Description: The junior weyrlings have a first aid class. Poor T'lat.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 7, day 5 of Turn 7
"Taren... perhaps an example? how to bandage, what to look for? I'll
volunteer for bandaging, and maybe T'lat can be your example. " The
Weyrlingmaster stood up from his lean and moved back toward the front
of the class. "Or what to do if you see someone choking?"
"With choking, if slap at the back doesn't help, you need to stand
behind the victim, press your fists against solar plexus, this spot
here," Taren patted with his hand the correct spot in his torso, "and
press upwards. Be careful, too much force and you break ribs," he
continued. "With bleeding injuries, the same three rule applies than
with strains or over extensions: elevation, compression and cold. You
try to stem the bleeding with tourniquet, and like all liquids, blood
doesn't like to flow uphill. Cold makes veins shrink and slows
bleeding. Of course, much depends how large the wound is. Now, we can
try bandaging," he lifted up a roll of bandage. "And I believe the
weyrlingmaster just volunteered." He tossed the roll to J'darin.
Ninaine jotted down notes on her hide but stilled, her face paling a
bit as J'darin was given the roll of bandages. She should have been
the one bandaging him.
Genna leaned back in her chair to give T'lat a short prod. "I think
you're up," she whispered.
J'darin caught the roll of bandages with his unscratched hand, though
the one he caught it with was still obviously scarred. He had
certainly faced their enemy and survived enough to understand the fear
and the tough job it was to face Thread... and win.
"Well, how many times does a youngling get to have the Weyrlingmaster
at their mercy?" He grinned at T'lat, who suddenly appeared shy.
And there was no way he could get out of it. He struggled against the
intense feelings that were rushing through him as he reached out to
take the roll of bandages from the Weyrlingmaster. Maybe if he didn't
look at the man towering over him he could control the trembling in
his hands. The man was far too handsome for the young greenrider's
peace of mind. His little Faucheth started squirming and questioning
him though he tried valiantly to keep his thoughts in line and just
wrap the bandage as the healer had told him. "There," he said when
he'd finished and stepped back without looking up once into the
intense blue eyes.
J'darin was slightly oblivious to the young weyrling's.. interest...
but he did note how he didn't look up at him while he was busy
wrapping.
He stood very still and let T'lat do his work before nodding in
agreement with the end result. "You did very well, T'lat. Nice
touch!" the bronzerider had no idea of how he was impacting the
young man, so he reached out with his unbandaged hand and patted him
on the shoulder.
"Well done, lad. Well done. We'll work on your shyness, eh?" He
teased, getting nothing but that T'lat would rather not be in the
front of the class. "Something is bothering Faucheth, too. Why
don't you go and see about her?" He had seen the dragonette bouncing
around where T'lat had left her.
He turned back to the class. "Anyone else want to bandage the
Weyrlingmaster? Or hit him then apply numbweed?" He added the last
to make sure they were all paying attention.
Gelira did her best to pay attention, but the fact that the little
babe inside her had decided now was the perfect time to wake up and do
alittle dance on her bladder. Thankfully her dragonhealing training
also covered alot of basic first aid as well, so much of what they
were learning was not new to her.
}:You have that need again,:{ Charayoth stated simply to her rider.
The little green had noted that Gelira often had to use the
facilities.
**It's the way my baby, my egg, sits on things,** she explained to her
her lifemate once again. **I think I can make it to the end of class
this time.**
Charayoth turned and looked at her rider with a hint of a dragon's
smile. }:We shall see,:{ she remarked, knowing Gelira often couldn't
seem to hold it once that pressure feeling started.
"As a healer, I object to punching people," Taren added in with amused
tone. "And never apply numbweed to bare skin unless it's been washed
with redworth first."
Poor T'lat had crumpled completely embarrassed into his chair and
Faucheth had tried to wrap herself around him. Truthfully he wanted to
run away from the class if that were possible but now all he could see
was the warm eyes of the Weyrlingmaster. **Nice touch** reverberated
in his head until he hid his face against his lifemate.
"I'd like to give it a go, the bandaging that is," Genna said after
raising her hand, eager to draw attention away from the poor T'lat.
She didn't know what was wrong with him, but she made a mental note to
find out later.
"Go ahead," Taren said with gesture towards the supplies on the table.
