A little sooner than had been expected, Ninaine pushed her way through
the entrance of T'lat's weyr, her expression still stunned and
uncertain. She didn't say anything at first, just walked to a chair
and sat. Her eyes lifted to find T'lat and she blinked slowly. "He
leaves his duty in a candlemark."
"Mmm," he mused and just watched her. The stunned look was a giveaway.
"I"m guessing you got kissed."
She nodded slowly, unable to keep her fingers from ghosting over her
lips. She could still feel the gentle press of his mouth against
hers. "He asked me if he could. I let him." She blinked and her eyes
widened. "He wants me to come to his weyr in a candlemark."
"Oh good," he said rubbing his hands together. "Now we have to get you
ready."
She stared at him and quickly rose, shaking her head. "I can't. I'm
not ready." She swallowed, remembering all to clearly the regular
admonitions to save herself for marriage. She would never marry now,
she realized, but her innocence was really all she had left to cling
to. "It'll hurt. I cant do it. I'll tell Luneth to tell Haloth that I
can't come. He'll understand."
T'lat half smiled. "So does he kiss good?"
She had been about to tell Luneth to relay the message when T'lat
interrupted her thoughts. She blinked. "Well, yes, I think so. I mean,
I liked it. I've never kissed anyone else." She paused and touched her
mouth. "He didn't do the tongue thing this time." Her brow furrowed as
she turned back to him. "Does that mean I did something wrong?"
"Sooooo... if you liked it, why wouldn't you like the rest?" He shook
his head at her question. "No, he's just being really really nice. I
think he really really wants you to like it." A small smirk lurked in
the depths of his eyes.
She had liked the tongue thing, actually. That intimate invasion had
been...thrilling. She gave a visible shiver and rubbed at her arms.
Finally she chewed on her bottom lip. "That's what I'm afraid of. That
I'll like it. Even if it hurts. What if I like it too much? Or what if
I hate it?"
"Why would that make you afraid?" Some of the girls notions completely
confused him.
"I don't know." She admitted and sat back down on the chair. "People
here say its great, but I was taught it was just for the men's
pleasure. To make children." She looked down at her hands. "What if I
become one of those women who sleep around? I don't want to be like
that."
"You have the strangest ideas of anyone I've ever met," T'lat shook
his head and chuckled. "Do you think it's like a disease or something
you catch that will make you sleep around against your will? You get
to choose how you do it and with whom, well except for flights, then
Luneth will choose for you. And even then you don't have to stay once
you wake up."
"So...after this, if I go, I won't have to do it again until Luneth
rises and then I can just leave after?" Her brow knit. Maybe if she
just got it over with, she could finally stop fretting so much about
it. Just getting it over with didn't sound too bad. It was better for
Luneth, right? And then she could do things right and wait until she
was properly weyrmated. "So..I should just get it over with."
T'lat looked at her carefully and then sighed. "Yes,if that's what you
want."
"So what do I do?" She looked up at him. "I mean, I'd know if it was
my wedding night. Is this going to be different? My mother would have
helped me get ready."
"Kind of like a wedding night I guess. Except I doubt N'call will jump
on you like a green boy whos never been kissed."
"Oh, most men already have experience before their weddings. It's expected."
Her thoughts probably didn't include that men at the Hold may have an
experience or two but when they married they probably hadn't been with
anyone for months or even turns. It certainly made a difference in how
'hungry' they were. "In any case, he won't jump on you so just try to
relax and let him lead. I'm sure you'll have a nice time. But first! A
bath."
She had her own thoughts about the time she might have. "A bath. Yes,
I suppose that should happen." She grimaced. "The public baths, then.
I hate those things."
"I know you do," he said. "But there isn't anyplace else right now."
"I guess...I guess I'll wear a dress. That's the right thing to do,
isn't it? A dress?" Her brow furrowed. "Wait, you're not a girl, you
don't wear them." She rubbed at her eyes. "This is all so
complicated."
"Ninaine," he said touching her wrist. "Don't get so upset, it's not
that hard. Wear whatever you want though some nice undies would be
pretty. I'll bet he'd like that."
She flushed. "Uhm...okay." She took a deep breath, then another.
"Thank you...I don't know if I could do this without you." She bit her
lip. "Would you help me get ready so I don't mess anything up?"
He chuckled but nodded. "Of course. But first bath." He shooed her
toward the door.
