The Rumors Are True!

Writers: Chelle
Date Posted: 26th October 2014

Characters: Rhosyn
Description: Rhosyn tells the Weyr the good news.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 9, day 16 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: K'sedel, H'vack, Lenala

They were flying Fall tomorrow. Of course Rhosyn wouldn't be going with them
since she was grounded until the Hatching. Lenala would have everything in hand though. Everything
had been kept quiet so the Weyrwoman found herself smiling, ready to give the news. Her Weyrfolk would
have something to smile about as they battled Thread. The Weyrlingmaster had already been informed
and the Searchriders had been sent out this morning with their orders.

Standing up and walking in front of the head table during the evening meal-the best time to catch everyone
in one place, she put her arm up to let them know to quiet down. When the Dining Cavern hushed, Rhosyn
addressed her Weyrfolk.

"To those of you flying tomorrow, I bid you clear skies. I'll be here for you when you get back." She'd be with
the dragonhealers for those that didn't last the Fall either, but she didn't say that. "I also wanted to tell everyone
that the Weyrleader and I are very happy to announce that Orlaith has given us 35 eggs to Hatch and fill the
Wings."

There were several shouts and mug bangings at that and she waited until the noise quieted down again before
continuing. "One of those eggs, we are hoping, will be presenting us with a golden dragonet in another month
or so." First there was quiet as the information processed and then Rhosyn was greeted with pure joy. The noise
was unstoppable and she didn't try to quiet them then. Instead, she walked back to her place with her Weyrleader
and sat down to her meal.

In that moment, all the times she had been put down and laughed at was washed away. This was her Weyr and
she would do her duty by it and lead it through this Pass. Her resolve hardened and there was no doubting that
the goldrider there was committed to those folk, with all of her flaws. Their shouts told her that they had accepted
her as theirs, no matter what anyone said.

Somewhere in that crowd would be the small form of her own daughter. Nisheyl would be comforted and secured
by another mother, but perhaps someday she would stand tall just like her birth mother and lead her own folk into
the future. Or if she didn't, Rhosyn would still be satisfied. At least she would have the choice and that was all that
mattered.
