"Is this your son?" Mayla asked Z'al approaching the rider who was playing with a small boy, "I had heard that he had come to the Weyr."
"Hello Mayla, yes he is. The young foster mother that has been taking care of my sisters took him in to. Sorry i never came to you. i was a little nervous. His name is Zamley."
"Hi Zamley," Mayla said, bending down so that she was at eye level with the child, "are you having fun playing with your daddy?"
"Daddy play." He said happily. He giggled as Z'al tossed a small ball up and Dis swooped in to catch it before it landed.
"He seems to be adjusting well," Mayla commented rising back up to full height, "is he happy with his new fostermother?"
"He seems to be. he doesn't cry as much as he did in the begining. He has begun to play with the other kids around him." Z'al smiled at the boy.
He knew only to well how frieghten the boy had been.
"That's good," Mayla smiled, the father was lucky that he didn't have to worry about his son being unhappy, "who's his fostermother again?"
"Endalla, the young woman who took in my two wayward sisters. She has been very good to him." He smiled as the boy toddled off a bit to play with the brown flit and to waunder closer to Nyinth who lounged in the sun.
"Ah yes," Mayla said in recognition, "and he seems to have really taken to Nyinth."
"Yes, he seems to never get enough of being around him. Nyinth loves him just as much." He chuckled as Nyinth puffed out at the small boy, causing the child to giggle.
"He'll undoubtedly want to be a dragonrider when he grows up then,"
Mayla said, "although don't most weyrbrats?"
"I hope so. I think he will make a great dragonrider some day." He smiled as he looked up at her. "I hear you've been really busy lately."
Mayla laughed slightly, "Yes it has been slightly crazy. Between the new riders, the harpers and the candidates, there's hardly time to get my regular tasks done. Things are slowing down now?"
"I can understand. Finally being back in my wing, having my son here, and spending time with my sisters has kept me quite busy. I can only imagine how busy you've been." He smiled over at her.
Mayla did not respond at first, opting to watch the young boy playing with the huge dragon for a moment. Finally she sighed, "well I guess that I must be off Z'al. Hopefully next time I will have a chance to play with you and your son."
"That would be great." He smiled as she left.
