Saibra

R'enh leaned against the wall for all the world appearing casual as he
watched people surrounding Saibra and G'nir. Maybe it was a bit of
possessiveness in G'nir's movements or the way she leaned toward him
when she laughed. In any case it was clear that they were far closer
than they had been when she'd first arrived and called R'enh to her in
the night.

He smiled, all in all he was happy for her. R'enh wasn't the jealous
type after all and wished her the best in her new life. Happiness was
so rare that it should be cherished wherever it was found.

Once the crowd seemed to clear a bit and G'nir's attention was
elsewhere, he picked up a pair of glasses from a table nearby and
walked up to Saibra with one outstretched.

"Thirsty," he asked with a smile.

The Weyrwoman's eyes lit with a smile when the trim figure of her
favorite bronze rider appeared. She had not seen R'enh since the night
he came to comfort her. It had been her personal vow to quit seeking
him out so much. He had plenty of other women he liked to visit and
she had her duties as Senior Weyrwoman to keep her busy.

"Right on time as usual, R'enh." She said as she accepted the glass of
wine and sipped from it.

"Happy to be of service," he nodded with a genuine smile. "That was a
very nice hatching Saibra."

"No one was maimed horribly and all of the dragonets found a lifemate.
I would say that makes it a success." Saibra smiled before turning her
glass of wine up for another sip. She had already had few glasses,
everyone seemed to want to give her a glass in celebration, so she
decidedly took it easy on the glass in hand, "Are you already all
danced out? Or do you think you can spare one more for a friend?"

"A success yes," he agreed with a smiled. "I'll always have a dance
left in me for you," he added. He set his glass on a nearby table and
cocked an elbow to lead her to the floor. "You're looking lovely," he
said when he turned to face her.

"Thank you. You are looking handsome yourself." Saibra followed him to
the dance floor, the sway of her hips causing the shimmering material
of her dress to swish around her ankles.

"Why thank you ma'am," he smiled. Saibra had always been easy to dance
with and when the music was slow they could actually talk. "I heard
you had some power troubles there for a bit."

"Yes, I woke up one morning to G'nir pounding on my door. It was only
out for a few days but it made things interesting with a clutch on the
Sands, and Weyrlings to deal with...." Saibra shook her head, "Some of
the young dragonets actually thought that Chioneth would let them keep
warm on her Sands." She rolled her eyes to show what she thought of
that.

"Oh my," R'enh chuckled. "I'm sure Mnoranth would have chased them off
too if he was the clutch sire." They didn't have the possibility of
cold eggs or weyrlings for that matter at Dolphin Cove. "I heard
Dolphin Cove's hatching sands flooded once and the clutch had to be
brought here to hatch."

Saibra had never heard of such, and her eyes narrowed with curiosity,
"How did they move the eggs all that way?" And the poor gold who had
clutched the eggs had probably been a nightmare to deal with. She
could imagine what Chioneth would be like if they had to move her
eggs. The vision of a snarling, snapping gold dragon filled her mind.

}:Seems about right.:{ Chioneth agreed.

"Truthfully," he shook his head. "I don't really know. N'vanik told me
about it though. There was a bad hurricane and that is the reason for
all of the rock walls and barriers in front of the hatching cavern. So
it can't happen again."

As the music began again she easily fell into step with R'enh, once
again admiring how well he moved on the dance floor. Most all
dragonriders knew the traditional dances, but that didn't mean they
were particularly good at them. Not like R'enh.

She glided feather light in his arms and remembered the steps they'd
practiced in the past. He'd hoped to be her clutch sire at some point
and had coordinated a few passes for them to impress the onlookers.
R'enh smiled and swirled them around and through the other couples.
"Still delightful to dance with Saibra," he said with a wink.

"You as well." Dancing with R'enh brought back the many different
memories of their love making and how well R'enh had been at that as
well. Saibra felt a stab of nostalgia as she thought back to how
carefree and easy their casual relationship had been and the times
they had spent together out on the beach. She quickly tried to squash
down those feelings, they were too complicated and those feelings made
it difficult for her to be satisfied at Dragonsfall.

As they danced the final steps a bit of nostalgia lit his eyes as
well. Other guests surged forward to claim the attention of the
beautiful Weyrwoman, so he gave her a warm look and lifted her hand to
his lips, softly kissing her palm. "Only a thought away," he said as
he backed away and turned to melt into the crowd.
