Running through her hides, Rhosyn brought one up. Uetia was being transferred into her wing on healer's orders.
That brought a brow up. She wondered if U'das would be happy about that. Then again, he'd be in a Weyr for so long that he likely knew these things happened. Ah well. }:Sirjath, tell yours that mine is ready to see her:{
}: She sees you now, :{ Sirjath dutifully mediated the message. Uetia crossed the distance to the Weyrwoman's office and after knocking, entered.
"You wanted to see me, ma'am," Uetia said.
"Have a seat, Uetia." Rhosyn pulled out the hide she used to process new transfers. "Got a report from the healers ordering you into my Wing. I'm assuming you already know why. The Weyrleader got the same hide so he knows."
She started scribbling down the greenrider's name. "Unless..well are you keeping it?"
"Yes, I'm keeping it. Fostering, obviously," Uetia replied. She had no reason for not keeping this baby. She and Sabonus were happily weyrmated, although Sabonus was out to sea right now.
"Allright then..this is your first child I believe so I'll run through how it works." Rhosyn cleared her throat and then launched into her speech. "The first two and last two months of pregnancy you cannot /between/ at all. Between that, though, you can fly with my wing. You will receive regular healer checkups. At any time if they feel you should stop your duties, you will be on light duty or may be put on bed rest." Bringing her head up, she tried not to think about her own recent pregnancy. "If you ever feel anything isn't right, tell your Wingleader immediately."
"Yes, ma'am," Uetia tried to look suitably serious. She knew Rhosyn from playing in the same Waterball team.
"Good. Here's your new drills schedule and meeting calendar. Right now, Lenala is leading the wing since we have eggs on the Sands, but I'll still be handling the paperwork side of things. And of course you can come talk to me if you need to." She was always available to her wingriders, especially when she was grounded since she was in her office most of the time. "The duty roster will be changed to reflect you tomorrow morning. It's posted with the rest of them on the wing board." Rhosyn stopped to see if Uetia had any questions.
Uetia looked over the schedule. She was actually getting off with lighter duties while on queen's wing. Right now she felt fine, but eventually her pregnancy would affect what she could do. "Alright," she just said. She didn't have any questions.
"I'll let her know you'll be reporting in tomorrow. I've spoken with the Weyrleader but I was wondering..what are you and your dragon's strengths and weaknesses as a pair?" Rhosyn made notes for Lenala so she could better integrate them into the Wing.
"Sirjath is strong and fast in the air. She's lazy though, so if I'm not prodding her, she takes the easy way out or cuts corners. So I have to constantly pay attention to what she's doing...or she's not doing it," Uetia replied. "Other than that, she's your basic green."
Nodding, the goldrider took notes and made sure to scribble in some guidance for Lenala. **Don't really need a lazy green right now but at least there's not as much action where it's the same issue**
Rhosyn's expression made Uetia feel a bit defensive. It wasn't her fault she had end up with lazy green who liked to sleep. Uetia wasn't lazy herself, quite the opposite.
"And your own strengths and weaknesses?" That did it with her dragon, but how about her? K'sedel had managed to deal with Sirjath's habits, though, so Rhosyn didn't think it would be too much of an issue.
"Aw, come on, you've played waterball with me, you know those," Uetia said. "I'm strong, always been healthy. I do my share and then some. I like to challenge myself physically and I'm active. I hate just sitting down idle. I can give as well as get and I don't mind rough. I'm straight spoken and blunt. Some people find it offensive. I'm not very good at social occasion and dressing up. You want me behind your back in a tight spot. Just don't put me in to a room full of Lord Holders because I'll just end up putting my foot where my mouth is."
Most of that sounded exactly like Rhosyn herself but she didn't point that out. "Aye but playing waterball and flying Thread are two different things." She finished what she was writing and leaned back. "Allright Uetia, Lenala will integrate you into drills when you report and we'll see how things progress. Shouldn't be too hard."
"No, not hard at all," Uetia agreed, reading the schedule again.
