Characters: D'lorn, Eioval
Description: Eioval drags D'lorn out for a night of partying.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 5, day 27 of Turn 7
Eioval was dressed to kill: hair in a runner's tail down his back,
deep-cut v-neck shirt and a pair of trousers flatteringly tight in all the
right places. He was looking forward to a night out with the guys. Or at
least, one guy, he didn't know if anyone else would join them yet.
"Lorney! Time to go!" he called out cheerfully as he rapped his knuckles on
the door.
"Just one moment," the greenrider replied before pulling on his other boot.
Grunting once with the effort, he stood up and looked at himself. **Not
bad** Smiling, he came around and opened the door. "So what's on the agenda
first?" Eioval had planned this night so he was going to follow his lead.
"Drinks and cards, of course," Eioval grinned happily. "I need to get some
alcohol in me before I head out on the dance floor with the ladies!"
"The ladies? Oh right." D'lorn didn't think about ladies but he neglected
to mention this fact. He was actually watching Eioval's rear as he walked
every so often. "Cards it is. Betting or not?"
"Oh, alright, gentlemen for you," Eioval corrected himself quickly. "And
sure, why not? As long as you know I'm only a poor ol' journeyman..."
"Poor ol journeyman. I'm a greenrider, so there you go." He chuckled before
finding a dragonpoker table and sitting down. "Harpers think quickly. So
prove your mettle."
"I will try, but alas, I'm a mere painter, no Harper of laws or history, or
any other matter of sharp wits," Eioval complained as he sat down at the
table as well, picking up the stock of cards and shuffling them deftly.
D'lorn wasn't a fool. He knew Eioval. He also knew the man could play
cards. The greenrider, however, didn't bet much so it didn't matter to him.
It was more of the game anyway. Smiling, he nodded. "Ah well sharp wits,
cut the deck and we'll see."
Eioval swiftly dealt the cards and peeked at his own, quite satisfied with
his hand.
D'lorn put two down and found himself watching Eioval's face to judge him.
Did he have a good hand? Waiting for his replacement cards, he didn't think
he would bet big this round. Not by a longshot.
Eioval put down one and dealt the replacement cards, his expression neutral
as he judged his hand.
D'lorn threw a piece into the pot and nodded. "I'll put down a 64th." The
greenrider was gambling for sure. Or was he?
"And I'll raise you another 64th," Eioval smiled, before opening three
cards on the table. He checked them with his hand cards carefully.

A few hands later and it was clear the harper was mostly all bluff. D'lorn
found himself doing allright, though not overly well. The greenrider pushed
his seat back from the table. "Allright harper, time to dance."
"Yeeha!" Eioval grinned and jumped from his seat. "Now, anyone here I
should sneakily push your way on the floor?"
"Hmmm maybe that fellow over there with the dark eyes..." D'lorn found
himself smiling as he walked onto the floor. The card game was forgotten as
the music took over.
