I Need Something, Too

Writers: Eimi, Shelly
Date Posted: 19th January 2006

Characters: Gaiya, L'cian
Description: Gaiya comes to L'cian in need of a certain something without attachments.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 9, day 19 of Turn 3

Gaiya paced back and forth in front of the bronzerider's weyr. This was silly. What in Faranth's name was she doing there? No good could come of it! And yet, ever since Ar'lis came to her in the heat of flight lust, she couldn't get L'cian off her mind.

**But you love Ar'lis. You do...** she told herself as she walked back and forth, debating the intellegence of her actions. **But we never promised to be exclusive...** Frustrated fingers ran through her hair. Ar'lis had been so moody, so consumed with that one botched flight. She tried to be there for him, but he could be so _confusing_, and their relationship had lost all its fun. All she wanted was to feel good without all the negative emotions attached to it. She wanted to be with a man just to _enjoy_ the feeling of being with man, not because she was part of some sharding healing process! If L'cian couldn't handle that, he could just ask her to leave, and she'd understand that...

Finally she took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

L'cian took a while to answer the door; having only just gotten out of the bathing pool, he thought it probably be best to answer the door in something more than a towel around his waist. So, after pulling on pants and throwing his towel aside he opened the door.

"Gaiya." Something inside him fell away and he looked away from her.

"Shards, L'cian, I'm sorry. I know I really shouldn't be here..." Her eyes dropped to the floor, but not until after they had taken in every inch of his body. She just wanted to touch him, to feel his body wrapped around her... to feel _normal_ again.

"What, um..." He ran a hand through his still wet hair. "What are you doing here?" This, clearly, was going to result in a break of their 'just friends' establishment.

"I want something from you... But I don't want to hurt you again... I don't want to hurt _anyone_, but..." Gaiya looked up into his eyes, pleading for him to understand and not send her away, although she knew he had every reason to do so. He had a heart to protect same as she did. But this wasn't about heart. "I thought I needed something _fun_
again. But if it hurts people, then how can it be fun?" Shards...
"I'm sorry, I should just go."

"Wait." He grabbed her wrist lightly as she turned to go. He knew that by taking her to his bed, he'd only end up hurting himself again, but it would be as much about release as pain. "Come in."

She turned to look at him and gently brought her fingers to slide around his neck. "L'cian, you know this could never be... public. I don't want to hurt Ar'lis. I care about him too much, and he needs me. I just... I need something too."

L'cian remained silent. He was quite confident that this would be possibly the worst decision in a long line of poor choices that he and Gaiya had made, the most bittersweet, but he couldn't stop himself either. Every inch of her that touched him burned. He leaned down and kissed her.

Gaiya melted against him, her fingers creeping into his wet hair while her other hand slid along his strong bare arm. His body still rediated with the heat of the bathwater, and he felt so deliciously warm beneath her fingers. Kissing L'cian felt both familiar and novel, safe and yet dangerous, but above all, it just felt sharding good. Finally she pulled back and whispered, "Lets go inside."

The bronzerider let her slide in beside him and followed her to his bed.
All too soon they were back into their old pattern and everything was familiar, the scent of Gaiya's hair, her petite body against his, the sounds she made as he kissed her neck and shoulder and all the other place he'd learned she liked.

As they both fought to catch their breaths side by side, Gaiya basked in the feeling of being _wanted_. Though she truly cared for Ar'lis, since the Flight she had felt needed, almost obligated. It was no longer a pleasure shared between two people used as an expression of love, or even desire. It was as if he were the patient and she was the cure.
She closed her eyes, snuggled into L'cian's side, and finally felt like a woman again.

L'cian sighed and closed his eyes, too. Maybe she'd leave before he woke up again and he could pretend it had all been a dream.
