R'enh

Vtols fluttered in Saibra's stomach as Chioneth descended for a
graceful landing in front of the Harper Hall. It felt divine to be
away from Dragonsfall's damp cold and into warmer air again. The
golden dress she wore sparkled when she moved and nearly rivaled
Chioneth in color. Floor length, the garment was far from conservative
as cut-outs around the bodice bared portions of Saibra's skin and the
thigh-high split up the side opened to reveal her long legs when she
walked.

Before landing the Weyrwoman secured her saffron, jeweled mask over
her eyes. She was so glad that this event did not warrant her presence
by G'nir's side the way Hatchings did. Tonight she could actually
enjoy being fun and spontaneous with her favorite bronzerider, R'enh.

R'enh had arrived earlier than Saibra just to watch the beautiful
Chioneth come to a landing. He stepped closer with a bow to the gold
knowing Mnoranth was already busily trying to gain her attention.
"What a beautiful dress," he smiled as he offered his hand to assist
her down. His own tunic was a dyed suede with bronze colored diamond
appliques around the neck and hem. Black trim and a black mask with
bronze trim was actually embellished with feathers. With the scarcity
of birds on Pern they were quite an extravagance but he knew Saibra
would be going all out.

"You look mighty dapper yourself, Weyrsecond." Saibra flashed him a
smile as she took his hand and assistance. Once her feet were on the
ground she pressed a kiss to R'enh's cheek. "You will notice my lovely
earrings." She was wearing the very ones he'd made her. "I don't want
to make you jealous, but a _very_ handsome man made them just for me."

"I may have to take him out," R'enh went along with the jest like a
jealous holder. "Name him and he's dead meat," he winked.

Saibra poked him playfully in the ribs, "You know a lady does not kiss
and tell."

He flinched and laughed. Saibra was one of the few people on the
planet who could tickle him. "As long as she kisses and does something
else," he leered and gave her his arm to escort her into the ballroom.
He pulled her immediately onto the dancefloor and began a smooth glide
to the music.

"Don't worry. Nothing fancy that will give us away... yet."

Dancing was one of the many things that Saibra enjoyed doing with
R'enh, mainly because he did it so well. The Weyrwoman followed his
lead on the dance floor with one hand on his shoulder and the other
encased in his larger, more calloused hand. The dance floor itself was
a lively array of fabrics and colors and she enjoyed speculating about
the real identifies behind the masks.

"Yes, let's not show just how good of a dancer you are, then every
lady in the room will be wanting a turn." She smiled.

"It will be boring," he smiled down at her and watched the room to
make sure he wasn't dancing any better or worse than anyone else.
"Well except for my partner who is the most beautiful woman in the
room."

Saibra smiled at the compliment as they moved effortlessly together.
Her blue eyes scanned the crowd and caught onto a familiar form-
N'vanik. For Saibra the Dolphin Cove Weyrleader was recognizable even
with a mask on, but it was the young man at his side that really
caught her attention. The blonde hair and set of his shoulders gave
him away, and Saibra had seen enough of J'ackt to know the features of
his face, regardless of mask.

"N'vanik brought J'ackt? Bit risky given his reputation with Holders
don't you think?" She asked R'enh.

"N'vanik had his reasons," he smiled. "Want to say hi," he asked. It
wasn't as though he didn't know about her relationship with the kid.
Dragon gossip was worse than humans, they just leaked information. But
then what he had with Saibra was unique and he was enjoying it. He
didn't own her like holders did their wives. Instead she added spice
and genuine feeling to his life. He was quite content with the piece
of her that was his.

"No, I may say hey later, but right now I am quite enjoying my dance
partner." Saibra said genuinely.

He smiled down into her eyes and in the depths of his own she might
have seen just a little bit of gratitude. "I don't mind having you to
myself this evening," he said.

Saibra smiled, pleased to have R'enh's undivided attention. "I rather
like having you to myself as well. You may have me spoiled by the end
of the night."

"I plan on spoiling you all night and well in to tomorrow," he smiled
into her eyes and his arms tightened. Then he twirled her around and
into a dip as the song ended.

Vtols erupted in Saibra's stomach at the promise she heard in R'enh's
voice. Despite how often, and regularly, they were together, there was
still something about the look in his eye and the silken heat in his
voice that made desire spark within the Weyrwoman. "I look forward to
it." She pressed her lips to his in a quick kiss before she was back
on her feet, applauding the harpers with the rest of the dancers.

He stood next to her with a smile for the reaction he'd felt and her
quick kiss. "I think I saw Cyradis and N'vanik over there," he said
twisting his head to look around. "Did you want to say hello?"

"Yes, let's go see what they are up to." Saibra smiled at the mention
of the Dolphin Cove Weyrleader and Weyrwoman. She still missed working
with the dynamic pair and hoped that she could perhaps secure such an
alliance with her Dragonsfall Weyrleader. **Although not likely at the
rate I am going with G'nir.**

They spent the next half candlemark making nice with the dignitaries
and then slipped out of the ball fully intent on their own personal
business.
