K'mai

K'mai

Deajul froze beside that weyrlake, coming out of the water was the most perfectly shaded blue he had ever seen. Trying to be casual he wandered toward his goal. **If only...* he thought to himself. "Hello, I'm Deajul." he greeted the blue, knowing there would be no answer.

The boy did get an answer, though not in words. Sebeth rumbled a greeting and turned whirling eyes on Deajul. "I'm sure you've heard this before but I think you are the most beautiful shade of blue." he offered.

}:Come over here and tell this one I like his flattering.:{

K'mai had been chatting with one of his many friends and excused himself to do as the blue commanded. "Ah, Deajul." He knew almost everyone at the Weyr, and the Candidate had grown up at River Bluff. "Sebeth says he likes your flattering."

"It can't be flattering if it's true. I adore blues and he is one of the best I've seen." Deajul grinned up at K'mai, "Would Sebeth like a scratching?"

"Of course he would." Sebeth was already leaning closer.

Laughing outright, Deajul obliged rubbing the blue's eyeridges with a decent amount of pressure.

Sebeth crooned softly, soaking up the attention.

"So, do you like blues because they come in such lovely shades? Or because you hope to have one of your own?"

"Both, I never get tired of how many choices blues have, they seem so lucky. I wouldn't mind a green of course, I'm sure she'd strike me as the most beautiful and sweetest green ever. I just know no bronze or brown would look twice at me. So blue would suit me best. Twice the fun, as I'm sure you know." He grinned.

"Oh absolutely," K'mai looked him over. Deajul wasn't a little boy anymore. He was growing up... quite well. "We could have a little fun together if you'd like. If you're lucky enough to find your blue at the Hatching, it'll be a while before you can have certain kinds of fun."

"Uh, well..." Deajul was floored, he was used to being the one coming onto others, this was a new experience and he liked it. "That could be lots of fun."

K'mai grinned and leaned against Sebeth's foreleg. "Do you have any experience?"

"Yes, mostly with other candidates though," he answered thinking fondly of B'jon.

"Ah, that's good. I'm a very good teacher if you want to learn some...advanced techniques."

Deajul considered the offer for a moment, if he impressed there would be the weyrling ban to consider, maybe he should learn what he could _now_ before he ran out of time. "I'd ask your weyr or mine, however, I don't have one I
can _entertain_ in."

K'mai laughed. "My weyr it is, then. Are you free now?" The Candidate had seemed surprised at his offer, but he didn't seem shy. Not unusual in a weyr-born boy, but you never could be sure.

"Until after dinner, I have chores then." Deajul couldn't help his grin, this was going to be very instructive.

"Come on, then." K'mai smiled and led the way inside. "And Sebeth says you can compliment him any time."
