Despite her new concerns, Rhosyn was determined to enjoy her Hatching feast. This was her time, shardit! Of course she was also very aware of who else was there and who she hadn't spoken to. After dancing the traditional first dance with K'sedel, she was hoping she might be able to manage enough dance partners to keep her mingling to a minimum to avoid the awkwardness she felt. When no one approached quick enough, she saw a perfect opportunity. So she advanced on the poor unsuspecting harper. "Jayonne, what are you doing?"

Jayonne looked up at her with wide eyes, like he had just been caught with his fingers in the cookie jar. Holding up his violin, he said, "Playing in a bit. You?"

"What does a bit mean exactly?" She remembered their last dance at the wedding ceremony and she had to admit the harper wasn't half bad. And he wasn't bad looking either. She had a decade on him but what did that matter? **He'd make such a fine rider. Foolish boy. Doesn't have too many turns left either.** "Because it's my Hatching and I am left here twiddling thumbs."

"You can learn to play this instead." He held up the violin, a cheeky grin on his face. "It's much funner than twiddling thumbs."

"My Da could play one...." For a moment a small shadow passed over her features but it was gone quickly. "I never had time to learn anything. And I still don't. Now I have a goldrider to train, a Weyr to run, a Wing to lead, and whatever else. So I choose to spend my hatching enjoying myself. So come on harper, one turn won't hurt you. By the way, you should Stand next time. Just to say you did it once. And hey, if you don't Impress-you'll prove me wrong and I'm sure you'll just love that." She moved to grab his arm but she gave him the chance to set the violin down. For a small woman, she had a grip.

He waved her off. "If you're going to start on me_again_about Standing, then I'll give a dance with you a pass." As he spoke, he placed the violin back in its case and shut the lid, so it was protected.

"Three sentences does not a start make. Just pointing out the obvious. Besides..now we have another gold which means it wouldn't hurt to Impress more bronzes so there might be some young men to chase her when the time comes. Weyrlife is what it is but...it's hard to imagine someone like Lanniya having her first Flight with someone at least twice her turns or more." That was what had happened to Rhosyn the last few turns, but it wasn't her first by a long shot so it was different.

Even as he took her hand and led her out to the dance floor, Jayonne asked, "And what makes you think I'd Impress bronze? After all, all my siblings have greens."

"Because you're very different from them. Besides...I've never seen you with a man that way. And yes, I've been watching. So that means bronze or brown." She gave him the once-over again and put her arms in their places when they reached the floor. "Brownriders are quiet, steady sorts. You're too charismatic for that. You actually remind me of a friend of mine and he rides bronze." Which one that was, she didn't volunteer.

"Oh, I've kissed a boy or two in my time." He grinned, letting her mull that one over. He wasn't going to volunteer that he had only been 14 turns_and_very drunk, and it had been a dare. Teasing Rhosyn was too fun to let a few facts get in the way.

"So? I've seen plenty of girls naked in my time. Doesn't mean anything." He was smiling too much. There was something... Enjoying the banter a little too much, she forgot about her worries for awhile. "I'll bet you a wineskin of good vintage that if you Stand at the next Hatching, you'll come off with a bronze." Nodding her head in challenge, she waited to see if he'd rise or not. "Or...shells...maybe I'll throw in one night." It wasn't as if she had any other prospects and he was more than capable. Plus Rhosyn wasn't ready to deal with a man yet. **N'vanik isn't keeping himself from enjoyment, why should you?** One thought of that man and his actual presence in the room was enough to crumble Rhosyn's calm façade. Seeking something-anything-she pulled herself closer to the harper. **He's weyrbred so at his turns he's probably well enough anyway**

"Ha! You'd have to just ply me with that vintage if you're going to get me out there on the Sands." Or in your bed, he added mentally. Not that Rhosyn wasn't attractive--she was--but no, she was seeing the Weyrleader of Dolphin Cove. And besides, Jayonne wasn't one to hop in and out of bed furs.

"I'll make a note of that, harper." Focusing once more on the dancing and trying to forget everything she didn't want to remember, she tried to imagine she was somewhere else-before-when she was happy. **I should be happy. I have another gold.** Still, things had not gone as she was hoping-not that they ever did. And now she feared the outcome.

Sensing her mind was not focused on the dance, Jayonne dipped her down, just to see the surprised look on her face.

She didn't lose her balance, though, and she warmed up to the harper's playful antics. Pushing aside her morose attitude, she embraced the music and the dance. Pushing back with a twirl of her own, Rhosyn wondered what the future would hold in store for the young man. Hopefully it was a bright one. He was a good person, after all.

"Good, you're back," he said as he spun her around to the music. He may not have been some fancy bronzerider but Jayonne wasn't going to let Rhosyn switch off when in his company.

Not too much longer and the song was done. Rhosyn took a moment to catch her breath and find her feet. Clapping for the harpers, she stepped back and nodded to Jayonne. "Thanks Jayonne. And do think about my offer aye?" Seeing one of the Lord Holders coming her way, she recognized duty and prepared herself. "And behave yourself." With a short peck on his cheek, she turned to the older man. "Well met!"
