Description: Green Rising.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 3, day 13 of Turn 8
Less than a week had passed since the change in Weyrleaders and she
knew her green was going to tear into the skies at any time. Yet she
still kept her shift in the infirmary even though her nerves were
almost raw and she had to bite her tongue to keep from snapping at
everyone.
"Shardit," she snarled as she bumped into an apprentice coming out of
one of the rooms. "Lunch," she announced to the occupant as she almost
stumbled in.
"Are you alright," the woman asked.
"No, I'm...." she glowered and then she felt her green come awake and
dive off her ledge. "Sorry gotta go," she said and shoved the tray
into her hands.
She practically ran out of the infirmary with mixed emotions of anger
and relief that the wait was finally over.
Chenreth had flown in a couple of flights but the young brown had
never had much luck. E'zar hoped that their luck was going to change
today.
}:It's the lovely Sawauth.:{ Chenreth told him with anticipation in his
voice.
**Ah, greenrider Tavia. That _would_ be quite a catch.** E'zar agreed
as he left the Dining Cavern en route to the flight rooms.
A bluerider striding through the Weyrbowl was also having similar
thoughts as Jayth perched on their weyrledge, his whirling eyes
watching the green intently as he waited for her to rise. R'axe
wondered if J'kri would be at this flight. They often ended up in the
flight room together, which made losing not so bad at all.
}:Sawauth rises and I will have her!:{ Rogueth declared at his rider.
It had been quite some time since he'd caught and the bronze felt
desire burning in his wings. He perched on the rim, watching her
intently.
K'ran felt the wave of interest wash over him and pushed aside the
hides with a groan. He would go to the flightrooms and see what
happened. At least Tavia was a nice woman.
Rademerth shifted impatiently, glaring at the other males. }:She is mine!:{
**That's up to her, love,** J'kri teased as he hurried to the
flightrooms. He grinned when he spotted R'axe. Good thing Rademerth
and Jayth often had the same taste in females.
The next to arrive was another bluerider, but one much older than the
rest. D'vold had lost track after his sixtieth turn, but his mind was
still sharp, more or less. Kvith hadn't chased a green all turn, so
when he insisted on doing so, who was his rider to argue? He'd not
win, but he'd have fun trying.
}:I will win!:{ Kvith declared. }:I'm more wily than the others.:{
**Keep tellin' yourself that,** D'vold replied.
}: Lovely Sawauth! :{ Nirreth called out. After losing a gold flight,
he was eager to prove himself in a green flight. His rider wasn't as
eager. G'nir was still worried what might happen, what he might do.
Galerith appeared to the scene as well as Juth. The two of them have
brothers as rides and spent lot of time together. So, they often ended
up chasing same greens.
Sawauth was old enough and wily enough to escape these grasping males
she slashed at a blue that got too close and sucked at the hot blood
of a beast. She tossed it aside and sprang into the air with a flirt
of her tail and a screamed challenge to her suitors.
Tavia staggered slightly against a rider next to her and let him help
her away from the pens and toward the flight room.
Arinoth snarled at a brown as he launched into the air after Sawauth.
A faster blue, Jayth, was already in front of him, but he knew he
could outdistance the blue dragon if it came down to it.
Rogueth leapt after Sawauth, dodging past a slower, larger bronze and
settling in hot on her heels. Would this green fly far or would she
seek the heights fast for a quick catch? Either way he planned to win.
}:I will have you again!:{ Rademerth bragged as he followed her. He'd
gotten good at catching and had all the confidence of youth.
Nirreth's strenght served him well, taking him quickly to the air.
Galerith lauched himself up while Juth was slightly slow in getting up.
Kvith wasn't far behind the rest, biding his time, or so he told
himself. He was smart, he could outthink his rivals.
Sawauth shot up into the clouds and then above them into the sunlight.
Her hide glowed and her recent injury didn't bother her in the least
as she twisted and darted from side to side peering at her chasers.
There were several she knew and some she didn't. Though her preference
was usually brown this time she was undecided and turned her attention
to the sky. Flirting her tail she dove into the cover of clouds and
then took a turn.
Rogueth broke to the left to follow after the glowing green. }:Pick me!:{
he called.
Jayth pushed away from the other blue beside of him, veering sharply
to the right, while Arinoth shot forward, keeping a straight line into
the over of clouds.
Juth decided to keep going straight, since he couldn't see which way
she turned. He gained altitude, hoping to get above the clouds.
Galerith went left, pretty certain he had seen her turn that
direction. Nirreth choose the right turn.
Kvith followed Galerith left, sure she'd bank that way.
The green disappeared and the chasing males followed her into the
misty white of the clouds. Rademerth saw Jayth move just ahead of him
and turned right to follow his friend and rival.
Her radical turn to the left in the clouds was followed by an upward
swoop that brought her out of cover almost on top of Galerith but she
wasn't quite ready to be caught and moved suddenly to the away from
him. She didn't even see the shadow of the bronze who's path she'd
inadvertently crossed until she felt the tangle of wings and a neck
whipped around hers to hold her firmly.
Rogueth wrapped his next and tail around the green dragon and threw
out his wings to slow their fall, crooning in pleasure that she'd
chosen him. On the ground below, K'ran reached for Tavia, his hands
contacting her warm skin and pulling her against him instinctively.
All thoughts were forgotten in the rush of dragonlust.
