Clouds floated across the sky as the gravid gold made her slow way to the
hatching sands. }:It is time,:{ she told Teseada, and Haloth. }:I will
clutch today.:{

N'call chuckled as Haloth fairly hopped from foot to foot in his
desire to dive into the hatching cavern. **Go, go,** he shooed the big
bronze off his ledge. **Tell them I'll be there in a few minutes.**

He trotted down the steps and through the corridor to the kitchens to
tell the staff that Onnyth was clutching. "Please make sure you keep
the klah and nibbles coming as long as she's down there. I'm sure
Teseada hasn't had much in the way of food today." With that he
grabbed a fresh pitcher and a pair of mugs along with a few pieces of
fruit.

"Hey there," he said from the doorway. "May I come in?"

"Of course," she said. "And definitely if you're bringing snacks, we could
be here a while."

Onnyth seemed to be sweeping the sand smooth before preparing a neat egg
sized hollow into which the first egg appeared, with some effort.

He entered with his hands full and his eyes on the bulk of the gold
queen laboring to bring forth her treasure. He and Haloth had been
watching her carefully. Haloth especially had been quite attentive
trying to bring her the tastiest treats whenever she told him she was
hungry.

N'call bowed in Onnyth's direction before sliding onto the bench next
to Teseada. "I brought some fresh Klah and fruit. I told the kitchen
to keep an eye on us just in case we need anything else. How are you
doing," he reached out a hand and rubbed it across her back in a
gesture of affection.

"Pretty good, the time grounded is giving me some time on my project. You
never know, I might eventually get to walk those tables." Her journeyman
project was quite close to her heart, and most people knew that.

"You'll do it," he smiled. She was nothing if not driven. "it takes us
a little longer here at the Weyr but if you want it bad enough, you'll
get there." He smiled but turned his attention to the queen. This was
a new experience for him and he couldn't help reflecting the
excitement of his lifemate. "How's she doing?"

"Look," Teseada pointed. A second egg was on the sand, rapidly followed by a
third. "I think she's doing just fine."

He looked where she pointed at eggs glistening on the sands. "They're
so beautiful." he said in reflection of Haloth's thoughts.

The bronze crooned encouragement to his mate and radiated pride while
his eyes whirled with happiness. }:Our eggs are very beautiful:{

}:They are,:{ the gold gave a mental grunt as another egg emerged. }:We will
do well together.:{

Haloth crooned his agreement and N'call smiled at Teseada. Then a
drudge peeked in with a tray in her hands. "I'll get it," he said and
brought the bounty back to the bench. "How many is that now?"

"Four, no Five," she said. "See that slightly smaller one behind there?" She
pointed to two eggs laid close to each other. "Probably a green in there."

He tucked a foot up under him on the bench and started in on a
meatroll. As time passed they kept up the small talk as more and more
eggs followed the first five. It became obvious Onnyth was delivering
a large clutch as she still seemed to have a lot to lay. "This is a
pretty big clutch!"

"She's more than made up for last time." a note of pride crept into her
voice. Her choice, Onnyths choice last time had been a disaster, but this
time it looked like she was going to more than make up for it.

"You have every right to be proud," he smiled and hugged her shoulders
kissing her temple. Then he picked up a buttered roll but it stopped
half way to his mouth. "Teseada? Tes!" He pointed with the roll unable
to believe his eyes.

"Onnyth, you're wonderful!" Teseada, got to her feet, and took a step
closer, watching the gold closer. "You're beautiful, and your daughter will
be too." The egg lay slightly away from the others, but there was no
mistaking the golden hue of the shell. "Oh N'call, make sure Haloth knows."

"Haha," N'call was off his feet and pumped his fist in the air but he
didn't need to tell Haloth for he already knew. The bronze had turned and
bellowed his pride and prowess to the whole Weyr.

}:I've sired a _Queen_:{

N'call chuckled and picked Teseada up in a bear hug swinging her around him
in a big circle. "What a clever clever girl," he laughed before he set her
on her feet and cupped her face for a jubilant kiss.

"You deserve that," she said, a grin on her face.

"And so do you," he said. "Especially after what you went through last
time."

"Last time will be forgotten."

He smiled at her affirmation and didn't want to let go of her but now
wasn't the time for further expressions of his feelings so he turned
back to the sands and Onnyth's happy eyes. He gave her a deep bow.
"You are indeed glorious, beautiful Onnyth." Then he turned back to
Tes. "Is she done?"

"She is now," Teseada said after confirming with the smug looking gold. "I
think that's forty in total, help me double check?"

He started on one side where Onnyth's tail curled protectively around
her eggs and counted in the opposite direction from her rider.
"Right," he said, "forty."

It was what she wanted to hear, "Well we better go tell the rest of the Weyr
the news then."

He chuckled and nodded. "I think Haloth already did. But we should
bring the news to the Weyrleaders."
