Rekindling Flame

Location: Green Valley Hold
Date: month 4, day 7 of Turn 8
Notes: Mentioned: Oria and Felyna (not by name)

The tavern was busier than usual what with a caravan of tythe about to
be shipped to the main hold. So she'd swept and cleaned and baked and
served all day long but she didn't feel tired. Instead her color was
high and her eyes glittered. In the corner sat a very well disguised
man who was no stranger to her.

"What can I bring ya," she said.

"Another ale, please. And a pretty maid," the man replied with a wink.
He had done something to his hair to hide it's distinct colour: how
many men had brown hair bordering on auburn? He couldn't hide his eyes
though: brown with green flecks and spark of sheer joy of being alive.

"The maid isn't on the menu," she said smartly for other ears but held her
pitcher over his much and poured. Her eyes twinkled back at him and at
the time she first met the man. "But I can find ya some conversation if
that'll do." It felt like banter from another time.

"I guess I have to settle for that then. Hey, has L'cor paid you a
visit lately?" Corowal replied and asked.

"He has," she said sliding into the seat next to him. "Brought his
pretty lady for a visit. He said you'd be fostering their baby." Her
voice had lowered and eyes turned warm, "You think I'll be able to see
it on occasion?" She knew things like that might be a little difficult
to arrange but she'd dearly love to hold their grandchild.

"I'm sure something could be arranged," Corowal replied and squeezed
her hand affectionately. "Do you realize that it will be my first
grand child?_ Our_ grand child. I'm quite excited."

"Me too," she crinkled her freckled nose. "Though we're not old enough
to have a grand baby yet." She turned her hand to caress his thigh
under the table and smiled. Despite her previous words, this
particular maid was available to this particular man. "How long do you
have?"

"I actually have whole night," Corowal replied the last question. "I
managed to find a good excuse to sneak away." He was probably driving
his Captain crazy though. He placed his hand above Dinalee's.

Dinalee's eyes widened and a soft breath sucked between her lips.
"Truly?" It had been many turns since he'd showed up like this at her
Tavern and seemed interested in anything more than conversation. She
wasn't going to pry or ask any uncomfortable questions. This was a
gift she would not waste. There was one man on the planet that she'd
loved and given up long ago. If he wanted anything from her he was
more than welcome to it.

She pointed her chin at the stairs to the side of the room. "Third
door on the left. It's our best room and has fresh linens. Best of
all, the door locks." She couldn't help the smile that trembled
slightly with the pounding of her heart. "Let me get rid of the rest
of these louts."

"I'll be there," Corowal promised. "After the ale," he lifted his
tankard, feeling a surge of excitement. He had been on his best
behaviour for the past Turn or so: a loyal, dedicated husband.
Frankly, it had made him feel bored and stagnated. He hadn't feel this
much alive since he and Erassa had agreed to stop their
feline-and-critter- game.

Dinalee was no longer than she had to be to get the taproom buttoned
up and make sure her other guests were settled. When she finally
arrived, she brought with her a fine bottle of wine and a pair of
glasses. While she'd liked to have taken a bath that would have taken
much too long. She scratched at the door.

Corowal opened the door. He had taken a bath, his hair was still damp
and he was wearing only a bathrobe. He let her in and locked the door
behind her. "Pleased to see you," he leaned to kiss her.

Dinalee melted into his arms and his kiss. She'd spent turns pining
for this man and a night like this. She fully intended to savor every
moment of it. The fingers of one hand threaded through his hair and
she tasted the ale on his lips. Her response to him was immediate and
willing.

"I've missed you, Dina," Corowal said simply. His fingers started to
work on her clothes, to get them out of the way.

Though her body wasn't as youthful as it once was she was still a hard
worker with very little extra meat on her bones. The only padding she
carried served to round her curves a bit. Her ample bosom sprang free
of their bindings as he removed them and her hands found their way
inside his robe. "I've missed you too," she said breathlessly.

Corowal was taking his time, doing this properly. He escorted her to the bed.

As she lay down she looked up at him and tried to make a memory she
could draw dreams from later. Who knew if he'd ever come to her again. But
she could cherish this even as she'd cherished their son all those
turns. She opened her arms.
