Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 8, day 19 of Turn 7
His hand burned at her waist and she went still, staring up at him.
**This is okay,** she told herself. **It doesn't mean anything. ** She
repeated it in her mind as she slowly nodded
}: He's touching. I don't like it. :{ Luneth suddenly interjected, her
inner voice a grumble.
There was a sudden gleam of eyes away from the fire and Ninaine felt
rather than heard the protesting thump of her tail. **Haloth is
probably out there, you know.**
Luneth's grumbling protests immediately silenced, but there was a
disgruntled glare sent N'call's way. Ninaine took a deep breath and
began to hesitantly follow the steps, her motions jerky at first.
Slowly as the music tempo quickened, her posture loosened, her feet
becoming more sure. The turns of training kicked in and she became
graceful as she began to feel the music. Joy began to grow in her and
she finally flashed a wide smile.
N'call saw that smile and felt a little victory and a great deal of
pleasure at the sight. **Shes' enjoying herself for once.** He grinned
as she loosened up and became a very responsive partner in the dance.
}:See:{ Haloth said to Luneth. }:Good touching makes yours happy.:{
}:I don't like it. I'm not happy. :{ Luneth grumbled with a definite
sulky note to her voice. }: He should not be touching her at all. :{
As the music quickened, Ninaine began to laugh as her feet followed
the beat, her eyes shining. Her hair tugged its way out of her jacket
and flung around her as she moved and spun. The music came to an end
and she had to stumble to a stop and stilled, breath heaving, but a
light in her eyes.
}:Taste her mind voice:{ Haloth replied to the little green. }:Share
her happiness. Don't you want yours to be happy?:{
N'call spun her one last time and bowed with a grin. "That was fun
Ninaine," he grinned down at her. "Thank you for the dance." She did
look lovely in the firelight with her hair around her shoulders and
the lights in her eyes. Maybe someday someone would help her believe
that.
The little green sulked and thumped her tail as she watched Ninaine
interact with Haloth's. }: Yes. :{ She admitted grudgingly. }: I do
want her happy. But I still don't like Yours touching her. She's Mine.
not his. And he made her cry before. So he shouldn't touch. He's mean.
:{
Ninaine paid little attention to the conversation between her green
and the bronze. Her attention was focused solely on the enjoyment
she'd just had. It seemed like forever since she'd laughed and smiled
like that. "That was fun." She pushed her hair from her face, then
took a deep breath, as she looked up at him. Her smile was bright as
her eyes met his. She took a step towards him, and then stopped, eyes
slightly widening as she remembered herself. She looked quickly down,
swallowed and cleared her throat." Thank you."
Haloth's mind voice chuckled at the young green. }:Soon you will enjoy
good touching,:{ the big bronze assured her. }:Maybe I should fly
you someday and show you how a fall from the sky can make us all
happy:{
"Thank _you_," he said and placed her hand oh his arm to escort her
back to where they'd left their drinks and the little whistle. He
walked with her as if they were in a fine drawing room instead of a
sandy lake beach. Picking up her glass he handed it back to her. HIs
eye were warm as was his smile. "You're going to do fine Ninaine," he
said softly.
There was a long pause as Luneth considered that and the thumping of
her tail stopped. A little thrill went through the green, unbidden and
suddenly welcome, and for the first time, Luneth preened under the
attention. }: You'll have to catch me first. :{
Her fingers trembled a bit as they laid on his arm and as they went
back to the spot away from the flames, the air was a little chillier.
"Now that I've changed enough to make everyone happy, you mean?" That
was out of her mouth before she could stop it. She bit her lower lip
and took the glass, staring at the contents."Sorry. I shouldn't have said that."
}:I'm sure you're very fast:{ the bronze acknowledge and if dragons
could smile he would have. }:I'll have to work very hard to catch
you.:{
"But weren't you just having fun," he chided her softly. "I'm happy
for _you_," he added. He kept having to catch himself and keep from
shortening her name. But he had really enjoyed their dance and hoped
they'd do it again. "It was nice to see you laughing and smiling and
having a good time out there. I like that Ninaine... very much," he
said and took a drink of his wine. Indeed what had happened out there
dancing had been like watching a flower bloom.
}:Yes, you will. :{ Luneth shifted proudly on her feet then paused. }:
But I'm really not supposed to think about that yet, you know. :{ Her
inner voice took on a lecturing tone, something she had obviously
heard before. }: Mating isn't about having fun. It is very serious. {
The little green's attention was completely away from her lifemate,
now focused solely on the bronze.
Staring down at her glass, Ninaine chewed on her bottom lip, but
nodded. She had been having fun. The dancing had been pure enjoyment
and her cheeks were still flushed from it, but now also from his
compliment. "It was fun. I haven't laughed like that in a long time."
}:But it can also be fun,:{ he answered right away. }:Someday I'll
show you.:{ There was the kind of assurance only a bronze could have
in his tone that made it inevitable to his own mind.
"Then we'll have to do it again sometime," he smiled. "Thank you
again," he smiled not wanting to continue to make her uncomfortable.
**nicely done.**
