}:Now, it is now. Come here. Now!:{ Chioneth's voice rang with impatience,
lacking her normal elegant alto tone, replaced instead by something
grittier.

Saibra didn't hesitate, didn't even take a moment to question her dragon.
Instead, the Weyrwoman poured herself a fresh cup of klah from the warmer,
wrapped her scarf around her neck, and left the Dining Cavern.

The heat inside the Hatching Cavern was welcome, and she gratefully loosened
her thick knit scarf as she descended the steps and walked across the hot
sands. Already Chioneth had nestled one glittering egg into a cocoon of
sand, and from the tense position of her back haunches, she was working on
another.

**Everything going okay?** Saibra asked as she stepped up onto the platform
that would save her feet from the heat of the sand.

}:Of course.:{ Chioneth replied in a pinched voice.

Tossing her hair over her shoulder, Saibra looked around at the empty
cavern, imagining what it would be like in a month, filled to the brim with
anxious onlookers.

**Are you going to invite Erdenth?**

The gold didn't answer, and after a few minutes Saibra saw why. Chioneth
pushed another egg to rest beside of the first. Having a moment of peace,
Cioneth considered the question. She _did_ like her new Weyrleader, he was a
very handsome and strong bronze. He would be good company, she decided.

}:Erdenth. I am clutching. Your lifemate may join mine on the Sands, if he
wishes.:{ Chioneth relayed to the bronze.

}:My lovely mate, I would not miss this,:{ Erdenth informed the gold. }:It
will be a moment or two, my rider says that celebratory drinks are
appropriate.:{

Saibra smiled as Chioneth passed along Erdenth's words. She hoped that
K'reyel would be pleased with Chioneth's clutching. G'nir hadn't seemed very
impressed by Chioneth's last clutch numbers. **So wrapped up with his
precious Hygalia.** Saibra rolled her eyes.

Chioneth nosed a third egg across the sands to join its two siblings.

"May I come in?" the words were addressed to both the gold and her rider. In
his hands, K'reyel bore a tray and glasses, with a bottle.

A low rumble came from the clutching Queen.

"That's a yes, come on in. We're up to six eggs now." She informed K'reyel
from where she had taken a seat on the bench. Curious flits kept darting in
and out of the Hatching Cavern, never staying long enough to disgruntle
Chioneth, but just long enough to coo with excitement.

The Weyrleader set down the tray on the bench. "This is something a little
special I brought from River Bluff, I hope you like white wine," K'reyel
said.

Saibra's eyes lit, "Oh, I love white wine. You spoil me, Weyrleader." She
smiled as she took a glass from the tray.

"Is that another egg?" K'reyel asked as he made a quick count.

The Weyrwoman looked over at the clutch so far with interest. "Oh, it is!
Seven!" The seventh egg was beautifully colored with a natural swirled
pattern.

"Now that one I like," K'reyel said. "It's beautiful."

"Lucky number seven." Saibra said as she watched Chioneth work. "I've always
thought it must be amazing to have your Queen clutch a gold egg."

"Maybe she will one day. But then you'd have to spend a lot of time making
sure the right girls for her were on the sands." K'reyel said. "But it could
still happen, maybe Chioneth has it in her."

Saibra's lips quirked into a saucy grin, "Maybe she's just never had the
right sire for her clutches."

"Give Erdenth time, and maybe he'll surprise her, and us."

"Let's hope so, Dragonsfall could use some fresh blood." Their youngest gold
was of Onnyth's bloodline, it wouldn't hurt to have a few other bloodlines,
not of Dragonsfall, present.

"How many is that now?"

Saibra's fingers swept through the air as she counted. "We're up to ten
now."

"I'm getting the feeling there are a good few more to come," K'reyel said as
he confirmed the count. "She's doing well."

The Weyrleader was certainly right about that, by the time Chioneth was
finished some hours later, thirty-four eggs sat glistening on the sands,
peeking out like bright jewels.

"Thirty-four, that's more than her last clutch. I think our dragons did
well, K'reyel."

"She has done well," K'reyel looked to Chioneth, aware she would probably
expect praise. "Very well indeed, and if she's hungry now, Erdenth will see
to it that she has the fattest, juciest herdbeast from the pens."

A low rumble emitted from the Queen.

"Better make that _two_ herdbeasts."
