Description: K'hetah and Janani have a chat
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 2, day 8 of Turn 6
While K'hetah had seen Janani in her travels, and had even taken the
occasion to chat with her for a moment or two, he had not officially
sat down with her since she was confirmed as Senior Weyrwoman of
Dolphin Cove. The hussle and bustle of recent events had left him
quite busy - adaprting to leadership changes, quelling the rumors in
his wingriders, and in general making sure things didn't fall to
pieces.
**Loeth?** he asked, sensing the bronze was once again wallowing in
the water. **Can you see if Angdelouth's rider is available?**
As Loeth passed on the query, he stood up from his desk, stretching a bit.
}:Loeth's wishing to speak with you,:{ Angdelouth told her rider.
Janani, who had decided to enjoy a bit of a luxurious bath in the
afternoon stood with her towel wrapped around her. **Tell him he can
come to my weyr.** She made quick work of drying off and slipping into
a comfortable outfit as she moved into the main area of her weyr.
Picking up her brush, she sat down to comb through the tangles while
she waited for her visitor.
K'hetah's office wasn't terribly far from the Weyrwoman's weyr, and it
didn't take him too long to get there - even without Loeth's
assistance. Despite the fact that Janani knew that he was coming, he
knocked lightly on the door as a courtesy.
"Come in," she called out, running the brush through her hair once
more before setting it down on the vanity and rising to greet him.
"K'hetah, welcome." She gestured that he could come in and make
himself comfortable. "I hope you didn't mind having to come here. I
had decided to take the afternoon off and hadn't been expecting
company. Not that I mind, for I _always_ love good company."
K'hetah smiled, "Well I apologize for visiting you on a day that you
planned to take off, but it seems like our schedules haven't coincided
so well since you got here. I wanted to sit down and get to know you a
bit better, if that's quite alright." He was careful with his tone to
avoid sounding like some young, lecherous bronzerider who merely
wanted to try and seduce the Sr. Weyrwoman.
"Of course," she replied, gesturing for him to come in and make
himself at home. "I hardly ever mind company." **Especially those of
the bronzeriders and wingleaders to boot.**
"How is your wing faring?" She asked as she poured them both a drink.
"We've been doing quite well," K'hetah said. "Injuries have been kept
to a minimum, and this fine clutch of Angdelouth's should put us that
much closer to operating at full capacity." He took the drink, sipping
it slowly. "And the Queen's Wing? How is everything going in your own
wing?"
"All is well," Janani replied, happy that her wing was performing
better than expected. She offered him a drink before the conversation
continued. "So, you mentioned you wanted to get to know me better. I
doubt that discussing wing duties was what you had in mind," she gave
him a small smile at that as she waited to see what exactly he
intended.
K'hetah smiled, "Well, I hardly believe that your Wing duties are the
sole focus of your life, dear Weyrwoman," he said. "Although there are
those that suggest that my Wing duties are the sole focus of my life,
so I could be mistaken!" He took a sip from his drink before adding,
"What did you do before you were a goldrider?"
She chuckled a bit at that. "Not nearly what I would have _liked_ to
have done." She paused for a moment and added, "I learned fairly young
that life in the South wasn't as fair to women as I would have liked.
There was not much hope of my pursuing the things I wished in the
world we live in. I was lucky to be chosen to Stand and to have made
this life for myself."
K'hetah nodded, "It does seem that as time passes it gets a little
better for women," he said. "It's never made much sense to me that a
woman couldn't have children and participate in a craft, but then
again, not all Holders and Crafters believe in fostering. If you
could have done whatever you wanted, what would it have been?"
She smiled, her eyes lighting up at the thought. "Tanner. My father
was one and I found from a young age that I had a way with the fine
leather and design. I would have studied things further after
Impressing, but my time is often filled with other tasks as a
goldrider, even before I became Weyrwoman." Janani paused and looked
at K'hetah. "What about you? What was your life like before you became
a rider?"
"I Impressed late, so I was already a Journeyman Healer when Loeth
found me. I still continued in my studies and was hoping to become a
Senior Journeyman when Thread started. I still think that Healing is
something I would turn to when I retire from the fighting wings
though," K'hetah said.
"It's always good to have healers around, especially in our line of
work," she paused, "I don't think you'll be getting out of the
fighting wings for a good, long time, though." She gave him a slight
wink as she didn't bother to hide her perusal of his fine form.
"No ma'am, luck willing I hope to be leading my Wing for at least a
good number of turns," K'hetah said with a grin. He hadn't overlooked
Janani's wink, but he pretended to, at least for now.
