Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 2, day 13 of Turn 6

Bandages in hand, Angshel looked up at the dragon in despair. The
poor thing was bleeding out on the shoulder and he needed help.
Looking around quickly, he spied a young girl. "Oy! You there, I
need some spare hands!"

Gelira had been busy checking on one of their previous patients when
she'd heard the call. Glancing around, she wondered who the new boy
was talking to, when she realized she was the only one in the area,
she walked over. Her eyes quickly took in the situation and the words
of retort that she'd initially planned to say were quickly forgotten.
"Why are you in charge of this alone?" She demanded, reaching for the
bandages and moving around the boy. Her body language quickly changed
to that of soothing as she stroked the dragon gently, "It's going to
be okay," she whispered, her hands rubbing his hide. "Where's his
rider?"

"Passed out. Threadscore. On his back and shoulder." Angshel only
had time to speak quickly as he worked on the dragon, hoping a
journeyman would come by soon to help. "Bloody wind kicking up.
Always makes for a bad Fall." As she soothed the brown, he stemmed
the flow of blood. Seeing the wound now, it didn't look as bad as he
had first thought. The brown's rider had definitely gotten the worst
of the Thread. If Angshel hadn't been concentrating on the dragon, he
might have thrown up from the sight of it, when they had first landed.
The rider that been taken away to the infirmary, leaving the boy
alone with the dragon.

**Oh shardit,** Gelira thought, **without his rider it's going to be
hard to calm him.** She prayed that the dragon would listen to her
words and take some solace from them. Dragons, could, after all, hear
spoken words, but she just wouldn't be able to hear the dragon in
return. "It's going to be okay. You're rider will be fine and Angshel,
here and I will take good care of you. Just relax and let him look at
your wound." She hoped her words were soothing. The dragons eyes had
stopped whirling so intensely, so she hoped it was helping.

Gelira looked around, but everyone, everywhere was busy with the many
injured who were coming in due to the change in the Fall. Having
determined that there wasn't going to be much help coming their way at
the moment, she moved closer to Anshel. "How bad is it? I think we
should get it dressed and get the bleeding stopped and then once
things calm down we can have one of the journeymen really check things
out?"

"Not too bad...maybe that's why no one has come to help." He briefly
looked about at all the other injured dragons and riders, several of
which were badly hurt. "If you can press here with the clothes I can
put a butterfly bandage on until the Journeymen can come by and stitch
him up."

"Sounds like a plan," Gelira replied, moving to hold the the cloths as
Angshel indicated. "So, you seem to have settled in well," she
remarked with a half-grin on her face. "At least here in the healer
rooms. I've been around these rooms most of my life and haven't seen
newcomers so willing and _able_ to actually help the way you do."

"Oh. Well...thank you." Angshel wasn't used to compliments. "This
is easy compared to what I used to do." The brown was settling now
that his wound was closed up and presumably his rider was being worked
on. That frightening grey ting to his hide was fading away.

"Oh? What did you used to do?" She asked. Noticing one of the
journeymen was free, Gelira motioned with her hand for him to come
over to them. She felt a sense of relief when he noticed her and began
heading their way. She knew they had done the right things for the
dragon, but she also wanted to make sure that someone more qualified
had a chance to check their work and see if there was anything more
that needed to be done.

"Oh...I uh, used to be a drudge. At a Hold south of here." He smiled
at the Journeyman who came in to inspect their work. "He going to be
okay?" He asked the Journeyman.

"Oh, well, whatever you did there must have prepared you for working
here for you handled yourself very well," Gelira remarked with a
smile, standing aside to let the Journeyman access.

"Very good, very good. Both of you. Commendable. Can you escort our
friend here over to area 12. He'll find a nice place to rest for a bit
while his rider heals," the Journeyman looked at the pair of them
before turning and glancing around, "Have to go. See to it that he's
got a proper place to rest." And with that he hurried off to tend to
other dragons.

Angshel grinned at Gelira and softly nudged the small brown to follow
him. "Come on, fella, not long now. We'll get you comfortable and
get some food and water for you."

Gelira followed, doing what she could to help settle the dragon comfortably.
