J'darin nodded. He had suspected as much
"You're going to have to change that, Ninaine. It will be much better
if she chooses to start obeying now, instead of when she is forced to
by her size. Not to mention, she will grow more dangerous as she
grows bigger. " He paused. Was it too soon? He wanted to start
right away. It was clearly growing very necessary.
He steepled his fingers. "Ninaine.... Are you ready to try now? "
He waited for the inevitable backlash from the green and her rider.
"The sooner the better. A small, step. We'll go back to the
barracks first and then try going outside. "
No, she wasn't ready. She didn't want to, perhaps just as much as
Luneth didn't want to. As much as she knew it needed to be done, she
simply didn't want to start. It meant leaving herself alone. She
looked at Luneth, who still looked plaintively up at her and then at
J'darin. "I..." She bit her lower lip, closed her eyes and took a deep
breath. Stiffening her back she rose. "Yes."
}: No! I don't want to! :{
Luneth hunkered down, flexing her talons as if she was going to dig
them into the floor to avoid moving.
"You must both come, or I will let Hasaarth 'convince' her. I don't
want to do that, Ninaine. _You_ must make her obey. No matter the
color, your will must triumph when necessary. I will go ahead. You
two follow within 5 minutes."
His words made it clear he was not taking no, or maybe, for an answer.
}: I'm not moving from this spot. :{ Luneth declared stubbornly.
Ninaine sighed softly, then turned on her heel to walk out the door.
As soon as she moved, Luneth whimpered. Ninaine paused to close her
eyes only for a moment as she steeled her will and walked out the
office door. Luneth gave an inelegant squawk of protest and hurried
after Ninaine, visibly sulking that her lifemate hadn't complied with
staying in the office with her.
They emerged into the barracks, Luneth's tail flicking rapidly in
anxiousness. The little green knew full well what was coming, and she
didn't want any part of it. Her rapidly whirling eyes fell on J'darin
with resentment.
Ninaine brought herself to J'darin, her face tight. "She's going to be
difficult."
J'darin almost laughed aloud at Ninaine's statement. He did finally
give in and chuckle dryly. "You're just now figuring that out
youngling? " He shook his head and offered her a faint smile.
"Remember what I said about boots? Tomorrowyou should look into some..
Its pretty cold today." He waited a beat and then headed outside.
"Your next task is to follow me outside, and she stays in here." No
option for refusal, though he knew this was going to be so hard on
them both.
Boots. The last thing she'd been thinking about lately was boots. She
was far too used to the pleasant weather at Amber Hills, she supposed.
But enough of that, she had to handle Luneth.
}: Not gonna. :{ Luneth interjected as Ninaine turned to her. }: No. I
won't stay in here. I go with you. No no no. :{
Ninaine already felt the growing anxiety from the green. **Luneth, you
know we have to do this. Stay here. I mean it. ** She took a deep
breath and turned on her heel to walk towards the barracks exit. There
was a scrabble of talons on the stone and she looked over her shoulder
to see Luneth stubbornly following her. **Stop it. You have to stay in
the barracks!**
Luneth dove at Ninaine's legs, trying to wrap herself around them.
Ninaine stumbled but caught herself. }: Don't leave me, Mine! I'll be
alone! I'll be scared! Don't go away! :{ Luneth gave a mental wail and
Ninaine closed her eyes against the fear in Luneth's voice.
**I have to.** Ninaine stepped over Luneth's arms, only to hear a
vocal wail as she took a step away from the crouched Luneth.
