Location: River Bluff Weyr

"M'galec, a moment of your time please."
"Of course, sir," his Second responded, setting his hides aside.
As the door closed behind them, J'an took a seat behind his desk, and gestured for the other bronzerider to sit. "I heard about your discussion with the Weyrleader."
"Yes?" M'galec nodded, no emotion showing on his face.
"And that is what I wanted to talk to you about. You cannot just go in there like that."
One of M'galec's eyebrows raised. "Why is that?"
Pushing his personal feelings to one side, J'an said, "He is the Weyrleader, whatever you may think of him personally, or your relationships with others in the Weyr. You cannot just go marching in there like that questioning decisions. There are better ways perhaps."
M'galec sighed tolerantly. "I am not some random rider walking into the Weyrleader's office to give my opinion, sir. I am a healer, and a healer is obliged to question decisions that endanger riders."
"Perhaps you should have voiced those concerns to the Weyrhealer first.
Things such as this might be coloured by the fact that you are weyrmated to Lenala."
"Does that matter? You cannot change the validity of facts depending on who is speaking them. They are as true when I say them as they are when the Weyrhealer speaks them."
"I am just suggesting that perhaps you might have been more diplomatic about this, and yes you should have discussed it with Abrei. She might feel the same as you."
"Every healer would feel the way I do, sir." His second said confidently. "And it does not matter if I am the Weyrhealer or an apprentice. It does not change the fact that the Weyrleader is wrong and too stubborn and proud to see reason. He is endangering his riders and is being utterly irresponsible. I should not have to _tell_ him to talk to a healer before passing judgement on a rider's mental well-being when he himself has no knowledge on the subject, sir."
"That is his call to make, not yours."
M'galec voice grew hard and resolute. "You may think that a Weyrleader is the ultamate authority. But you are wrong. No Weyrleader is above the wellbeing of their riders. _None_."
"I'm just trying to say that there are ways of doing things. Ways that are perhaps less 'confrontational'?"
"It would not have been confrontational if the man had listened to reason," the Second pointed out.
"And maybe you made it that way." J'an sighed. "You can come over as a little brusque shall we say."
"Only when I am right, sir."
That was greeted by another sigh. Why was this man so, so annoying.
"Just think about thinks a little more before you go jumping in. The Weyrleader could easily consider this to be the actions of an upset weyrmate, not a concerned healer."
M'galec shrugged. "And I consider his decisions to be ignorant and uneducated. I suppose we both have our biases."
"We probably do, but there are ways and means of dealing with them."
"Well, they will be delt with. I will make sure of that."
And Jan was sure that M'galec would do just that, deal with them.
