Description: Rademerth meets one of the new greens and it doesn't go so well.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 7, day 4 of Turn 7
}:There are many little ones now.:{
J'kri rolled his eyes. **Yes, that's what happens after a Hatching.**
Although they'd already grown over the last few weeks. But compared to
Rademerth, yes, they were quite little.
}:That one is alone. She was alone before.:{ Rademerth headed toward a
green. She wasn't alone, she was with her rider, but she was far away
from the other weyrlings. J'kri, carrying his washing supplies,
followed the blue. }:Why are you way over here, little one?:{
Luneth crooned softly as Ninaine rubbed oil into her hide. It was a
enjoyable pleasure and time usually spent in quiet reflection. The
unfamiliar mindvoice startled her out of her reverie and her eyes
popped open. }: Who is that?:{ She looked up and eyed the approaching
blue. }: Who are you? What do you want? :{ She glanced at her rider
and then puffed up her chest as big as she could. }: Stay back!:{
}:I am Rademerth. I want to know why you are far from the others.:{
"Sorry if he's scaring her. He's just curious." J'kri was rather
curious, too. It had started with Lissath, and now Rademerth seemed to
be interested in all the hatchlings. He'd barely noticed his own
clutchmates. "I'm J'kri, from the previous clutch."
}:I don't like them. :{ Luneth replied peevishly. She wasn't sure
about this dragon either, but at least he wasn't getting too close.
Ninaine looked up and slowly rose, keeping a good distance, but not
about to be rude to this older weyrling. She dipped a quick curtsey.
"He's not. She's protective." She laid a hand on Luneth's neck,
soothing her as Luneth turned her wary gaze to the other weyrling.
"I'm Ninaine. Did you need this area for your blue?"
"Oh, no. You'd don't have to leave." He set his supplies down. "Nice
to meet you, Ninaine." He made a little bow. With that curtsey, he
figured she was from a Hold or Hall. "Why is she so protective? Are
you nervous?"
}:You don't like your clutchmates?:{ Rademerth lowered his head to get
a better look at her.
Luneth skittered backwards, pressing close against Ninaine's legs and
gave a soft hiss of displeasure when the blue lowered his head. She
didn't know whether or not to look at the rider or the blue, but this
Rademerth was bigger so her eyes remained on him. }: No. Go away. :{
**Luneth!** The scolding following the hiss was quick. **Please don't
get us into more trouble.**
}: He's too close! :{ Luneth pressed against her legs even more firmly
and Ninaine had to shift her weight to avoid being pushed over. As
Luneth grew, it was getting harder to hold the green up when she
wanted comfort.
Ninaine cleared her throat and glanced at Rademerth and then at J'kri.
"She always has been. Forgive me, but would you mind asking your blue
to back up a little?"
"Sorry."
Rademerth obeyed his rider's command, but as he backed up he gave a
rumble of amusement. }:Do you think you could hurt me? I could snap
you in two.:{
J'kri gasped. "Rademerth!"
At first Luneth just stared up at the blue before she puffed up her
little chest and stomped her feet. }: And..and I could bite you! I
could bite you lots! I have sharp pointy teeth! :{ At that she snapped
her teeth together sharply.
Ninaine's jaw dropped. "Luneth!"
}:I would hardly notice. You are too small.:{ Luneth reminded him of a canine.
"You should apologize," J'kri said aloud for Ninaine's benefit. Just
when he thought Rademerth was outgrowing his attitude.
"And so should you, Luneth! That is certainly not proper behavior
and.." She gaped as Luneth leapt forward.
}: I'll show you, you mean ol' blue! My teeth are mighty! :{ She
lunged at Rademerth's forelimb and clamped her teeth around one
finger above the talons.
J'kri sucked in a breath, ready to use all his mental force to keep
him from hurting her. He ran toward the pair.
Rademerth grunted. }:That stings.:{ Had she been a canine, he would
have flung her, but she was a hatchling. So he didn't. Bringing his
other forelimb down, he sent up a wave of water that swamped the
little green.
Ninaine followed J'kri, picking up her skirts in her rush to get to
her little green. "Luneth! Let him go this instant! Shame on you!"
A series of high pitched growls turned to high pitched gurgles as
water splashed over her. Instead of releasing, Luneth tightened her
grip to hold on. }: My teeth are mighty! :{
"Luneth!"
}:Let go. I do not want to hurt you.:{ Rademerth's eyes whirled faster
with a flicker of red.
J'kri wanted to grab her, but worried she might attack him, and the
little green would do much more damage to him than than his dragon.
"Make her stop!"
**Luneth, let go of him _now_!** Ninaine, furious and embarrassed,
sent the command like a whiplash of will.
Luneth immediately let go, scrambling back and staring with defiance
at Rademerth, stomped her feet. }: You noticed _that_ now didn't you?
So much for me being small! :{
Ninaine reached her green and hauled her back, half dragging Luneth
away. "I'm so sorry!"
J'kri was stunned. He'd never heard of such a thing happening. Through
the bond he knew Rademerth was hurt, but only a little. The blue was
more annoyed than anything. When Luneth let go, Rademerth picked up
his forelimb to inspect the ichor welling along the bite mark.
}:Yes, I noticed. It is good for you that I would not hurt a hatchling.:{
"Oh, shards. I should take him to the dragonhealers." It didn't look
too bad, but better safe than sorry.
}: You big, fat... :{ The little green was cut off immediately by a
mental scolding the likes she hadn't heard from her lifemate and
immediately cringed. She hunkered down and hung her head.
**You apologize this instant!**
}: He started it! :{ Luneth sulkily protested.
**Apologize. _Now_.** Ninaine glared down at Luneth and with her hands
on her hips, and her face flushed with shame, tapped her foot.
Weaving her head defiantly, Luneth tried to look mournfully up at her
lifemate, but was quelled by the anger and shame she felt through
their bond. She turned her gaze to Rademerth. }:sorryIbityou.:{ It
came out in a mental mumble.
**Luneth...**
The green sighed and slunk towards Rademerth, tail dragging. }:I am
sorry I bit you. That was wrong and I shouldn't have done it. :{ There
was a glance at Ninaine and a quick whisper. }: Even if you are a big
meanie. :{
"Luneth!" That time the words were spoken and thought. Ninaine turned
back to J'kri, her face still flaming red. "I'm so sorry. I don't
know...I mean...I am very sorry."
}:If you bite me again, you will be _very_ sorry.:{ The blue's voice
was stern this time, eyes going more red.
J'kri felt the shift and needed to get Rademerth away before things
got worse. "Let's go get that looked at," he said out loud for
Nanaine's benefit. To her, he said, "You should probably talk to the
Weyrlingmaster about her. I've never seen a dragon that aggressive."
Her face flushed. J'darin had already talked to her about Luneth and
she wasn't getting better. She tugged Luneth away and nodded slowly.
