}:Aznith, have your rider report to my rider's office as soon as he is
cleaned up from drills.:{ Chioneth spoke to the brown dragon from
where she lay on her ledge. It was clear to anyone with an eye that
the gold was beginning to show her egg-heaviness, and that within the
fortnight she would probably be heading to the Sands to clutch.

There was a long pause before Aznith replied and the brown sounded
apologetic towards the queen, giving her an almost hesitant reply. }:
Chioneth, Mine wants to know if it is important. :{ There was another
pause and a mental cough. }: Mine says he has made plans. :{

The gold's tone immediately became frosty. }:I suggest you convince
your rider to promptly show himself or he will be banished back to the
Weyrling class. He will come to her office, this is an order,
Aznith.:{ The Senior Queen pressed upon the brown with her authority.

Aznith response was immediately conciliatory. }: Yes, of course, Chioneth. :{

In half a candlemark, there was a knock on Saibra's door frame. Ma'din
was there, recently bathed. "Well. The Weyrwoman summoned." He glanced
in the office, but didn't come in and leaned against the door frame,
arms crossed. "So what dire news do you have to give me?"

Saibra looked up, her blue eyes hard, "First, brownrider, you will
address me with respect, or I will make good on Chioneth's threat.
Second, you will have a seat and I will deal with you when I am
ready."

"Our Weyrwoman is feisty. " He smirked, not appearing to be at all
intimidated. "Very well then. My apologies, of course. " He strode in
and sat in the chair across from her, legs stretched out in front of
him. He crossed one ankle over the other and arched a brow.

The Weyrwoman looked back down at the reports she had been working on.
She was perfectly willing to let Ma'din sit and wait while she took
her good sweet time reading every_single_word of the tediously boring
tithing report she had been given.

He waited a few moments and twiddled his thumbs. Recognizing the ploy,
Ma'din rolled his eyes and then began humming. It was an annoying bit
of music, repetitious and just subtly enough out of tune to pluck at
the nerves.

"You should sing with the harpers at evening meal, I think the Weyr
would be... entertained." Saibra mused without looking up from her
work. When she seemed to be finished with whatever it was, she signed
her name with a flourish, rolled up the piece of paper and set it to
the side to seal later.

"Now, the reason for your visit," she speared the man with her cobalt
eyes. "I am having Chioneth restrict Aznith's travels to Dolphin Cove.
The only way you will go there is if the Weyrleader, or myself, give
you permission."

He had blithely ignored the first comment, but her second made him sit
up straight and his brows snap downwards in an immediate scowl. "Why
the bloody blazes are you doing that? I have personal matters to
attend to at Dolphin's Cove."

"And normally that would be fine, however, when those personal matters
involve taking a child away from the Weyr without the permission of
her parents, I'm afraid it becomes a Weyr matter."

Ma'din's eyes narrowed. "That child is my sister." He leaned back. "So
what? My father comes whining to you and you jump to do his bidding?"

"Your half-sister, and her parents do not wish for you to take her
from the Weyr without supervision. It was your own foolish mistake to
do so without asking in the first place." Saibra's face held no trace
of her normal good sense of humor. "Chioneth will make sure that
Aznith does not go to Dolphin Cove and should you decide to do
something reckless, like hitch a ride with someone else, Chioneth will
ground you from flying anywhere but Threadfall."

"I wasn't hurting shaffing anyone!" Ma'din ground it out. "I didn't
think D'hol would make you jump to his tune so easily, or has he
gotten to you too?"

Saibra refused to take the bait. "This has nothing to do with what
your father wants or does not want and everything to do with how
K'reyel and I expect our riders to behave. It is unacceptable for you
to take a child flying, at any Weyr, without the permission of their
parents. Period."

"That is my _little sister_. I'm not going to hurt her."

"Your reputation comes with a price. Maybe when you behave in a more
trustworthy manner Kieyla's parents will change their minds." Saibra
said.

With a snarl, Ma'din rose and spun on his heel to leave the office. He
would find a way around this stupid, idiotic decision. He would not be
kept from the only member of his family that he gave a damn about.
