}:Eillispeth, is your rider free? Mine would like to come get an egg
from yours,:{ Rogueth relayed to the pretty green, tilting his wings
to catch the sun better as he did so.
}: Well, hello handsome, :{ Eillispeth purred flirtingly. }: Yes, he just
got home,:{ she replied to the question.
Lounging at her ledge, she could hear him move around inside, taking off
his outside clothes.
}:You look fetching today,:{ Rogueth added, }:My rider will be over
shortly.:{
Sure enough, within a few minutes K'ran was knocking at the door.
E'naer went to open the door, "Hello, K'ran. What brings you here?" he
smiled at the bronzerider who was quite a bit shorter than he was.
"I heard you had some flit eggs and wanted to discuss acquiring one.
How are you and Eillispeth?" K'ran asked.
"We're fine, two classes of weyrlings are keeping us busy. And, yes, I
have still eggs that I need get rid off," E'naer replied and gestured
him in. Feral's hatching box was set next to the fireplace, which had
cosy little fire going on. The gold firelizard was curled protectively
around her eggs.
"The seniors of Onnyth's clutch are close to graduating soon, yes?"
K'ran asked as he came in. "I'll have to stop by some time and take a
look. If you need Cyan riders to help with rope drills for them, let
me know."
"Pretty close, yes," E'naer agreed. "Let us know if there are riders
you have your eyes on," It was customary for the Wingleaders or their
'Seconds to observe the weyrlings near graduation and see if there was
someone they absolutely wanted in their Wing.
E'naer escorted him to Feral's clutch. She lifted her head and hissed
at the stranger.
"Now, now, behave, my girl," E'naer scolded and picked her up, so
K'ran could take a look at the eggs.
"Hello Feral," K'ran said politely to the flit, hoping it would
mollify her a little. It worked on gold dragons, but firelizards he
didn't know as much about.
He stooped over the eggs and took a look. The wingleader didn't think
his brother would much mind what color he got, especially since it was
going to be a surprise. There was a pretty one with a purpleish shell.
"Is that one okay?"
"Yes. Estimating from a size it could be blue or green. Not that you
could ever say for sure," E'naer replied. Feral wasn't all happy about
someone stealing her eggs and hissed ferociously. E'naer put his hand
on her back to prevent her doing anything rash. "He'll take good care
of your baby," he crooned at her.
K'ran had brought the supplies he'd been told was right for the egg. A
large pot for carrying with warm sand. "Do I need anything else before
I take it?"
"No, just keep it warm and have meat at hand when it Hatches. It
should hatch on day ten or here about," E'naer replied. He scratched
Feral to distract her.
K'ran carefully scooped the egg into the carrying pot and tucked it
in. "Thank you for this. Anything I owe?"
"I don't give them out for free," E'naer grinned and mentioned the
sum. Since K'ran was fellow dragonrider, he didn't ask an outrageous
amount of marks. He would had asked far more from a holder.
"I have it right here," K'ran said, passing over the agreed amount.
"Thank you. Take good care of it. Are you going to keep it yourself or
give it to someone?" E'naer replied and asked out of curiousity.
"For my brother, so he can keep in better contact," K'ran said. "I'm
sure he'll treat it excellently, or I wouldn't be offering to him. But
he's a good guy."
E'naer nodded. He had given eggs from Feral's first clutch to his
mother and sister. "Makes sense. Good luck with the egg," he said.
"Have a good rest of the day, and thanks," K'ran replied.
