Asking for a Favor

Writers: Chelle, Jelena
Date Posted: 21st February 2014

Characters: D'lorn, Eioval
Description: Eioval comes to D'lorn to ask a favor of him.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 5, day 25 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: Lenala

"Lorney! Pal!" Eioval called out as he took up a jog to catch up with the
Weyrlingmaster Third. Anyone who knew the man, would expect him to be
asking a favor simply from hearing the tone of his voice. "Do you have a
moment for good old Eio?"

D'lorn's brow went up but being the good natured man he was, he nodded.
"Aye what's it to be today then?" The greenrider gave him a good-natured
smile.

"You sound like I ask you favors everyday!" Eioval tutted. "But yes, I was
wondering if I could make a little deal with you. You see, Vilarth's
clutching had me thinking, how wonderful the moment of Impression is and
how rare an occasion.." He trailed off for dramatic effect.

"Well not really that rare. We have 40 or so every Hatching." D'lorn
smiled, thinking. It was a special moment, sure, but not rare exactly.

"Oh, hush, you have no sense of romance," Eioval shook his head in
exasperation. "What I mean is, it's a special moment for the rider. People
always ask me to paint it for them. Or their first feeding, or their first
flight. You know, all the dragony firsts." He paused for a moment to catch
his breath, before he went right on. "Anyway, I was hoping you'd know if
there was anything I can do to be allowed a chance on the Sands during
Hatching. Capture the sweet moment for future reference, you know?"

"Because of safety reasons, usually the closest you can get is in the
bottom stands. You'd have to ask Lenala about it since it's her Hatching,
though." D'lorn didn't think it would be a pretty sight to have a hatchling
maul the resident artist. Not at all.

"Oh, the Weyrwoman Second, of course," Eioval nodded, his thoughts
gathering. Well that seemed like a plan. "Awesome, I'll do that. So anyway,
how have you been holding up, man?"

"Same ole same ole. Kids and younglings. Would be nice to be around folks
my own turns at times." Of course Villith took up most of the his time
besides duties. D'lorn was going to have to get her squared away before the
next harper night so he could dance. "You?"

"Life's good," Eioval replied contently. "My kid is turning out to be quite
the genius, business is going well, I got nothing to complain about." He
paused for a moment, thinking. "No chance I can drag you away from duty
sometimes and force you to relax?"

"Business is well? That's good." D'lorn considered all that he said and
found himself smiling. "Aye, I've got free time some days. I'd love for
someone to force me to do something good. Just have to get away from the
gorgeous green that takes up my other time." Chuckling, he sent a mental
nudge to Villith.

"Excellent, when is your next free evening? We'll have some drinks, play
some cards, let loose a little?"

"Ahh...let me see..." He ran through some thoughts in his mind. "Two days
from now should do it."

"Perfect, prepare yourself for some fun," Eioval grinned. "I'll let you get
back to work now and see you then!"
