Saibra made sure that it was really K'reyel in the Weyrleader's office
before she went over this time. She didn't want to risk running into G'nir
again.
"K'reyel?" She knocked lightly on his open door.
"Come on in," called out K'reyel. The office might not have been as neat as
it once had been, it was taking the new Weyrleader some time to go through
the contents and sort out what it was he did or did not need for himself.
Relieved to hear the voice of her new Weyrleader, Saibra entered and seated
herself across from K'reyel with a smile. "Having fun here?" She looked
around at the papers that he was sorting through. Saibra empathized, she'd
had to go through the same thing when Hygalia left.
A curse was bitten back, there was no need to introduce Saibra to his
complete vocabulary, thought K'reyel. "As much as possible with all this.
Nothing wrong with what G'nir has done, just I wanted to sort it all out and
organise it my way."
"Of course. Even though Hygalia had taken meticulous notes on everything it
was still a lot for me to read through and organize it the way I wanted. If
there's anything I can help with just let me know."
"Should only take me the rest of the day," K'reyel managed a smile. "Then
it'll breed, and by the time I come back in the morning the whole thing will
have held a hatching and there'll be twice as much hidework as before."
Saibra chuckled, "And you are the lucky one who gets to Impress to _all_ the
hatchlings."
"Unless there are any other candidates," he grinned. "But apart from that,
what can I do for you?"
"Lenala's clutch at River Bluff should be hatching soon. I was wondering if
you wanted to attend that together? Our first outing as Weyrleader and
Weyrwoman." She said, getting to the point of her visit.
"I see," he said. "It might be a nice idea."
Saibra nodded, picking a piece of lint from the knee of her breeches. "It
would be a good way to show unification if we wanted. If you already have
plans with your weyrmate I understand." She didn't lack for an escort.
"Mai will understand, let me check with her. But I'm pretty certain she said
she wanted a few more sevendays to get Mayel into a routine here. We've only
just found him a foster mother he really likes."
"I got lucky when I moved here to have older children, they pretty much
jumped right into their new places without much coaxing from me. In fact, I
was probably the one who had the most trouble adjusting." She was just
beginning to feel like she really fit at Dragonsfall. Having a new
Weyrleader was helping with that.
"Tell you what, Mayel is staying over with Aziala tonight, so why don't you
join me and Mai for dinner, we were going to go to the dining cavern anyway,
so you'll not be interrupting anything, and we can talk it over."
Saibra smiled at that idea. "I would like that a lot." The Weyrwoman very
much wanted to be friends with K'reyel and his weyrmate, it just made things
easier for them all in the long run.
"Then I'll have Erdenth let Chioneth know when we're heading down there."
"Great. I look forward to meeting Mai." Saibra pushed to her feet. "I'll let
you get back to your," she glanced down at all the papers, "work."
"I'll see you later," K'reyel said, as he found a box folder.
