Taking a chill bath was something Jenackt never really
enjoyed, but staying clean was far better than smelling his
own stink. Shivering from the water, he tugged on his pants
and moved back to his belongings near the little tree Mernsom
had directed him to. It wasn't far from the Hold proper, but
still out of sight enough for him to be comfortable.
Running a hand through his hair he plopped down to exhale.
He hoped that Mernsom would be able to do some good.
Last time he'd brought a loaf of bread and some thinly
sliced meat, but no word on any boats leaving.
Lihara wasn't really paying attention to how far she was straying from
the hold. She was too busy gather flowers, berries, and herbs as she
walked. Each item went into a basket that hung casually from her arm.
It wasn't until she was nearly on top of the stranger that she
realized that she was not alone.
"Oh I'm sorry," she smiled, her eyelashes fluttering over her bright green
eyes.
Jenackt let go of a loud curse as he stood quickly upwards, his hand
going instinctively to his side to the sword that wasn't there. He
winced. Careless. But before he could lunge for it, he really looked
at the young woman that had come while he was distracted. He went
still and glanced around, checking for anyone who might have been with
her. "It's okay...really..."
"I didn't mean to startle you," she chuckled, a light airy sound, "I
was just picking herbs. I didn't realize I'd come this far from the
Hold though." She confessed, her eyes assessing the boy. He was....
cute!
Jenackt was quiet, but he didn't miss her eyes sliding over him. His
skin prickled and he reached for his shirt, pulling it over his head.
"Most people don't come out here." He shifted. "What kind of herbs?"
"Mostly just whatever I come across. It's my way of getting out of
cleaning." She winked conspiratorially. Liara looked around at the
cozy little spot, "You seemed to have found a nice spot though. I
don't think I have ever been out here before."
At the wink, Jenackt finally offered a bit of a smile, teeth flashing
for just a moment. It made his eyes twinkle for a moment before he ran
a hand through his short cropped hair. At her looking around though,
he stiffened a bit. "Thanks." He glanced at her. "Not many people
have. It's quiet. I like it quiet." He looked at her pointedly. "I'm
not going to be here for long."
Lihara held up her hand, "Don't let me run you off." The redhead
looked back toward the way she'd come and brushed a strand of errant
hair out of her face. "I definitely came farther than I thought. I
don't even know..." She spun around, "Ah... I'm _horrible_ at
directions. Could you at least point me in the right way?" She
laughed.
At that Jenackt shook his head and finally gave a full fledged smile.
"You're from here and I know the way better than you?" He arched
a brow upwards in disbelief, but kept his eyes on her before tilting
his head to the side. "I could be pointing you towards the woods,
you know."
"I told you I am bad at directions! I get all turned around and then I
am lost for good." She gave Jenackt a measuring look, "And you don't
seem like the type that would point me in the wrong direction."
"Really?" Jenackt almost moved to stand closer to her, but paused.
Every time he'd gotten close to a hold woman, he'd been injured in
some way. His eyes checked if she had a knife, a club or even a rock.
She didn't seem to be armed, but he couldn't be sure. "How do you
know?" Jenackt couldn't help himself. The girl was just simply nice to
look at and he didn't get alot of opportunities to look. So he looked.
A bit more than necessary, but he looked. He flashed another smile.
Lihara pointed at his face, "It's all in the eyes, of course." Where
had this guy been? Surely she would have noticed this cutie around the
Hold before. "You know you could just walk me back."
Jenackt froze. He had to be very careful and not look overly
suspicious. His mind working quickly, he bent and whispered at the
girl. "I could, but you know, you could always just sit a while with
me instead."
Lihara knew that she was most likely going to be in trouble for
staying out so long but she couldn't resist, "I'd like that, but first
I should at least learn your name."
There was no debate in his head. He gave her same name he had given
the other girl. "Jenasom." He had several ideas going through his mind
and some of them not pleasant. He had to make sure she didn't give him
over to the Lord of Emerald Falls or his steward. He had options, but
he didn't like some of the more direct options. The body would be
found and he really didn't like the thought of more blood on his
hands. But the way she was fluttering her lashes at him, there might
be other ways. He offered her a light smile. "Just sit for a while.
Keep me company."
Lihara stuck out her hand to shake Jenasom's, "Well my name is Lihara!
It is nice to meet you! Sitting would be lovely. My legs are tired."
He nodded in what he hoped was taken as sympathy. He really had no
clue about how to deal with the young woman. **Just be nice and
convince her not to report you....** He sat and gestured to his side.
"Here you go."
Lihara smiled as she took a seat beside of Jenasom, fluffing her skirt
out over her legs. It really was a pretty spot that the boy had found,
Lihara knew she would like to visit it again but was certain she
wouldn't be able to find it again without help.
Now he was at a bit of a loss. Had the girl here, but didn't have any
idea what to do with her. He looked over at her and tilted his head;
unknowingly the action could have been termed as adorable, but he was
simply studying her, trying to figure out what to do next or what to
say. His eyes flicked over her in what may have been taken for intense
interest. He said the first thing that came to mind. "I'm surprised
that you're out here by yourself."
"Like I said, I hadn't planned on coming out this far. I am sure the
Headwoman would flay me alive if she knew, which is why I will not be
telling her." Lihara smiled, bumping her shoulder against his.
"You won't be telling anyone?" Jenackt followed quietly. He laid his
hand lightly on hers. "I can understand that, and I won't tell a soul
if you won't." He offered her a wider smile, relaxing just a little,
then carefully moving to tuck a strand of hair behind her ears. "I'm
in the middle of traveling, maybe you could help me out a little bit?"
Lihara batted her eyelashes, as she leaned against Jenasom, "Sure,
what can I help you with?"
Her warmth as she leaned made him pause. It felt...nice, and it was
something that was a bit of a new experience for him. He swallowed
roughly and his voice lowered further as the batting of her lashes
nearly disarmed him. *bloody women and their big eyes and lashes...*
He organized his thoughts once again to a semblance of clarity. "I've
been trying to get onto a boat, actually. I've kinda been stuck here."
The girl's lips instantly turned down into a pout, "You're leaving?
Will you be coming back soon?" It wasn't every day you met a good
looking guy like him.
*Not unless I'm blind, deaf and have no idea where I'm headed....*Jenackt
looked down at her mouth and then back up, then said the first thing that
came to mind. "Depends on if I have a reason to come back."
That made her smile again, "Okay, how can I help you then?" Lihara
wanted to know, tucking a strand of her redhead hair behind her ear.
"Well, the man who was helping me...I've not seen him. Can you find out
what happened to him for me?"
Lihara nodded, "Of course. What's his name?" She knew a lot of people
in the Hold, mostly because she heard a lot of the gossip that
filtered through the women.
"Mernsom." Jenackt looked at her to gauge her reaction to the name.
"He's been helping me get ready to get on the boat, but I'm afraid he's
changed his mind."
"So you want me to ask him if he's still helping you?" Lihara questioned.
His hand wandered to her hair again and stroked it."Maybe just find out
what happened to him?"
Even a touch as light as her hair being stroked made Lihara's body
flush with warm tingles, "Okay, I can do that. How will I get in
contact with you again?"
Jenackt's voice lowered." I'll meet you by that big oak tomorrow."
Taking a chance, he bent and brushed his lips over her cheek,
barely missing her mouth. "Can you do that?"
Lihara nodded, suddenly finding it hard to voice her voice, "Yes," she
breathed, "tomorrow by the oak."
Inwardly pleased that the gesture hadn't been a complete idiocy, Jenackt
felt a surge of male satisfaction. Instincts again had served him well.
Continuing, he kept his lips by her cheek, but still spoke softly. "I'll be
here waiting. "
