Description: K'ran comes to give Saibra some wingrider reports.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 12, day 22 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: J'darin
K'ran pinched his nose as he read the medical reports on his desk.
Another pregnant greenrider. That meant talking to the Weyrwoman about
giving her another rider. Maybe she'd have some injured ready for
release.
}:My rider would like to meet with yours about our Wings,:{ Rogueth
said to Chioneth. }:When and where would be good?:{
Although she was normally in her weyr at this time of day, Saibra had
been feeling a little under the weather as of late, and currently the
Dragonsfall Weyrwoman was sitting on her couch, swaddled in a blanket
as she looked over reports that had been given to her earlier that day
by the infirmary staff.
}:Wingleader K'ran would like to speak to you. Wing business. He would
like to know a time and place.:{
Saibra thought of the Wingleader, a bookish man who while impossibly
short, was at least a very polite fellow. She recalled how he liked to
read about pirates and how he had suggested books that he thought
Kaibren might enjoy. **Send him up to the weyr.** Even though she felt
poorly, she felt she could probably handle a little company.
Before the man arrived Saibra ran a brush through her hair, twisted it
away from her face, grabbed a fresh cup of klah, and then took back
her place on the couch with her blanket draped around her narrow
shoulders.
}:Chioneth says their weyr works,:{ the bronze dutifully relayed.
K'ran tucked the collected files under his arm and scooped up his mug,
walking towards the Weyrwoman's weyr. He was a bit surprised to not
meet her in an office, but then again sometimes an informal setting
was a little more relaxing than sitting formally around a table,
hoping for it all to be over.
"Greetings to you and Chioneth, lady. Are you feeling well?" The fact
that she was sitting wrapped in a blanket gave him a moment of
concern.
"Ugh," Saibra reached for a handkerchief, "it would appear that I have
a cold of some sort." The Weyrwoman's voice was thick and stuffy, her
nose reddened.
"I'm sorry to hear that," he said, hesitating with the files in hand.
"If you have some time to speak about your wing, I have some news for
you."
The Dragonsfall Weyrwoman motioned for K'ran to take a seat in a
wingedback chair adjacent to the couch, "Please have a seat."
He sat down in the indicated chair and settled the papers on one knee,
taking a sip from the mug. "I was informed today that Leitra is
pregnant, so she'll be incoming to your wing."
"Yay, another hormonal woman." Saibra muttered beneath her breath as
she added Leitra's name to her list, making a note to check in on the
woman later in the sevenday.
K'ran looked disappointed in the greenrider. "I asked if she was sure she
wanted to keep this one, but she seems determined to. Still, you'll have
the reinforcements."
Snatching up her handkerchief, Saibra blew her nose, and then wiped at
her watery eyes with the heel of her hand before clearing her throat
with a sigh. "Ugh. I don't ever remember being sick like this
before..." She blamed the cold, of course. "Katra's weaned her baby
off to the foster mother so she's ready for full time duty again."
"Looks like we're making a trade, then. Any injured to be coming off duty
anytime soon?"
"Bluerider Ed'var is nearly ready, probably another sevenday before
he's ready to go back to full duties." Saibra reported looking down
through slightly watery eyes at her papers.
One coming back now, one coming back soon. That was good for his
Wing's numbers. "I'll keep that in mind."
Blowing her nose again, clearing her throat, and taking a gulp of
klah, Saibra looked back up at K'ran, "Anything else?"
"Nothing immediate. Is there anything I can do for you, other than let
you rest and get out of your hair?"
The Dragonsfall Weyrwoman gave K'ran a small, grateful smile. She
liked K'ran. He was polite and knew his place as in the ranking order
of riders at the Weyr. Much better than some other bronzeriders she
had met, she thought thinking of J'darin.
"No, but thank you, K'ran."
"In that case, I'll see you later," the bronzerider said with a polite
bow. He gathered up his items and hurried out the door, not wanting to
trouble an ill Saibra any longer.
