Everything about the flight was a dazzling blur as Saibra blinked up
at the stone ceiling of the flight weyr, trying to clear her head so
that she could think properly. Her body still trembled from the
overwhelming desire and passion that had flowed through her as
Chioneth had flown. Never had her queen flown with such hostility
toward the males, and yet, never had Saibra experienced such
heightened feelings.
**I still can't believe it.** Saibra thought as she slowly began to
recall the last clear thoughts she had during the flight. Nirreth had
been so close to Chioneth that Saibra'd had no doubt that she would be
waking up beside of G'nir, again.
The Weyrwoman turned her head, her blue eyes regarding the man beside
of her, "Well that wasn't what I expected." Her voice was slightly
scratchy, hoarse from being used during the mating flight.
"I'm not sure I expected that either," the bronzerider turned onto his side,
facing his new Weyrwoman. "But it seems someone managed to persuade Chioneth
that we were a good fit." K'reyel hadn't expected to be there, a rider new
to the area, new to the Weyr, he and Erdenth was just feeling their way
through the new routines and drills, and there he was all of a sudden thrust
into the spotlight.
There was a feeling of smug, sleepy satisfaction radiating from his bronze
lifemate. One he'd only felt once before when Erdenth had managed to catch a
senior gold. "It might be," he paused, "Unexpected. But it isn't an
unpleasant idea, not now at least."
Saibra smiled, feeling a little giddy at the thought of not having to
work with G'nir any more. It wasn't that he hadn't been a good
Weyrleader, but he'd been so closed off that she had found it
impossible to form any sort of relationship with him, work related or
otherwise.
"It's not unpleasant at all." Her body still thrummed from the mating
flight as she rolled onto her side, regarding K'reyel with her blue
eyes as the bed sheet slid down the curve of her hip.
"Erdenth was most definitely satisfied." Kreyel told her as he admired the
goldrider. He might be weyrmated, but he was still a man, and could still
look and appreciate the female form. "As was I." And that fact probably
showed in his eyes.
Saibra was pleased to hear that K'reyel wasn't overwhelmed or upset
that he was now the Weyrleader. "You have time to stay a little?" She
invited, ready to burn off the rest of the mating flight lust that was
left over.
"I don't think anyone would expect us to appear for, say another candlemark
at least. We could talk, or take a bath together, or..." his voice trailed
off as he studied her face for a moment. "We could just enjoy this time
between us."
The Weyrwoman's cobalt eyes lit, "A private bath sounds nice. I'm very
good at washing backs." She promised in her sultry voice.
"I've been told I am too," he replied, "I hope they have a good supply of
soap sand here."

Combing her damp hair with her fingers, Saibra braided the ebony
strands together over her shoulder as she watched K'reyel dress. While
her first choice would have been to have Mnoranth and R'enh win the
flight, K'reyel was not a bad alternative. **Anything but G'nir.** She
thought. **Or J'darin.. that would be torture.**
"Well, Weyrleader, got any ideas on what you plan on doing with
G'nir?" Would G'nir want to stay? Would he just disappear back into
the Wings like a regular wingrider?
K'reyel thought for a moment. "I'll have to speak to him, but tomorrow, once
he's had a bit of time to think about what he might want to do himself."
Fastening a shirt button he said, "He doesn't strike me as the type to go
quietly back as a wingrider, and I suspect he'd think of wingsecond as a
consolation prize."
Saibra considered that, "No, I don't think he would take well to
Wingsecond, but he's too much of a leader to be a Wingrider. There is
an open Weyrlingmaster position. Perhaps he would like that."
"We'll have to see, I think the kinder way would perhaps be to let him
decide, with our help."
Tossing her finished braid over her shoulder, Saibra stood and ran her
palms down her thighs, "Well then, you have a weyrmate waiting for
you, I'm sure. Just let me know when you'd like to get together to go
over some of the finer details of our new working relationship." She
smiled as she came to stand in front of him, "I think we will make a
solid team."
"I think we will too," K'reyel said, after taking a moment to admire his
Weyrwoman. "For the Weyr, and Pern."
"For the Weyr and Pern." She repeated in hearty agreement.
