N'vanik

N'vanik

N'vanik dismounted and offered a hand to Rhosyn. It was nice to get
out of the Weyr and he was looking forward to a fun day at the Gather.
Curious onlookers were drawn to the sight of the huge bronze.

The small woman was used to getting up and down from large dragons
but this wasn't her large dragon and she was in a dress so she used his
hand and the straps to navigate herself down slowly. When she reached
the ground, she gave Loseth a pat on the side in thanks. Looking around
at the Hold and the Gather square, she thought about what to do first as
she left the Landing Square with N'vanik. "I smell bacon."

He laughed. "You're a woman after my own heart. Let's go find
the source." They headed off toward the food stalls.

**You have fun, too,** he told Loseth.

}:I'll try. There are other dragons here and the sun is warm.:{ Loseth
took off to join the other dragons. The Gather wasn't as large as a
major Hold's, but it was enough to draw a few dragonriders.

Putting her hand through his as they walked, Rhosyn was glad it seemed
to be a good weather day. His stride was much longer than hers so she had
to take two steps for every one of his, but exercise was well worth it. "So
how have things been anyway?" She carefully avoided the Hatching and what had
happened.

"Good. The new weyrlings look like a good group, and the Senior class
is just about to graduate." He took a breath, following the scent of
frying meat. "That way," he pointed.

Trusting him, she followed easily, nodding to the folk they
passed. "Well done. So more for your Wings. Are they up to strength yet?"
She knew he had had to rebuild but she couldn't remember how close he
was.

"Yes, finally. It's strange not constantly being shorthanded. It's
never _easy_, but it sure seems easier." He was lucky he'd managed
to make things better at Dolphin Cove instead of making them worse.

"And you? Less strain and worry for a change?" She had some picture in her
head of him sitting in his office and worrying himself to death. He was far
too young to have so many worries.

"Yeah." He found the stall and bought a large, greasy piece of bacon
for each of them. "How about you?"

She didn't answer until she had taken a bite and munched on the bacon for a
bit. "Mmm, you'll be interested to note I have officially been training Lenala.
She's improving. Not great yet, but maybe she'll get there with a lot of patience
or a miracle." Shrugging, she went back to the bacon.

He chuckled. "I hope you don't need a miracle." He licked grease from
his chin and took another bite. "Which reminds me we still need a
Weyrwoman's Second. Meledei's great, but she's too young."

"Well I don't have anyone to give you and neither does Dragonsfall. So
unfortunately, you're looking at waiting a few turns for Meledei to age or you'll
have to look at one of the other Weyrs. Have you made any inquiries?" She thought he
probably had, but it was worth asking to find out what they told him.

"The other Weyrs have given us two goldriders within a turn," he said
with a wry smile. "Someone with ambition will step up, I'm sure. It's
just a matter of time."

"Maybe you can do a trade with Jyramikah," she offered, trying to think
of a different subject. "So how is Cosani doing?" Rhosyn didn't know her
well but she was curious.

He snorted. "She seems to be doing fine. I talk to her once in awhile
so she knows I care, but she's still keeping her distance." It wasn't
a hostile distance, at least.

"Hmm....well at least she talks to you. You can't expect her to be very
close since things were what they were. Besides..Weyrlife is what it is
for a reason." That way if something happened to their parents, children
had someone to turn to. "U'das and his son are finally talking. So maybe
in a few decades," she offered with a smile.

That got a laugh out of him. "Maybe." He savored the last bite of
bacon. "Where to next?"

"Oh can we go to the tanner stall so you can try on too tight pants and
I can watch?" She sounded almost like a young girl there for a moment with
a teenage crush, but then her eyes went back to their usual twinkle. It was
clear she meant it though, typical of this woman.

A slow grin spread across his face. "Of course, my lady. Anything
for your pleasure."

Sitting there on a stool, Rhosyn had a glass of water in one hand and a bit
of herdbeast jerky in the other. She certainly didn't look like a dignified Weyrwoman.
She didn't seem to care either as she waited. "Come out for Faranth's sake!"

"So impatient," he said before pulling aside the curtain and stepping
out. "These were hard to get into." The trousers were so tight they
were hard to move in, but he knew Rhosyn would appreciate how little
they left to imagination.

When he came out, she was quiet for awhile as she just looked at him. Then
she twirled her little finger around, asking him to turn for her. A slow
smile started before she hooted. "Come over here, I need a closer look."

He stepped over, so close he brushed against her legs. "Look all you
want," he said in a low voice. This might be even more fun than he thought.

Reaching up to feel just how tight the hide was against him and appreciating
the bulges patently visible, she could picture him without them. And it reminded
her that it had been quite some time. Her hands crossed over his rear then down
his muscular legs. He had so much leg thanks to his height. When they came back
up and brushed across his stomach, it was clear she was beginning to
think about something else. "Is there...anyone in that dressing room?"

His eyes widened for a moment. "Weyrwoman, how inappropriate." He
leaned down to murmur in her ear, "You'll have to help me out of these
trousers." Then he took her hand and headed back to the dressing room.
If he didn't get out of them soon, the trousers were going to become
_very_ uncomfortable.

She smiled and disappeared for a moment then came back into the stall with
him, shutting the curtain. "Allright, unzip for me." In her hand was a
canister of powder to make it easier to get them off and she was all too ready
to help him.

"You're so practical." He unfastened the trousers and wanted to sigh
at the relief in pressure. "I hope you're planning to put your hands
all over me." His eyes darkened as he looked down at her.

"Not just my hands..." And then she began to work. It was a bit of a chore to get
him free, but she was determined and there might have been a few giggles
along the way. Of course once she had him there, trouserless, Rhosyn began
to work to keep him there.
