T'nom

T'nom

T'nom woke with a creak in his neck. As he started to stretch he felt
the warm body of Taldeth beside him. His head ached as well, and he
couldn't recall why he was sleeping_here_. Then his memories came
back to him, assaulted him with what had transpired the day before.

He'd been a bit of a jerk, true, but Meledei hadn't been much better.
Calling him sexist just because he'd stated the_obvious_ way of the
world? He grumbled to himself. He hadn't_made_ the world and it's
ideals, yet she'd acted like he had.

He knew that deep down, there was more to his feelings that he'd let
on. He felt as though their relationship was under her control. He had
no say in what happened. It was her way or no way. He had never
realized how idealistic and, at times, controlling, she could be. He'd
agreed to her terms, yes. He'd dreamed of a life with her for some
time that he had_had_ to at least give things a try.

It wasn't that he wanted to sleep around. It wasn't that he needed her
to give in_this_ moment. It was the fact that_she'd_ dictated
control of what he could or couldn't do that irked him. Besides, he'd
been unhappy with some of what she'd said about Pierka simply needing
to grow up. True, Pierka was young, but T'nom knew_he_ had been the
one to place her in this situation.

Groaning he pushed away from Taldeth, who obliged by raising his wing
and turning his head to look at his rider.

}:You are still upset,{: Taldeth stated. }:If Elleth's rider has made
you unhappy, then you should speak to her.:{

T'nom heaved a sigh and moved to a cabinet where he kept a few things
that would ease his hangover. Taking a drink of one, he turned to
Taldeth. "I know, I should, but I honestly don't know what I want to
say to her. I think, it's more that I don't know what I want for
myself." He sighed and finished the drink, already starting to feel
the ease of his headache a bit.

"Contact Elleth for me and see if she'll talk."

}:Mine wishes to know if yours is willing to talk to him?:{ Taldeth
reached out to the gold.

For Meledei, her thoughts had been similar, but it was T'nom who had
been wrong. She knew she'd let her anger get the better of her and it
had ended in an explosion. Now things were off between her and T'nom
and she didn't like it at all.

**Maybe we're just not meant to be.**

That thought made her sad. She liked T'nom, a lot. She could see a
future with him. But what was the point if he wasn't willing to be
exclusive? She didn't want to share and she had thought that someone
who had grown up in a Hold would understand. But neither he nor F'gol
seemed to really get it. Was it just a guy thing?

**Except that there was one guy who waited for you and you blew it with
him.**

Z'ku came back to her mind and she shook her head. He was right and
she was wrong. She'd written him a letter - a very short one - but
hadn't received any response. Really, did she expect one? Not so
soon. Maybe not ever.

But that didn't mean she didn't want to give T'nom another chance, or
give_them_ a chance. The question was, did he?

}:Taldeth's wishes to talk with you.{ Meledei's gaze lifted from the
floor and went distant.

**Tell him I'm willing to talk if he wishes. Ask him where he wants
to meet.** What would he say? That it was over? She wasn't worth
waiting for? And that's really what it all boiled down to - she
wasn't worth it. One guy had thought she was, and she'd shunned him.
Now a guy wanted to be with her, but he didn't want to wait - and it
seemed like he didn't mind sharing either. But that just wasn't her.

Where to meet? T'nom pondered that. **Tell her I will come to her
shortly if that's okay,** He had Taldeth communication the message to
Elleth. He preferred that she_not_ see the mess he'd made of his own
weyr until he could get it cleaned up.

Gathering himself, changing into clean clothes and trying to steady
the rush of thoughts and emotions that raced through him, T'nom soon
found himself at her door. Knocking, he waited for her to let him in.

Meledei opened the door, then stepped to the side. Her hand flicked
toward the sitting area and she closed the door behind him once he was
inside. She wasn't sure what to say. Any words that might have been
spoken flew out the window at his knock. She slunk over to the couch
and sat down, then motioned again, that time specifically to a chair.
"Feel free to sit."

He entered, stood there for a moment waiting for her to speak. She
didn't. Neither did he. Where to start? What to say? He took a seat as
she indicated. Silence seemed to settle around them. Should he start?
He owed her an apology at least for losing his temper, but he truly
didn't feel sorry about everything that had transpired between them.

"I'm sorry I lost my temper with you Meledei," he finally stated,
needing to get that off his chest. He didn't_want_ to hurt her, but
her response to him had riled him, allowed him to see more who she was
and learn more about who he, himself, was also. He didn't know how
this conversation would end between them, but he knew it needed to
happen one way or the other. He would take the bad with the good, but
they needed to clear the air.

"I'm sorry I lost mine." There was that, but Meledei knew that wasn't
the only thing between them. They were going to have to come to an
understanding if they were going to make things work and she was
worried they might not. She was also hurt. He didn't seem to
comprehend how his words had hurt her. She drew her legs to her and
wrapped her arms around her knees. She wasn't sure where to go from
there. "Do you...want to go first?"
