Barenziah was carrying an armful of towels up from the laundry
quarters. The corridor was long and deserted, not many people used it
other than drudges. When a hand grabbed her elbow and jerked her
inside one of the storage closets she nearly dropped the load of
towels she had been carrying.

For a moment her heart slammed in her chest but as her eyes adjusted
in the darkness she found herself alone with her favorite person.

"What are you doing?" She whispered to Zathris with a laugh.

"Stealing you away for a few moments." Zathris carefully eased the
lock on the door and and uncovered a glow he'd found that still clung
to some luminescence. Although Amber hills had electricity some of
the older storage closets hadn't been wired. At one point Zathris
thought he should take care of it but he was suddenly glad he hadn't.
It wasn't much, but they didn't need much.

The redhead chuckled and set the stack of towels down on a nearby
table. She glanced around the old storage room. Inside were some old
pieces of furniture, along with drapery and tapestries. Barenziah
looked at Zathris through the soft glow of light, "Well, you have my
attention."

"All of your attention?" Zathris crossed back over to her and curled
an arm around her so her soft, warm body pressed against his own. His
hand gently pressed a lock of hair behind her ear before it trailed
over the side of her face and down to knead gently at her breast.
"You sure?"

Barenziah's voice became a husky purr, "Positive." Her fingers skimmed
his tunic.

His hand pried itself away from her softness to eagerly untie the
laces to her bodice. "Women wear far too much clothing." He murmured
as he planted a kiss on her jaw, then her neck while his hands
continued to rid her of the offending cloth.

"I'll agree with you there." She said with a smile as she shimmied out
of the skirt that dropped around her ankles. Rolling her shoulders rid
her of her blouse. Left in only the thin, white shift that she wore
underneath, Barenziah uncinched Zathris's belt and unlaced his
trousers.

"Do you really need the shift? It would save me some time and effort
if you didn't bother wearing one." Zathris nipped lightly at an
earlobe as he tugged at the shift. He broke contact only so he could
finally rid her of the offending cloth, then pressed her against the
cool stone wall as his hands began to wander all over her body. "Maybe
you should just not wear any clothes at all ever again."

The wall behind her was cool to her skin, but Zathri's skin was warm,
hot even, and the combination did amazing things to her desire. "I
believe people would stare." She replied as she gave his pants a tug,
pushing them over his hips and to the floor with ease.

"No, they wouldn't, because I would keep you all for myself in my
rooms." He cackled, no sincerity in such a scenario, but he had to
admit, the idea had merit, even if it was impossible.

"Mmm, if only that could be true." Barenziah curled one shapely leg
around Zathris's hips, using the wall and his body to give her
leverage and balance as her lips began a passionate assault on his
neck.

Barenziah couldn't wipe the smile from her face as she slowly began
putting her clothes back on. She glanced at him as she flicked her
hair over her shoulder. The spontaneity of their relationship and its
forbidden nature somehow seemed to make it even more alluring.

"Not the most romantic spot." Zathris wasn't sorry one bit though.
"I'll try to make it up to you later." He grinned as he pulled on his
trousers, then snatched his tunic from the floor.

"Mmmm, I like the sounds of that milord." She purred, winking one blue
eye at him as she twisted her fiery hair up and pinned it in place
with a couple of hair combs.

"It's a shame we both have to get back to work." Zathris would have
liked to linger, but Benani had to finish her duties and he had to
finish his own. "I'll let you leave first then I'll follow in a few
minutes."

She was just about to reply when the door latch jiggled and a voice on
the other side said, "Why is this door locked?" Barenziah turned wide,
alarmed eyes onto Zathris.

"Hide!" She hissed, giving him a shove toward the corner as she turned
and picked up the towels that she had been carrying earlier.

"What? Oh...shaffit." Zathris ducked down behind a heavy shelf piled
with various items. Hopefully no one would actually come further than
a few feet into the closet.

Barenziah gave her clothes one last check and then snatched the towels
back into her arms before unlocking the door, "Sofeya!" She smiled at
the woman on the other side, "I must have accidentally bumped the
latch into place." She hoped Zathris had found an appropriate hiding
place.

Sofeya jammed her fists against her hips and eyed the woman up and
down. "Be more careful. Ah, towels. Are there any more? We seem to
be out of the main storage and evidently there's an issue down in
laundry." Which meant no fresh towels for Chupsin, so Sofeya had been
searching elsewhere.

"You can take these," Barenziah offered, mostly just to get Sofeya to
leave. "I will round up some more to carry upstairs."

"Hm. Okay." Sofeya eyed Barenziah, then shrugged. Why should she
complain about having someone else make her job a little easier? "Be
more careful with the latch next time. Other people around here have
to work too." And with that, she flounced off.

**I am going to punch her in the nose some day.** Barenziah thought darkly.

"All clear. I am leaving. See you later." She spoke, knowing Zathris
was listening and then slipped out of the storage room.
