Reunion

Writers: Len, Paula
Date Posted: 8th July 2011

Characters: Im're, A'shel
Description: Im're is reunited with Gormth!
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 3, day 2 of Turn 6

Im're made his way towards dragon infirmary, limping even with the
crutches with painfully slow pace. He was supposed to exercise that
leg. Healers assured him it would be as good as it was, in time. His
hand was another matter, but even that wouldn't prevent him for
performing his duty as a dragonrider. His fingers just would be stiff
and less nimble, thanks to the damage in tendons.

"Gormth!" he called, eager to see his dragon after so long time.

}:Mine! :{ the blue's delighted mental cry was accompanied with loud
bugle. He rushed forward to meet his rider, and in his jubilant
excitement, he knocked down both the apprentice tending him and his
rider.

"Ouch ouch ou!" Im're leg just didn't like being hit by a dragon. He
found himself flat on the back, with Gormth's head hoovering over his
face. Talk about a welcome!

If only Angshel had just a head over him. "Get off me, Gormth!" He
tapped the foreleg that was just about crushing him.

}: I'm sorry, I'm sorry! :{ Gormth was anguished over the pain he had
cause to his rider.

**That's all right, just back down so I can get up and stop crushing
poor Angshel.** Im're would had laughed if he didn't hurt so much. He
just hoped the wound hadn't opened again.
Gormth moved aside, and Im're wrapped his arm around his neck, letting
Gormth pull him back up.
For a moment, he just hugged him tightly.

Angshel choose to stay on the floor for a moment and get his breath
back. Besides those two needed a quiet moment together again.
Despite the almost crushed ribs he smiled and blinked back a few
tears that had to do more than sore ribs.

After the moment, Im're came aware of his surroundings again. "Hi
Angshel. You all right?"

"Yeah, just laying about." He sat up and scratched his head. "How are you?"

"Better, on my feet as you can see. Unless Gormth sends us back to the
infirmary," Im're replied.

"Hmm.." was all the boy said about that, as he got to his feet. "He
doesn't know his own strength, Gormth."

"No, he doesn't, clumsy beast," Im're said and actually rubbed his
face against Gormth's muzzle.

"Boy, how he's missed you!" Angshel reached up and gave his charge a
pat on the flank. He also reached down and got Im're's crutches for
him.

"And I missed him," Im're said. "Thanks," he smiled at the boy when
he got his crutches back.

"No problem. How are you feeling now?" Im're certainly looked better
than the last time he had seen him.

"My leg is hurting, otherwise I'm fine. Has Gormth lost weight or is
it muscle loss?" Im're replied, looking his lifemate critically. His
own legs looked much thinner than they had been after sevendays of
forced bedrest.

"Erm...it's a bit of both, to be honest. He's been pretty depressed."
Angshel leaned into Gormth and gave him a cuddle.

"Haven't we both?" Im're said and scratched the eyeridge.

The younger lad sighed at that and wanted desperately to give Im're a
hug, but just couldn't bring himself to have that much body contact
with another man. Instead he awkwardly patted the redhead on the
shoulder. "Well, that'll be in the past now, the worst is over now."

"Yeah, we'll be back on the sky in no time. Thanks for looking after
Gormth," Im're said.

"It was a pleasure. He's a very sweet dragon." The boy giggled at
that. "There's some real fussy ones in the infirmary. There's a
little green who thinks she's the Queen, the way she acts, snapping at
all of us and constantly relaying demands through other Healer's
dragons. Thank Faranth she's as tiny a dragon as you could find!"

"Yeah, Gormth is the best," Im're agreed and laughed at his story.

"He is. Wonder when he can fly. Y'gel hasn't said anything to me
yet." He frowned in thought at that.

"I'm sure it won't be long now," Im're said, although he really didn't
have a clue.

"When he does...can I have a flight?" The only time Angshel had been
on dragonback was that first night he was at the Weyr, and he had been
in too much pain to enjoy the experience.

"Of course you can have," Im're promised. "We will take you anywhere
you want to go, don't we?"

Gormth snorted his agreement and nodded his head.

"Whow, that'd be so nice." Already Angshel was imagining what it
would be like, being able to fly wherever you wanted.

"You're welcome," Im're grinned.

"Great, let's go make this guy exercise that wing then."

"Him and me both," Im're agreed.
