There was whoosh of air being replaced and a dragon appeared to the sky.
She was heavily loaded with cargo net hanging under her belly. Uetia
leaned outwards to look at the seahold. So this was where Sabonus and the
ships crew were stranded at. She had grown quite worried when time passed
and no word came from Sabonus. Then Tamah called her in and told his ship
had been in a storm and taken damage. They had managed to limp into a small
seahold, which lacked the resources to repair the ship. She volunteered to
take the supplies for the ship. Thank Faranth Sirjath was strong and
sturdy!
And thank Tamah to send his flits to search for the missing ship!
Sabonus stood next to the hull of the ship, which had been hoisted onto dry
land and was now surrounded by a great scaffolding that had taken quite
some time to erect. He was directing sailors with buckets of tar and
brushes when the call came up, "Sabonus! Supplies at last!"
The shipcarpenter turned around and saw the greenrider landing with what
looked like the supplies they had needed, and after a few hurried
instructions, he ran up the path to meet them.
Landing was bit tricky because of the cargo and narrow beach, so Sirjath
ended up tail-section in the water. She jumped out and saw a man running to
her.
"Welcome greenrider!" Sabonus called, relieved that help had come at last.
But once she was on the ground, he immediately recognized her. "Uetia?"
"Sabonus!" Uetia didn't care what the holders or the seacrafters thought
and ran to embrace him. "I've missed you!"
"Thank the Egg it's you!" he said, holding her tight for a few moments
before leaning back to give her a sound kiss, which told her exactly how
much he had missed her, as well.
She was practically wrapping herself around him.
When they finally came up panting for air, Sabonus made no move to let her
go. "Tamah thought he'd send you on this special mission, eh?"
"Well, I didn't actually give him any choise," Uetia grinned.
"Come to rescue your man, eh?" he chuckled, leaning in to kiss her once
more. "Shards, it's so good to see you."
"Of course I did," she smiled. Then her eyes glazed. "Sirjath is starting
to complain. We should get her unloaded. I bet you've been waiting for
those things."
"For such a long time," he said as he released her body, but held her hand
as he walked her back to her dragon. "How long can you stay?"
"About two candlemarks, then I have to get back for drills," Uetia replied.
They started to remove the cargo and few other seacrafters joined to help
them.
Sabonus began giving orders, organizing the supplies into rations and
building materials. The former was the business of others on the ship to
delegate, but as the ship carpenter, he had to make sure his supplies made
it to the dock in an organized fashion. After sending off one group laden
down with boxes and boards, he pulled Uetia back around to the other side
of the green to sneak another quick kiss.
"I wish I could sneak off with you for a while, but all the men would know.
And they've all got girls waiting for them, too." It wouldn't be fair
that he was getting some loving from his woman while all the other men were
longing for theirs. He hoped she would understand.
"I know, it's so unfair," she leaned against him. She was born into a
seacrafter family after all, so she understood perfectly. She wondered if
Sabonus would be so understanding if he knew what she had been up to in his
absense. Guilt made her shoulder's twitch.
"It's enough just to see you." He cradled her face in his hands, leaning
his forehead against hers. "I've missed you every day."
"I missed you too. It was like part of my heart was missing," she replied.
It made him smile, feeling warmth radiating out from his heart at her
words. "Shards, Uetia, but I love you so much."
"I love you too," Uetia's voice was quiet and wavered bit. It could be
taken as depth of her emotion, although it was hesitation. If she really
loved him so much, why did she seek out Jayonne then? Oh, she was such a
mess.
Sabonus could hear voices coming back up the path towards him. They
wouldn't have much more time. "Wait for me a little longer. I swear,
Uetia, I am working as hard as I can to come home to you."
"I'll wait. And you better hurry back," she said.
"Seeing your beautiful face is all the motivation I need to get it done
soon," he assured her, pulling her close for one more embrace before he had
to get back to work.
"Fix that ship soon," Uetia admonished gently.
