Teseada

Teseada

"Weyrwoman's second?" Taren looked into the office and the woman sitting in
there. Shards, she was a young one!

"Yes?" Teseada looked up at the man with the healer knots in the doorway.
This had to be the new Weyrhealer, unless she had guessed wrong, but she
supposed he would introiduce himself in due course.

"I'm Taren, the new Weyrhealer, ready to take over the...infirmary," Taren
said. Placing a hand over his chest he bowed and gave her an impish smile.

She smiled back, and got to her feet, shoving a stack of hides aside.
"Please, come in," she said. "Take a seat."

"Thank you," Taren pulled the free chair for himself. "And you would be
Teseada, Onnyth's rider, right?"

"That's right," she said. "Both of us were born and bred here."

"Local gal then. That's good thing, you know the place inside out and the
people too," Taren remarked. "I'm from River Bluff meself, although I've
lived nearly ten Turns in Windswept Islands."

"What brought you here?" she asked. "It certainly can't be our cold, snowy
winters," she joked.

"Certainly not. I'm going to freeze my arse here," Taren replied, delighted
by her show of humour. "What brought me here is bigger weyr, bigger
infirmary, bigger chances for ambitious healer."

"You'll certainly find that here," she agreed with him. "As well as the
normal duties for a weyr, we're within travelling distance of Opal Cove
Hold, so sometimes there is a chance to work with the Healers there and
share expertise."

"That's lovely. You can't get anywhere from Windswept Islands weyr unless
you had a dragon or a ship," Taren flashed her a big smile.

"It's a nice place to visit, but I'd not want to live there," Teseada said,
humour in her tone. "As for Opal Cove, I hear they have a very talented
Dentist there, but I've yet to need his skills."

"Me neither, but it's good to know if I can send patients to him," Taren
replied and mused.

"And you might want to talk to Zessa, she's our top midwife, sometimes we
get calls from the small holds around the area for her to go to difficult
births," Teseada said.

"Of course. I happily leave births to her. That's not my specialty," Taren
replied. He didn't had heart to tell her that Telemon had already filled him
in with these things.

"Have you met the Weyrwoman yet?"

"Oh, yes and she hasn't thrown me out yet," Taren said with merry twinkle in
his eyes.

"That's a good sign," Teseada said with a smile. "Is there anything I can do
to help you settle in?"

"I should probably meet Onnyth. I might be needing her help in some cases
after all," the healer replied.

"I can set that up for a few days time," she said.

"Looking forward to it," Taren said with a flash of grin.

"She likes new people," Teseada told him.

"I like too. I also like dragons, although not enoug to impress a one,"
Taren replied.

"I'm sure you would have made a fine rider."

"Yeah, a bluerider," Taren snorted.

"Some of our best ride blue, but I'm sure you know that."

"Oh, yes, I've met many wonderful blueriders...and greenriders, and brown
riders and bronzeriders and especially gold riders," Taren smiled was
flirty.

"We try," she replied with a matching smile. It seemed this healer could be
a fun companion.
