly and organized. I'm perfectionist,"
G'nir replied, accepting the glass with a nod for thank's.

"And I'll do my best to keep it that way." K'reyel took his own seat. "Which
leads us to the future."

"Yes, always interesting subject," G'nir said. He had certainly given it
plenty of thought during the past sevendays, even asked around for free
wingleader's spots in other Weyrs. Unfortunately, this far into the Pass,
most ranks were already filled and there was plenty of young bronzeriders in
every Weyr to keep them filled too. People were transferring less than at
the beginning of the Pass.

"As I see it, there are a couple of options, if you want to stay here. One,"
K'reyel was counting on his fingers, "Weyrlingmaster, and there will be a
new class soon enough, and they'll need a good teacher. The second, well
there is a potential for a Wingleader role here, I'm planning on
re-evaluating the wings, and I'm not sure all of them will stay as they
are."

G'nir nodded. "I have plenty of experience of leading a wing, but I've never
really worked with weyrlings," he pondered out aloud. "Sure, I've done a
lecture here and there for the weyrlingclass, like most ranking
bronzeriders. Mostly about leadership, diplomaty and bronzeriders's duties.
I did enjoy those occasions."

"It is your decision though, I can't stress enough how much I'd like you to
stay at Dragonsfall. I would however, understand if you would prefer to
transfer elsewhere." K'reyel was trying his hardest to make sure the
bronzerider did stay. He knew he'd need the experience of the former
Weyrleader in getting to know his new wings.

"Well, based on past two months, being an ordinary wingrider just makes me
frustrated," G'nir replied. "I do have roots here," he gestured to indicate
Dragonsfall Weyr. "Back when I was Searched, Rising Moon Weyr didn't yet
excist, so this is my home Weyr."

"And I'm guessing from that, you'd like to stay here."

"Yes," G'nir replied. They didn't had time to work together for long, but
during that period, there had been no problems. K'reyel was a bronzerider he
could respect.

"In that case, I'll leave the choice to you. Wingleader, or Weyrlingmaster."

"It's a tough choice," G'nir said. "I've plenty of experience of leading a
wing, so being a Weyrlingmaster might be interesting new challenge. Maybe I
just should toss a coin for it?"

It was so tempting to reach into his pocket and pull out the thirty-second
mark he knew nestled there. "Chance or choice," K'reyel said, "What a way
to make a decision. Being serious, we need both roles filling,
Weyrlingmaster is probably a little more urgent, as there will be a new
class soon enough. but equally I'm going to need a reliable leader flying
with me. Maybe I should get that coin out."

G'nir was quiet for a moment, thinking, He twirled the wine inside the glass
and watched light reflecting from it

"I would like to try that Weyrlingmaster's position. I honestly don't know
how well I do in that. It's something new and I need to challenge myself."

"Then it's yours."K'reyel smiled. "Those weyrlings had better be prepared
for your exacting standards."

"Thank you, Weyrleader. And yes, those weyrlings will be well trained,"
G'nir promised.

"I have no doubts in that department."

"There isn't any reason why I can't start right away, is there?" G'nir asked. **We are going to be training the Weyrlings, ** he told Nirreth the good news.

}: That should be interesting, :{ the bronze replied sleepily. He had been taking a nap.

"None whatsoever," replied K'reyel.

"Good, I think that's settled then," G'nir smiled. He found out he was quite excited about it.

"It is indeed, Weyrlingmaster."
