Danrina

Danrina wanted to speak with the Headwoman about a rather pressing
matter. She wasn't sure how her request would be received. She hoped
it would go well, but at the same time, she hardly knew the woman.

Moving towards where the Headwoman kept her office, Danrina, back
ramrod straight, raised a hand and knocked.

"You may enter." Yriadha's voice was utterly calm and cool. At her
desk, she had neatly separated parchments and hides that needed to be
evaluated and those that were ready for the Head Steward and the Lord
Holder to approve. She sipped her klah and looked up, her
dispassionate gaze expectant.

"Good day," Danrina greeted the Headwoman. She had already had many
discussions with her in the past. "I have an important matter I'd like
to discuss with you, if you have time."

Thin lips didn't lift in greeting, nor did they turn down. Yriadha
simply looked at the woman and gestured to the seat across from her
desk. "I have time. What is your concern?"

In the past she'd never really had to deal with these things. The
people at her parents' Hold had done exactly as she asked. Now,
though, she wasn't sure how the Headwoman would react.

"I was wondering if I could transfer my quarters to another part of
the Hold?" She knew it had to be an odd request, but Danrina had not
felt safe in her current quarters since the visit from Canovan.

At that, one slim dark brow rose in askance. "And why would you want
that, Danrina? You have pleasant quarters and I could not guarantee
that new quarters would be to your liking or to your station. We are
growing as a hold; you know that."

She was nervous. How did one go about asking and explaining this?
Taking a breath, she just decided to get it over with.

"I had a rather unpleasant encounter with someone visiting my
quarters, and I'm afraid he may return again since he knows where they
are." There, she'd said it. In her mind she felt getting new quarters
would be the easiest way to solve the issue and keep Canovan away.
Yet, would he still be able to find her easily enough even _if_ she
moved rooms?

Yriadha spoke her thoughts much like she knew them. "Moving your quarters
may not be the answer to your problem. It isn't difficult to find out where
someone lives." She paused and leaned back. "Who is this man and why is he
troubling you?"

She didn't want the headwoman to think she had _done_ something, but
she knew people might make assumptions.

Sighing, she looked her in the eye and said. "His name is Canovan. I
met him on the grounds one day and he seemed very nice. He offered to
take me for a ride." She paused. "Then he showed up at my door. I
thought we'd go riding, instead he pushed his way inside and..." this
time she had to stop and swallow before continuing. "He tried to get
me to _do_ things with him. I _did_ get him to leave, but he
threatened that if I told anyone he would tell them I _had_ done
things with him." She shook her head back and forth. "I can assure you
I _didn't_." Now she waited for the headwoman's response.

Dark eyes narrowed as Danrina continued and her fingers drummed on the
desk as her lips thinned. "Canovan?" There was a long slow breath.
"Did you report the incident to the guards?"

For the first time Danrina felt uncomfortable and had to break the
Headwoman's gaze. "No. He made it seem that everyone would believe I
had given in since he _was_ in my quarters and we had been seen
talking a few days earlier." She was starting to wring her hands in
her lap. In the past, had someone done anything like this, she would
have went to her father and he would have dealt with it. Danrina had
never had to figure out what to do in a situation like this before.

"There will be no young ladies accosted in this Hold, especially one I
am responsible for." Her voice was sharp. "And I'll not allow that
creature to run you away from your dwelling. I want you to speak to a
guard about the matter."

"Alright," Danrina replied. She still wondered what would happen if
Canovan followed through on his threat, but truthfully she didn't
care. She'd _never_ had to live in fear the way she had since her
encounter with Canovan. Hopefully, talking with the guard and getting
the situation resolved would take away some of that fear.

"Apparently, I need to be more cautious, but I am here on my own. So
how will I go about meeting a man to marry if I can't spend time with
him alone? Yet, I now find the idea of being alone with a man I hardly
know _very_ unnerving." Danrina looked to the Headwoman hoping she
would offer some advice.

"You should not be alone with a man, Danrina, not if you want your
reputation intact." Yriadha's reply was brisk. "You'll need a
chaperone and you will have one." Her fingers tapped along her chin.
"An older woman would be ideal."

She wanted to wrinkle her nose at the very thought of having to spend
time with some old hag, but she kept her face calm and collected. She
would _not_ offend Yriadha after she'd just asked for her help. And
while the thought wasn't appealing, Danrina didn't want to encounter
someone alone again and end up in another tricky situation.

"And as for Canovan..." The cool eyes narrowed. "Don't worry about
him. This matter will be handled."

That brought a smile to Danrina's face. "Thank you Headwoman. I do
appreciate your help. And, I wouldn't mind a chaperone after what
happened before. Please let me know when you find a suitable one."
While Danrina didn't _like_ the idea, she knew it was best that
someone be around in case she had a difficult encounter again.
**Besides if it's an older woman, I can always ditch her if I need
to,** she thought to herself.

"You're most welcome. I will find you within the sevenday with your chaperone."
