}: Are they going to hurt people so you can learn to patch them up? :{
Lissath spoke with morbid curiosity as she followed her lifemate to
class.

Genna could only laugh to herself as she entered the classroom,
finding Lissath's favorite seat as she waited for her classmates to
join them.

**No dear, I'm betting they won't.**

Taren was already sitting there, as a today's guest-lecturer. He
absently fiddled with the supplies and hides he had brought for the
lesson.

J'darin moved up to the front near Taren and addressed the class.
"Today we are going to have a first aid lesson. A people first aid
lesson, that is. We will especially show the injuries that are
common to weyrlings during training and that happen later, once you
all go to fly Thread. This is Taren, he's the Weyrhealer. He's
going to doing the talking today. But... I want you all to listen
to him as if it were me or one of my staff talking, alright?" He
glanced around the class to make sure all were paying attention.

"The things you learn today might save your life, or especially one of
your future wingmate's lives. Learn and remember... " He stepped
back to the rear of the class, nodding to Taren.

"Start when you're ready, Taren."

"Thank you, Weyrlingmaster," Taren said with courteous half bow. "Now,
if someone was so kind and deal these out for everyone?" he asked and
patted the pile of hides. "These are basic instructions for first aid.
I recommend you save the hide and read through it now and then."

Ninaine entered quietly, taking her seat and promptly felt the warmth
of Luneth press against her leg. The little green was quieter than
normal, simply pressing against her lifemate and keeping her head
down. Ninaine was sure she knew the reason why. Considering what
happened to J'darin, it was rather ironic that a first aid class had
been scheduled so closely after. She dropped her hand to Luneth's
hide, her touch soothing.

Genna gladly stepped forward to take the hides. Passing them around,
her eyes lingered on Ninaine as they did so often. She'd heard of the
scene Luneth had made with J'darin and she couldn't help but feel a
little annoyed with the girl. Yet, she pasted on a kind smile as she
handed over the hide and then moved on to the next person.

T'lat too went forward and began distributing the hides on the other
side of the room.

The Weyrlingmaster still wore a bandage on his forearm, mostly hidden
under his long-sleeve tunic, but his eyes found Ninaine and Luneth as
they entered and fastened on them for a moment. He hadn't seen too
much improvement in the pair yet, and Luneth was still terrified of
his bronze. Which, he thought, might be to the good. If he could
find a way to use that without scaring her further, and scarring her
for life!

Once the hides were passed out, he stopped by Taren once more. "If
you need a live example, I've got some nice dragonette scratches on my
arm." His lips quirked in a half smile before he left the front of
the class, taking a hide of his own from T'lat as he passed him.
"Thank you lad." He said, then found a comfortable to lean, and hope
his scratches didn't open up and bleed again.

"Scratches aren't the usual dragonrider injuries," Taren said.
"Scorings are, as well as sprains, strains and over extensions. And
you would be amazed how many sunburns I treat considering
Dragonsfall's climate," Taren continued.

At the comment from J'darin, Ninaine wanted to shrink down in her
chair. She flicked a gaze at Luneth, who hung her head sheepishly and
promptly laid down, snugly curling herself around Ninaine's chair. She
didn't look at Genna as she passed the hide, just taking it without
comment. She listened to Taren, folding her hands down on the desk in
prim decorum.

Poor T'lat was tongue tied with the incredible blue eyes of the
Weyrlingmaster turned on him and he could only watch riveted as the
man walked over to the wall. "Yes sir," he murmured.

}:What's wrong mine?:{ Faucheth queried. **Nothing,** he replied and
spun around snapping his jaw shut and sliding back into his seat.**I'm
just... nothing.** he sent soothing thoughts and scratched her eye
ridges until her eyes closed in bliss. But he didn't hear a word Taren
was saying and tried very hard not to turn and peer over his shoulder
at J'darin.

Taren continued his lesson, explaining the nature of different
injuries and how to treat them. He tried to keep in simple, taking in
consideration that his audience was mostly teenagers.

J'darin peered into the classroom at the young T'lat, thinking him
distracted. Well, first aid class was not all that exciting.
