Description: L'pin takes Chaysea for a swim in a secluded area, and they discuss
moving things a little further.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 7, day 21 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: S'avn, R'enh,
Chaysea stood motionless in her weyr for a long time, simply staring
down at the pair of breeches on her bed. She was currently in a
one-piece bathing suit, and that felt scandalous enough, but add a
pair of pants to the equation and she was the Hold's equivalent of a
whore. Thirty-plus Turns of conditioning were hard to break, despite
the fact that breeches were _sensible_. She was going to be riding on
a dragon that day, going with L'pin and his blue out to a beach where
they could do some swimming. Mounting and unmounting in a skirt was a
hassle and the breeches would simplify that tremendously.
The breeches also showcased her lean thighs and perfectly rounded butt
as well, all of which made her blush as if she were naked.
"Come on, Kay, it's just a pair of breeches. It is not the end of the
world. Only L'pin will see." And she did like L'pin, perhaps too much
considering she had no idea of what he thought about her in return.
Tugging on the breeches over her swimsuit, she decidedly did _not_
look in the mirror as she pulled on a sleeveless, loose tunic, and
then stamped into a pair of knee-high boots. The clothes felt foreign
to her and so much less bulky, and Faranth, so much _cooler_ than the
layers of skirts and underclothes that she normally wore.
A knock at her door made her jump, and she knew the moment of truth
had arrived. Opening the door, she fixed what she hoped was a casual
smile on her face, "L'pin."
The bluerider had taken some extra care with his appearance today. His
hair was still shaggy, but he'd brushed it out, and picked out a beige
tunic that was neither threadbare or patched, though it had taken some
time to find one. "Excuse me, I've got orders to deliver this basket
to the pretty lady who lives in this weyr."
Chaysea smiled, "Oh you do?" She stepped back and motioned him inside,
"Come on, I just need to grab a towel and I will be ready to go."
"Excellent. I'm looking forward to a pleasant day out."
"Me too." She said, trying not to feel self-conscious in her pants as
she grabbed a towel and flipped it over her shoulder, "Let's go."
Walking by her side felt companionable. "You said you've ridden a blue
before, right? Chaneth isn't nearly as scary as a bronze, and he's
interested in meeting you." He was more sociable than most with
non-riders, actually.
Chaysea smiled up at him as they walked, "Yes, S'avn and his blue
Mayfeth are the ones that brought me to the Weyr.... Which is probably
one of the reasons why I can actually remember both of their names
together." For a non-rider remembering a dragonrider's dragon's name
was something of a challenge.
"Chaneth might be a little bit bigger," he said with a hint of pride.
"But I think you'll still be alright. My next question is, a straight
flight out there or /between/?"
"I have been /between/." Chaysea said, although she didn't add that
/between/ was a very strange experience. She heard that it was
different for dragonriders, who were connected to their dragons, but
for her it was like suddenly going blind and losing all of your other
senses as well. "Maybe we can just fly straight there if it doesn't
take too long? The weather is nice today." She added.
They were at the bowl now, and he stopped and smiled at her. "It'll be
a beautiful flight, and you'll get to see a whole new side of Pern
from the air."
Chaneth was waiting. L'pin took a moment to set up the straps and
secure the basket. Then he turned back and offered a hand. "Your ride
awaits."
Chaneth spoiled the dramatic effect by bringing his head around to sniff
at her.
Chaysea's eyes lit up as the blue looked her way, his sniff making
the loose fabric of her tunic ruffle, "Oh, L'pin, he is so beautiful."
The most gorgeous color of blue she had ever seen.
He beamed at her, pleased she liked his lifemate. "He appreciates the
compliment," he passed on, before tapping the blue's side. The dragon
settled even lower to the ground.
"Need a hand?"
"Of course." Chaysea smiled. She was by no means vain enough to think
that she could do it on her own.
Once L'pin had her on Chaneth's neckridge she smiled and peered around
the Weyrbowl at the others who were busy going about their day.
Sitting astride a dragon was definitely a lot easier with pants, she
determined.
He mounted afterwards and said "hold on!" before mentally telling
Chaneth to go aloft. The blue was mindful of his passenger and leapt
up as gently as he could, using slow, steady wingbeats to carry them
aloft. Once he was properly airborne, he began to fly along the
coastline, low enough that they could see the dolphins leaping out of
the water and watch the waves. It was only a few minutes flight to a
section of the beach where the sand was an unusual orange and the
waves were calmer.
"A smooth ride, I hope?" he queried when Chaneth had landed.
Chaysea smiled as she was helped to the ground, "It was perfect." And
truly it had been a breathtaking ride. She thought the dragonriders
very lucky people to be able to just get on their dragon and go
whenever they wanted. She carried her towel across the sand and spread
it out. Being able to be somewhere semi-private to swim was nice, and
she didn't have to look at a bunch of half-naked, or naked in some
cases, dragonriders. Although, she glanced over her shoulder at L'pin,
who was grabbing the basket, she didn't mind seeing a half-naked
L'pin.
"Chaneth is very good at giving gentle rides. Some other blues like to
show off their speed and agility, but I didn't want him to scare you off
forever." He dug out some space in the sand, then settled the basket into
it before putting down his towel and removing his shoes.
"I have a swimming shirt I can wear, if it would make you more
comfortable," he offered.
The Headwoman flashed a grin and held up her hand, "It is not
necessary. R'enh did some... therapy," she blushed a little
remembering their lesson together, "and I think I can handle it." She
had certainly had to handle looking at R'enh's very nude, very
_handsome_, form up close and personal. Nothing more had taken place
but the bronzerider had been kind enough to try and help Chaysea not
feel so completely out of sorts around people of the opposite sex.
"Oh?" he asked, wondering about the ping he felt when he heard that. "I
hear he's very nice." A pity he rode bronze.
He carefully stripped off his riding gear, revealing long shorts for
swimming, and then he removed the swim shirt. He was a little softer than
most male riders, having somewhat lighter duties.
Chaysea nodded, keeping herself busy by pulling her own tunic over her
head, "Yes, he is very kind. He was very understanding of my
background from the Hall." That made her think of the late brownrider
Z'an, who had treated her with nothing but kindness. She thought about
their dinner together out on the beach and a pang of sadness hit her.
It was such a shame that he had perished. She knew now that she was a
Headwoman, however, that she would have to deal more and more with the
loss of dragonriders. It made her glad that L'pin was part of the
Weyrlingstaff and not in the thick of the Threadfall.
She stood and pushed her breeches down her hips. The one piece bathing
suit she wore, while covering her torso, did little but showcase and
highlight the swell of her breasts and the curve of her hips. Since
she had never had children, Chaysea still had a well trimmed body, not
that anyone really ever got to see it.
"It's good when the men respect that," he said. "Not everyone does, and
it's a shame."
He wanted to look, but like a gentlemen, he fixed his eyes firmly on her
face. "I think the water will feel perfect."
"I hope so, it is nice and toasty today." Chaysea said as she turned
and led the way down to the water, her head bowed a little as she
watched the waves come rippling in to the shore. She didn't think that
she would ever get over the beauty of the ocean.
He watched her rear for a moment before they got there. **She's so pretty.**
}:Nice day for a chase,:{ Chaneth said lazily, before diving into the
water before them, sending bigger waves to come lap the shore.
Chaysea waded out into the water, feeling a little less self-conscious
once she was waist deep in the mild water, "It is perfect today." She
commented before gently treading out a little deeper into the water as
L'pin had taught her. She liked that she could enjoy L'pin's company
and not be worried about what others would think, or without needing
some bothersome chaperone tailing behind them.
"It's lovely," he agreed, wiggling his toes in the sand. "Notice how this
is grittier than the sand by the weyr? There are outcroppings of it a
little farther down with great tide pools, but we didn't go that far
because that interferes with swimming."
The Headwoman raised an eyebrow, "What are tidepools?" She swam closer
to the bluerider.
"Oh, I'll have to show you later," he said happily. "They're pools in
rocks where waters get in, but then can't get out at low tide. Small
things can live in them."
"I would like that." It sounded interesting to Chaysea. She couldn't
imagine what sort of things lived in these tidepools but she was
interested to see. She moved a little closer to L'pin. It took her a
moment to gather the courage to look up into his grey eyes, "L'pin,
are you ever going to kiss me? Or am I going to have to kiss you?"
He'd been hoping he didn't misread her signals, but this was a very clear
one. "I didn't want to presume," he said after a moment, then lifted her
chin with one hand, and then brushed his lips across hers.
It had been so long since she had been kissed by anyone. She thought
the last time might have been her wedding day nearly seven Turns ago.
Before that there had been a few innocent kisses when she was a
teenager with a couple of the little teenage boys around the Hold. She
slid her hand up L'pin's bicep, an unconscious effort to keep them
close together as the tide tugged gently at them.
Her hand on his skin was inflaming, and he found parts of him waking to
life. There had been the flight, but beyond that, nothing. She was soft
against him, and his other hand drifted down to rest against her lower
spine. "You're stunning." he said when it broke.
Chaysea took the compliment with a smile and a duck of her head, "I am
inexperienced is what I am."
"I won't pressure you into anything," he assured her quickly, letting his
fingers dance along her spine. "But I do wish to court you, if you're
amenable."
She turned her eyes back up to his, "I am, L'pin, but I am also
thirty-two Turns old and by no means do I want to take things really
slow. So if you want to pressure a little," the corner's of her mouth
twitched, "I think I would be allright with that."
"Well then, I think I could arrange that." He gave her another deeper
kiss, but then a wave caused him to nearly lose his balance and then he
chuckled. "Though perhaps we should do some of this outside the sea.
Chaysea laughed as well and agreed, although she was loathe to break
contact with him, "Come on then." She said, leading the way through
the water toward the beach, water splashing around her knees as she
waded out onto the sand and toward their towels.
Below the waves, Chaneth whuffed in amusement.
He admired her as he walked back to shore, then headed for the towels and
sat down. "Come here," he said gently, running his fingers along the back
of her hand in lazy circles. "I'm glad we have this place all to
ourselves."
"Me too." She said as she sat close to L'pin. R'enh and Z'an had both
cautioned her to be careful around the male dragonriders in the Weyr
who would see a virgin holder as nothing more than a conquest. Chaysea
felt as if she had done just that.
"Do you want a backrub?" he offered. He wanted to reassure her with
contact that wasn't necessarily sexual. "Or I could tutor you in kissing,"
he teased.
Chaysea tapped her bottom lip as if she needed to think on that, "Hm,
I think I'll go with the tutoring option. I was always a good
student."
"Well then, let me show you another lesson." He stroked her face with his
hand, and then leaned in to kiss her again. He felt so honored that the
headwoman had chosen him, of all people, to feel so comfortable with.
Warm tingles raced across Chaysea at the gentle touch from L'pin and
she found herself leaning in to his touch, returning his kiss. Shards,
she had waited thirty-two Turns for this and it was better than she
had imagined. She understood now why kissing and sex and men were all
the lower caverns women wanted to talk about.
She was learning quickly, responding with as much ardor as he felt. This
wasn't as sharp and demanding as flight lust, but a simple, clean pleasure
that he hadn't felt in Turns. Not since before Dolphin Cove. If she'd been
weyrbred, he would have rolled them both lying down on the blanket...but
while she'd said she was comfortable with being pushed, he didn't want to
go the whole way with her. Not today.
So he contented himself with kissing her mouth and admiring her features,
his hands gently stroking down her back.
It felt wonderful, the ocean air, the sun, and L'pin's kisses. A part
of Chaysea wished she had come to the Weyr sooner, perhaps her life
would have been very different. But then, she wouldn't have had this
gentle bluerider showing her the way, and she very much wanted to
continue exploring all that L'pin was awakening deep within her.
