Description: The brown rider Teseada helped a few months ago takes a hit in Fall
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 2, day 4 of Turn 6
Sputtering, L'fael slid down Eirath's shoulder, landing heavily. All
around the rest of the wing was landing, causing further chaos to his
senses. A stabbing pain in his shoulder told him that Eirath's duck
/between/ hadn't been quite quick enough. The pale brown crooned and
nuzzled his lifemate. "Now now, love, it's not your fault." He
wrapped his good arm around the dragon's jaw for a moment before
trying to wipe away some of the ash that he had taken a faceful of.
"Are you okay?" asked Teseada, a flicker of recognition crossing her face as
she recognised the young brownrider. She put her now empty flame thrower
down. Getting it back could wait a moment.
"I...don't know." The young man blinked and tried to clear his head,
which seemd fuzzy for some reason. "Am I hurt?"
**Onnyth, calm his brown, he could panic if he realises his rider is
distressed,** she promptly asked her gold.
"You don't look so good. I'm going to get you a healer," Teseada turned,
spotting a healer and called out. "Over here, we need help."
"I don't?" It was hard to think. He just wanted to sit and have
a quick nap, if it wasn't for this pain in his shoulder.
"Do you know where you are?" she asked as the healer came over.
"Yeah, I'm in the Weyr." He looked closely at her. "Aren't you the
girl who helped me find my weyr?" He half wondered where it was now.
Beside him, Eirath crooned and nuzzled him.
"Yes," she said simply. He seemed so confused that it wasn't worth adding to
it. "You got hurt in fall. It looks like your brown is okay, but you need a
healer to check you over."
"Okay? Eirath's okay?" The small brown crooned and nuzzled him some
more. He felt some releif as the numbweed was spread on his shoulder.
"He's going to be fine, and I think you will be too," she glanced to the
healer, who nodded at her. "You'll need some rest though.
"Okay..." Now where was his weyr? He blinked at her a few times.
"You're a lovely girl, you know that?"
In another time an place she'd have had the words to respond properly, but
it looked like he needed more to get to his weyr. "I'm sure you're a nice
guy too, but I think you need to get to your weyr. Do you think Eirath can
take you?"
"Does he know where it is?" He looked at her curiously, as the healer
gave him fellis juice to drink. It wasn't helping his usual scattered
brain.
}:Of course I do,:{ the brown said. }:I do,:{ he added to Onnyth.
}:And you can get out of my mind now, I'm not about to panic.:{
}:I know you do,:{ Onnyth wasn't used to the dragons being quite so direct,
but the gold reasoned that it was concern for his rider that had led to the
remark. }I want you to know when you get there. My rider is concerned for
yours.{
}:Can she come with us to make sure he's okay?:{
}:I will ask her.:{
Onnyth repeated the question to Teseada. **Tell him I will.**
}:Okay then:{ The rather delicate golden brown lowered himself down
so that Teseada and his lifemate could get on easily.
Teseada steadied herself, and then helped L'fael onto the brown, loosely
strapping him on. To her he still seemed a little dazed, like he might need
the straps. She seated herself behind him, while explaining to Onnyth that
she needed to help the brownrider now.
**Onnyth, please tell Eirath we're ready.**
At that Eirath opened his wings and took a slight running hop up into
the air, careful not to jar his lifemate. In his mind, he had done
wrong by lingering when he should have gone /between/ and therefore,
injuring L'fael more than what should have happened. As quick as he
dared, he flew them to his weyr, landing as soft as a feather.
"Thank you Eirath," Teseada said aloud, as she eased herself down. "Let me
help your rider now."
}:You're welcome:{ he told her.
Onnyth relayed the comment to her rider even as she unbuckled the straps,
and held out her arm to the young man. "We're here."
"Okay..." With the fellis juice in him, he wasn't feeling steady, to
say the least. He fell against the young woman as he slid off his
lifemate. The excursion of four hours of fighting Thread, the injury
itself and the fellis sapped the last of his will power and he slumped
against her. If she hadn't been there, he might have laid on the
floor and fallen asleep right then and there.
Slowly Teseada helped him to his bed. She got him to sit on it and knelt to
undo his boots. "I'm going to take these off for you and then I'll let you
sleep. Is that all right?"
L'fael nodded, feeling bad that she was having to do something he
should have been able to dof or himself. Then something else hit him.
"Eirath? I still need to take his straps off and give him a wash."
How could he have forgotten? He looked to his dragon, feeling
terrible.
"I'll have one of the candidates deal with it. You rest."
L'fael liked a woman in charge. With a sigh he lay back in the bed as
was asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. }:I'll be okay:{
Eirath told Onnyth. }:I'd rather stay here with my rider than get a
bath.:{
Onnyth had arrived on the ledge by now, there wasn't that much room for her,
with her eggs beginning to show. }:You will have help, the sooner that you
are clean, you can help your rider by not having him worry over you.:{
Eirath snorted softly, clearly unhappy to leave L'fael.
}:I can ask my rider to stay, if you think that would help him?:{ suggested
the gold.
}:She wouldn't mind?:{ Eirath was so grateful that the gold had made
the suggestion, instead of himself. He would go and let someone else
wash and oil him, if he knew that one that had been chosen by a queen
was watching over his rider.
}:She will stay if I ask. Just be quick. I'll have the weyrlingmaster send
some candidates to you.:{
At that the brown flew off to the water.
}:He wants you to wait here while I have a candidate or two bathe him
quickly,:{ Onnyth told her rider after a moment or two. }:I've asked the
Weyrlingmaster to arrange it for right now.:{
**You have?** There was a real note of surprise in her rider's reply.
}:Yes, for the sake of both of them.:{
**Then I'll wait.**
