Description: Daishii is taken to the Infirmary after the Hatching
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 2, day 18 of Turn 6
The Infirmary felt further from the Hatching Sands than Daishii
remembered. But then again, typically when she was making the trip,
she wasn't bleeding, on a stretcher, and trying to calm down an
increasingly unhappy newly hatched dragon. Once they had arrived, the
healers that had tended to her on the Sands carefully set her down on
a bed, and allowed her to feed Kisiloth chunks of meat while she
waited for a Journeyman to come stitch her back up.
Vandor wasn't long, nor was he surprised that he had a patient. He had
more than enough experience with candidates who had gotten in the way
of dragons. Usually, the dragons were going after someone else but
occasionally, as it seemed in this case, the dragonets accidentally hurt
the one they chose.
The big man stepped into the room where the girl sat handing off meat to
the newly hatched creature. "Well now, I heard we had a bit of an
accident." He stated warmly, smiling to the dragonet and stretching
out to touch her. His hands didn't quite come into contact, for he
would wait for permission before his fingers actually touched her.
"What's her name?"
"Kisiloth, sir," Daishii said with a wince. "She seemed confused out
on the Sands, and she gouged me up on my arm and leg pretty good. The
healer on the sands said the wounds were deep, but that I was lucky
she didn't hit anything important,"
Kisiloth's hunger pains beginning to be sated, the green changed focus
to her grief. }:I'm so sorry mine! Please forgive me, I didn't mean to
hurt you!:{
"Oh Kisiloth..." Daishii said, beginning to become overwhelmed. "I'm
not hurt that bad..." It was true, but shards did the claw marks HURT!
"Hello Kisiloth. May I give you a scritch?" Vandor had taken a good
look at the girl's eyes when he spoke with her - she wasn't in any
immediate danger, and the first thing he felt would be best to do was
to get the dragon calmed down.
"You may, she could use some reassuring right now. She's so very upset
that she hurt me," Daishii said. "It's not that bad, Kisiloth, and the
nice man will get me all taken care of. In a few sevendays, you won't
even remember this even happened!"
"Hey pretty one." Vandor let his hand slip over the eyeridges of the
dragon and scritched her gently, his big fingers finding just the right
spot easily. "Now it's all right. Accidents happens - you're not the
first and you'll certainly not be the last. I'm going to take a look
at it and fix everything up so you don't worry your pretty green head
about a thing." His deep voice was almost felt more than heard as he
spoke softly to the creature.
Now that she was sitting still, and the excitement of the moment was
fading, Daishii noticed the pain from her leg, and winced. She knew
that the wound was going to need stitches, as it was quite long.
Kisiloth crooned her concern, but seemed to have calmed down for the
moment.
"All right, let's see you taken care of." That was spoken to Daishii,
though Vandor gave the little green one more scritch before turning to
her rider.
