Ninaine quickly pulled her hand from N'call's, a flash of relief
threading through her. Saved by angry dragonet. "I have to go to
Luneth. She's awake."
"No" he said explosively and snagged her hand again preventing her
from running toward her lifemate. He'd 'felt' Haloth launch from the
heights and land with a roar between his and the angry green. "Control
your emotions now" he commanded Ninaine.
Haloth's massive front leg snaked out and trapped the little green
weyrling. }:Stop,:{ he roared at her and trapped her with his talons.
}:You may not attack mine. He is not hurting yours and will bring her
to you.:{
Ninaine would have been right where Haloth had landed had he not
stopped her. "Understand this," he ground out. "Every dragon in the
weyr is on guard because of what your little dragon did to J'darin. It
will not be allowed again." He pulled her around to look directly into
her eyes. "Do you understand me? Haloth is her sire and will now
discipline her. _You_ must from now on. This isn't a choice for you."
Luneth gave a loud squawk of shock as Haloth descended on her,
bringing herself to a jarring stop before she tumbled into his
trapping talons. She stared up at her sire with big, rapidly whirling
eyes. She immediately began a plaintive wail. }: I need Mine! I need
her! She's upset! She's too far away! He's touching her! No touching!
Make him stop! You're mean! Lemme go!:{ Luneth began the high pitched
wails that had brought her rider before when they were separated,
straining to peer around Haloth's talons to see Ninaine.
Ninaine stared at N'call with wide eyes, both unused to the physical
contact and the direct, angry gaze he gave her. J'darin had been angry
at Luneth, but had never put hands on her. Luneth's high pitched cries
made her wince and she flicked a glance towards her green before
visibly swallowing. **Luneth...stop.**
}: Tell him to let you go! No touching! No..:{
**Stop it! Right now! You're making it worse!** Ninaine's eyes
remained on N'call, her face pale. **That's enough!**
Luneth's cries halted and she hunkered down, whimpering.
Haloth swatted her lightly with his tail. }:Stop,:{ he told the green.
}:Yours is not being hurt by touching. There is good touching and bad
touching. Learn the difference. You shall not attack humans or
dragons... ever. Your teeth are for food and firestone.:{
N'call lead Ninaine around the front of the big bronze and toward her
lifemate but stopped short of them being able to reach each other.
"You will control your lifemate from now on. She will not control
you."
Luneth gave a yip at the swat, more from surprise than from actual
hurt. She stared up at Haloth, the whimpers dying in her throat. She
didn't like the touching and she didn't want to share her lifemate
with anyone. But she didn't like Haloth or Hasaarth yelling at her
either. The embarrassment from her lifemate was also a sting that she
didn't want. She lowered her head to the ground in acquiescence and
submission, her body trembling.
As she was led around Haloth, Ninaine's eyes lowered and she spoke in
a whisper. "Yes, sir."
He put a finger under her chin and lifted her face to look at him.
"You are her boss," he said gently. "You are more important to her
than anything else. Of course she wants to be selfish with you. But
you have to _be_ her boss not the other way around." His hands went to
her shoulders. "Alright?" After a moment he smiled and let go of her.
"Go to her now."
And with that, Haloth let the little one loose. But he watched her
carefully for any sign of agression against his.
As his hand touched her chin, she stiffened, but didn't move away and
her eyes didn't meet his. When his hands went to her shoulders, she
nodded slowly. "Yes, sir." She didn't answer his smile and instead
stepped backwards away from him to go to Luneth.
The little green remained hunched, not moving and not even daring to
look at Haloth's. The first touch of Ninaine's hand against her head
eased the trembling. }: I'm sorry, Haloth. I'll behave. :{ Ninaine
laid her head against Luneth's side and the little green relaxed
further.
N'call sighed, there was so much pain in the girl and she still
resisted the smallest attempt at friendliness. He hadn't been old
enough to see the signs before but this time he felt responsible. This
time he was going to keep an eye on her. He knew the Weyrlingmasters
were trying to get through to her but... maybe, just maybe, he and
Haloth had.
