**Tell Vilarth I am coming to see her eggs if it is okay** Rhosyn told her
queen and she felt Orlaith's mind shift from her while she spoke to the other
dragon.
}:Vilarth, my rider is on her way to the hatching grounds. She wishes to
see your lovely eggs and make sure you and yours are doing well.:{ Since
that was the Weyrwoman's duty, Orlaith didn't think any other explanation
was needed.
}: _She's_ welcome, :{ Vilarth replied with a tone that indicated Orlaith
herself wasn't welcome. Vilarth didn't mind humans admiring her eggs. It
was the other dragons.
Lenala had made herself comfortable at the Stands. She had hidework, klah,
and sweets. She didn't mind this part of being a goldrider. After all, she
was excused from Falls and drills. Hidework she couldn't escape, but she could
live with that.
It was nice having Lenala grounded since that meant Rhosyn didn't have to
do as much visiting with the injured. Walking into the Grounds, she stopped
to look around. Once the Weyrwoman had located the other goldrider, she padded
across the Sands and stopped in front of the Stands. "Lenala, I've come to see."
She turned and gave a smile to Vilarth.
"Hi, Rhosyn, you're welcome to," Lenala greeted and got up to her feet,
walking to meet the Weyrwoman on the half way. "It's a fine clutch," she
said, gesturing towards the sand-walled nest. She could feel Vilarth's
vigilant gaze following them. Just because Vilarth allowed humans in didn't
mean she was letting down her guard.
"I heard it was a good number. With a young bronze sire, everything should
be well formed I think." Once Lenala had caught up to her, Rhosyn went first
to the gold. "Vilarth, I won't be touching anything but I would like to see."
Her eyes went around the Cavern, noting anything out of order before she walked
around. She turned back to the other goldrider. "She didn't have any problems
laying then?"
"It's a biggest one in a few Turns," Lenala replied, obviously proud of her
lifemate. "No, no problems, it was normal. Took its sweet time but it's normal
to her too."
"Good, we can use the weyrlings of course to fill in spots in the wings,
but that goes without saying." It was clear from the start that there was
no gold egg this time either. Rhosyn began to walk over the hot sands,
mindful of the eggs and inspecting them as she went. It was some time
before she came to a stop before the off color one. "Did you see this one?"
"Yes," Lenala replied and frown appeared. "Vilarth doesn't seem to know how
to treat it. Sometimes she pushes it out of the nest, only to roll it back
in few moments later."
"Is it hardening correctly?" Rhosyn asked, not daring to touch it herself
just yet.
"Actually, it seems to be hard already, which is strange. It's giving me
and Vilarth some concern. Perhaps I should ask Y'gel to see it."
"I think that would be a good decision." Rhosyn looked at the egg one last
time before turning her attention to the others. Overall it was a good
sized clutch and would yield a good bunch of weyrlings. At least Lenala had
improved in this area, thank Faranth.
Lenala nodded and studied the eggs too. She could feel Vilarth's gaze on
them.
"Let me know what he says and if you need anything, you know how to get in
touch with me." She knew the weyr was comfortable and had been aired out since
she'd last used it so Lenala shouldn't find any problems there. "How is Vilarth
doing?"
"Of course," Lenala promised. "She is broody and nervous, otherwise fine. I
have my work cut out when I try to get her out of here to feed and wash."
She rolled her eyes. It was the same every time.
"Mmm...well keep her eating since we can't have her losing much weight."
Rhosyn smiled, knowing how strange sitting queens could act at times. "I'll
leave you be but I'll drop in from time to time and see that you have
plenty to do so you won't be bored. Maybe I'll see you at dinner?"
"Sure," Lenala replied with a nod.
