Description: J'nor gets to march his troops about in drills on dragonback....but things don't go as planned
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 3, day 1 of Turn 6

**Crap!** was all that got out of G'wen's mind before he felt himself
get pitched over Neath's shoulder. The straps strained but held,
giving the boy a second jolt as he slapped against the big green's
side. Where the belt lay was going to be bruised later. He groaned
and unsnapped himself, so he could fall to the ground. **Next time,
Neath, please let me know when Zoranaith tells us to stop.**

Next to him, S'vin was trying his hardest not to piss himself
laughing. He glanced up to see what poor J'nor had made of that
non-move and hoped for the boy that the Weyrlingmasters had been
looking the other way.

J'nor sort of liked being in charge of the Weyrling drills. He knew
leadership wasn't necessarily in the cards for a bluerider like
himself, but he enjoyed the opportunity all the same. After he gave
the command to stop, he noticed Neath nearly barrel into the dragon in
front of her, causing G'wen to strain heavily against the straps.

"G'wen? Are you alright?" He asked, heading over to check on the other boy.

"If I was a girl that wanted children, I'd say 'no.' But as I'm a boy
that_never_has to worry about that, I think I'm okay." None the less,
G'wen bent over to catch his breath and try and assess his soreness.

Once he was sure that the green weyrling was alright, J'nor said,
"Neath, you need to pay attention for my cues. If that happened when
we were flying, you'd have crashed into another dragon. And G'wen,
double check your riding straps, they shouldn't have that much give to
them."

"You don't say," was all that J'nor heard, as the small greenrider sat
down to get his breath back.

"Psst! J'nor! G'wen!" From his seat on Halanth, N'den could see some
of the Weyrlingmaster staff looking their way. He nodded at J'nor to
do something with the lad on the ground before he got in trouble.

J'nor picked G'wen up with one hand, quickly tossing the boy onto his
dragon's back with the ease that a father would pick up a two turn
old. Leverage and upper body strength had their benefits. Then he
rushed back over to Zoranaith, mounting easily and strapping himself
back in. "Alright, let's try that formation again, but this time
without the accidents."

S'vin rolled his eyes at N'den before nudging Kadeth into the right
line. The more he was with his blue, the more happy he was that
Kadeth had chosen him and not some crazy green like Neath.

}:Halanth is nice. She's smart too.:{

**You like her then?** Inwardly, S'vin was amused, as he stole
another glance at N'den. His green was a lovely little thing, almost
as delicate as Awenth and lighter in colour. His mind strayed into
daydreams as he waited for J'nor's next command.

"Alright. Begin moving in wedge formation at the count of three.
1....2.....3...!" J'nor said. Zoranaith, who was in the lead position,
surged forward, and J'nor could hear the other weyrling dragons
following behind. He stole a glance backwards at the other weyrlings,
seeing how everyone was doing.

This time it was S'vin caught off guard. His head snapped back as
Kadeth took off under Zoranaith's direction. "Ouch!" At that, Kadeth
stopped, not wanting to hurt his lifemate.

And that's when Halanth crashed into him, knocking them both down. At
the last moment, Neath jumped to one side and stopped beside her
clutchmates, looking distinctly smug. On her neck, G'wen looked wide
eyed at J'nor and then down at the carnage.

"STOP!" J'nor called again, sighing heavily as he dismounted from
Zoranaith. "S'vin, what happened are you alright?" He asked, walking
over. He really, really hoped that the Weyrlingmaster wasn't watching
them.

"Bloody oversensitive blue!" S'vin rubbed his neck and gave Kadeth a
playful smack on the shoulder. Poor Halanth and N'den were getting to
their feet, looking a bit confused as to what had happened.

"N'den, are you alright, is Halanth hurt anywhere?" J'nor asked, as
Kadeth looked to be doing alright. He looked over at Neath, and patted
her lightly on the shoulder. "Good evasion Neath, you were really
quick on your feet!" He complimented.

Speaking of feet, G'wen used one of his to tap J'nor on the shoulder.
He didn't say a word but looked from the boy to the Weyrlingmasters
and widened his eyes. One of the assistants was now looking over at
them. S'vin and N'den quickly scrambled back onto their lifemates and
Halanth flapped her wings for a moment, just to make sure they still
functioned.

J'nor got back on Zoranaith's back in record speed, and took a deep
breath before starting the drills once more. **Zora, tell everyone to
pay their closest attention, that they're watching us!** J'nor
directed. Zoranaith passed on the command, and once J'nor felt that he
had everyone's attention, he started them again. "Same drill on three.
1....2....3..." As Zoranaith began walking forward, he closed his eyes
tightly and hoped for the best.

A gaggle of flits chose that moment to fly about Neath's head. She
sat back and snapped at them, hating the sight of any firelizard, let
alone 10 of the bothersome little beasts. The lead flit screamed at
her and flew the troop right at Zoranaith.

J'nor ducked, but still managed to get one of the firelizards stuck in
his hair. "Eeeee!" he shrieked, in a fashion reminiscent of a little
girl. Releasing his straps, he fell from Zoranaith's side, shaking and
flailing about to try and dislodge the little creature. Meanwhile,
Zoranaith bugled his annoyance, successfully ensuring that if everyone
in the area hadn't been watching them before, they were now!

"STOP! Stop!" G'wen slid down from Neath and ran over. "That one is
Swift, T'bel will kill if anything happens to the idiot." He tried to
get the flit out of J'nor's hair but the bluerider was too tall.
Seeing one of the more annoying staff coming their way he did the only
thing he could do, and quickly scrambled up J'nor's back.

"OOMF!" J'nor exclaimed as the smaller boy literally climbed him as if
he was a tree. He stumbled forward a bit at the abrupt change in
weight, but caught himself before the pair toppled to a heap on the
ground. "What are you doing, G'wen?" He asked, trying to figure how
adding a flailing green weyrling to the situation was going to help
any.

"Enjoy the notoriety J'nor, you may be the only boy who ever has G'wen
on his back, and not the other way 'round," S'vin observed dryly.
G'wen ignored him and managed to get Swift out of the bluerider's hair
and safely in his arms. He slid down the boy's back and landed
softly, cooing to airheaded Swift.

J'nor fell to the ground heavily, frustration finally overcoming him.
One of the Weyrlingstaff Assistants was approaching, but quite
frankly, he couldn't care less.

"Is everything alright over here?" El'den, the Weyrlingstaff
Assistant, asked. "You seem to be having some troubles with your
ground drills." He looked at the assemblage of Weyrlings, and found
S'vin, G'wen, and J'nor all off their dragons. He fixed S'vin with a
knowing look. "You causing trouble over here?"

"Heh..if I was causing trouble, you'd know it." He gave G'wen a
nudge, figuring he was more El'den's type than N'den, who just looked
like he wanted to be anywhere but here.

At that nudge, G'wen turned to glare at S'vin. "What?" he hoarsely
whispered. The bluerider nodded towards the staff and winked at him,
trying to convey he should flirt to get J'nor out of the trouble he
was sure the poor boy was about to be in. "As if! You're the one
who's been with him, you do it," he muttered in S'vin's ear.

El'den fixed S'vin with a look that suggested, "Don't you dare make
this personal or you won't like what happens," and then turned to face
J'nor. "Are you having difficulties leading this formation?" he asked.

"No, we're fine with that, people just aren't paying as much attention
as they should since we've been doing the same formations for so
long," J'nor said.

"Well, you're not making much progress standing around," El'den said.
"Why don't you all mount back up and start over, at Doriath's command.
J'nor quickly returned to Zoranaith's back, frustration filling him.
What could he do to make this work out better?

"You doing anything later?" S'vin asked, after jabbing G'wen once in
the back for being a whimp and not flirting. If anyone could save
J'nor's hide, he was down to him, he figured. He leaned against the
staff rider and coyly added, "I've missed you, you know."

"Oh you miss me now, eh? What about those sevendays before you
Impressed where you would ignore me whenever you had someone else
interested? You're lucky you're a good lay," El'den said.

"Well_you_could be lucky, again, if you get my meaning." He gave the
boy a wink and a smile. Beside him G'wen nearly choked on the laugh
that wanted to escape. S'vin turned to eye him. "Maybe we can even
include this one, if you'd like." Wonder if he could include N'den
too? Anything to get them out of this mess. He wasn't above throwing
in J'nor as well.

El'den crossed his arms over his chest. "I see. Well, perhaps you boys
need to stop thinking about how to get one another in the sack, and
start focusing more on your drills. Get back on your dragons and focus
on your task at hand, _Weyrlings_," he said, strong emphasis on the
last word.

"Hey, don't you include me in that statement!" G'wen sputtered
indignantly. "Trust me, I don't want to shag you, or anyone else
here." At that he stropped off to Neath, leaving S'vin looking
sheepishly up at J'nor and shrugging his shoulders. It had been worth
a try.

"Back on your dragons, Weyrlings," El'den reiterated, raising an
eyebrow. J'nor gestured for S'vin to get back on his dragon. The last
thing he needed was for the Weyrlingmaster himself to get upset with
him!
