Description: In which Harloth the grumpy meets his superior.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 6, day 16 of Turn 6
Curled around a nice large rock, Orlaith was watching the weyrlings with one
eye open and another one closed. The senior queen had carved herself a wide
berth, letting the bronzes know she didn?t wished to be bothered just then.
It was warm enough to where she didn?t need a partner anyhow. Stretching her
wingsails, she blocked out the sun for a few moments before folding them
back once more.
}:Do you mind, dreadfully?:{
It was politely phrased, but otherwise that was the only indication
Harloth realized who he was speaking to. }:You are rather much bigger,
you know.:{
One of her whirling eyes searched for the speaker. }:Mind what?:{ Finally,
she discovered the source was a blue. Why was a blue bothering her just now?
}:Not blocking the sun so terribly :{ He dipped his head semi respectably.
}:It's not like you aren't pretty to look at too...but the sun's much
better at warm than you :{
}:And why don't you just move?:{ she countered, keeping her mental voice
in check. Orlaith wasn't a very snippy dragon usually, but she could get
into a mood from time to time. The question was said in a mothering tone.
}: Well...I was here first? :{ Greater thought made Harloth bolder.
}: And, well, we've been sharing nicely. It was only the stretch that did
it, you know. :{
}:So are you telling me I cannot stretch because you will not move?:{ And
now he was in dangerous territory. Hopefully the blue realized it.
}:No. I just asked you to take care when you did. :{
Harloth's tone was quiet and hurt, but he didn't want an argument. The blue
scrambled to his feet. }: But that's fine. I'll just go away because you're bigger
and that's how everything works. Good day, queen. Nap well :{
He even managed to make sure his first downdraft, as he launched himself,
didn't stir much dust. S'jen- who'd been lecturing him again recently- would be pleased. He was
just miffed, but there you had it.
}:You get back here Harloth:{ Orlaith ordered, puzzling over the blue's
reaction. She had not finished the conversation and no blue dismissed
her before she was finished. As his words went through her mind, she began
to think on it, forgetting the reason for the argument in the first place.
Harloth sighed, but wheeled obediently back to the ridge, settling a
*little* further away then he had been.
}: My Queen? Either you wish me to move, or you do not. I am confused. I am
only a blue. :{
}:All you had to do was go to the other side of me:{ Orlaith watched him,
wondering if the poor blue wasn't very good at making friends. Usually blues
were easygoing but maybe Harloth was different. And showing remarkable deference
for her, Orlaith picked her large mass up and walked on all fours until she was to
Harloth's right. Then she settled back down again, curling until it was hard to
see her head.
}: But if I am moving at all, then I may as well be done. :{ The blue's
neck craned to follow her, more puzzled than ever. This was faintly annoying.
Still, he had tact enough *not* to baldly state that he'd no interest in remaining,
now the peace he'd been feeling was totally shredded.
