Date Posted: 13th August 2005

Characters: J'kyran
Description: J'kyran can't keep from neurosing about things--so Karynth cools him off.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 7, day 3 of Turn 3
Notes: (Hey, this is my first post after being away for about a year--or was it longer? I can never remember. Enjoy! )

J'kyran shivered and pulled his thick jacket more tightly around him, as a blast of wind sliced across the weyrlake, and seemingly, right through him. Of all the harebrained times for Karynth to want to take a _bath_. It was so cold that ice was on the lake, but noooo, she had to get clean. She found it _refreshing_.

**Are you done yet, oh wonderful dragon of mine? Or have you frozen in place?** he thought at his green, sending as much of an image of frozen cold Riders as he could.

}: I am not yet finished. My tail still isn't clean. :{

He sighed and slumped down on the cold, frozen dirt, sliding into his favorite refuge during times of boredom--his own imagination. He thought of warm things, like, say, hot baths, hot klah, warm clothes, perhaps even a warm body in his bedroll back in his weyr--he grimaced as he shut down that line of thought. It bothered him that even in the years he'd been at the Weyr, he hadn't really ever shared a bed with anyone, but...what business was that of anyone else's?

The feel of hot breath on his face yanked him back to reality--while he'd been daydreaming, Karynth had gotten out of the lake, and had stuck her nose right in his face. She fixed him with a baleful, slowly whirling eye. J'kyran got the distinct impression she was glaring at him.

}: Why do you always worry about these things? You should just do something about it. I'm sure you could find someone willing--:{ She gave a small snort. }: Even that obnoxious bluerider in the other wing has a mate, why not you?:{

J'kyran stood, returning the look as he rubbed his arms in an effort to warm himself. "And get caught up in all that complication? All the...dancing around each other, and the, the...niceties, and the things I know nothing about! And even if I did, they'd probably _leave_ and then things would be a mess--" He threw his hands up in the air, pacing back and forth as he ranted. "--never mind if my _father_ heard about it, then I'd never hear the end of it, about disgracing my family, and shaming the good name of all my ancest-what are you doing? Karynth?"

As he was ranting, the green had stalked over to the lake, and stuck her muzzle into the lake, picking up a rather large mouthful of water. J'kyran backed away quickly, eyes widening. "Hey, now, what are you doing with tha--AARGH!" he yelped, finding himself suddenly drenched in very cold water, mixed with a small quantity of dragon-spit.,

"What did you do that for?!" he yelled, trying to wring water out of his clothes before the next blast of wind hit. "Now I'm all WET!"

}: You were getting worked up. You needed to cool off, :{ she said, sounding very smug. }: Now, we should get inside, and dry you off. :{

J'kyran fixed his dragon with a baleful look. "I'll g-g-get you f-f-f-or that..." he said, his teeth beginning to chatter.

Karynth sighed. }: Men. You'd rather be cold than stop arguing. :{ Moving forwards, she used her rather large bulk to herd her rider towards the nearby Weyr entrance. }: Scoot, oh rider of mine. Warm baths await. :{ Her rider fixed the green with another look, then shook his head and headed hurriedly for the warm Weyr, muttering about crazy dragons all the way.
