"Okay girlfriend," S'vin said, wrapping Demalia up in a hug, having
not seen his old friend in ages, "tell this boy how Flights are going
to blow his mind!" He pointed an exasperated thumb at his tiny
sidekick, G'wen. How anyone could be afraid of getting to do_that_was
beyond him. It was getting late, but the boys still had time before
they had to be back in the barracks. And it was too nice a night to be
indoors studying, anyhoo, S'vin thought.

"You mean nobody told him that yet?" Demalia returned the hug. "Or we could
just let him find out the fun way."

"We could..." S'vin glanced back at the annoyed looking G'wen.
Wrapping an arm around Demalia and turning her to face the small boy,
he added, "can you_believe_ he's actually afraid of it? Afraid! Like
some demure little Holder girl, he is!" He shook his head and laughed
when G'wen punched him on the arm.

"There is nothing to be scared of, not if you get someone that likes you as
much as you like them."

"Yeah, but what if you get a bronze rider?" G'wen asked.

"Then you bloody_enjoy_it!" Really, S'vin could name about 20 bronze
boys he would have loved to have been with. "Can you believe him?"

"Believe me, in a flight they don't care because it's all about the dragons,
not them, and the bronze boys can be just as much fun as those riding blue,"
Demalia told him.

"Please, with those big brown eyes of yours, G'wen, you'd_better_hope
you get the bronze boys, otherwise you'll have a line of blue riders
all begging for seconds!" S'vin teased his friend, giggling over the
mental image of G'wen being chased by a herd of blue riders.

Demalia looked at G'wen for a second, and stopped the teasing. "Listen,
sometimes some of the blueriders can get freaked by the idea of ending up in
my bed as much as the bronze riders would be about yours. It doesn't matter
though, it's just for a flight and if you don't want to see them afterwards,
that's fine."

The small lad nodded and turned to S'vin. "Yeah, can you imagine
ending up in a girl's bed?" There, that'd show him.

S'vin glared at him. "You know, you're really a rotten little brat
sometimes, y'know?" G'wen stuck his tongue out at that.

"Nobody knows who your dragon will choose when she rises," Demalia told
G'wen. "All you know is that no matter what, you win."

"Yes, unlike me and my blue..." S'vin loved Kadeth with all he had,
but he privately was more than a bit jealous of G''wen and his always
being the winner of a Flight.

"Better get used to a jump in the lake to cool off," Demalia teased him.

S'vin sighed mightily. "Maybe we can switch when it comes time for
Neath to Rise." He would have so loved to have experienced the thrill
of being a greenrider but that was not to be. Reaching out, he pulled
G'wen into an embrace, wishing the little thing would
just let go for a moment and not stress about things.

"Maybe we need to get you a green flit, then you can have a little bit of
the best of both worlds?"

S'vin eyed Demalia and pulled G'wen to his shoulder. "Now you're
talking! Wonder if it's anything close to having a green."

"Ask T'bel in a few months or so when that crazy bronze of his is old
enough to try and catch a green or a gold. Can you imagine...?" G'wen
laughed, thinking of his father's weyrmate. He'd have to make sure he
was close at hand for_that..if nothing else it could be very amusing.
Snuggling closer into S'vin's side and close to Demalia, he felt safe
with the two, not having to worry about men and all the complications
that went with that for awhile yet.

"It's not quite the same thing, it's more a warm, fuzzy feeling rather than
something as intense as a full grown green rising. But it'll give you an
idea," Demalia explained.

"Well...I've got a warm, fuzzy feeling most of the time!"

"Particularly when you think of that J'klan," G'wen teased, knowing what
a crush his tall friend had on the weyrling greenrider.

"Shhh....you didn't hear that from him," S'vin mock whispered to the
girl, and winked. "We can't let that handsome Smith boy know what's
about to happen to him til it's too late!"

"Is he the tall one with the blonde hair?" asked Demalia.

"That would be the one! Shards, he's cute!" S'vin sighed dreamily.

"...And he's still a virgin..." G'wen offered.

"Not for long he's not!" Not if he had any say in it. The Weyrling
ban would be lifted in only a sevenday. S'vin had been
working hard on clearing the spots on his face, in anticipation of
going back to his favorite activity.

"Maybe I ought to leave you two to it?" suggested Demalia.

"Huh? I don't wanna shag him!" G'wen exclaimed, jumping over to the
girl. "I'm coming with you. No way...J'klan's all yours, S'vin."

"Good, I wasn't planning on sharing anyhoo," the other boy retorted,
adding, "what about N'den? What do you think?"

"Which one is he?" Demalia asked.

"Tall guy, kind of slender, dark hair, long like a Holder," G'wen
offered whilst S'vin flushed and shook his head. Back when the holder
boy had first shown up, S'vin had made it clear he had thought the boy
was lovely..and there had begun the trouble between N'den and the gay
Weyr boys, ending in him almost catching and beating G'wen up, to
which N'klar had thankfully stopped before the beating had begun.Since
he had Impressed his delicate little green, the young man had seemed
almost beaten in his demeanor. No doubt he had been one of hundreds
of Hold boys who thought they could fool the dragons. But it never
happened.

"Oh, I think I know the one you mean - he tried to hit on one of my
wingmates." Demalia had a wicked look on her face. "She told him he could
take a long trip /between/ first."

"And all along he was just begging for a man..." S'vin added, more
than a hint of glee in his tone. "Wonder if we could contrive to get
him with that F'teller? Shards knows, he'd know he'd been shagged
with that one!" The boy laughed, more than once the happy recipient in the
bed with that big boy. He eyed G'wen. "Hmm...wonder if we could
get_you_with F'teller too? Shards knows, he'd have fun with you!"

"Don't do that to him," Demalia advised. "N'den maybe, but not G'wen."

"You're no fun!" S'vin rolled his eyes and glanced over at G'wen.
Whilst he was tempted to throw the lad to the mercies of some
aggressive blue rider, he wouldn't really. Now N'den....

G'wen saw that looked and added, "not_even_N'den, S'vin. Be
nice..it's not his fault the way he was raised."

"He might learn one day to accept just who and what he is now. A dragonrider
is somebody, and he needs to learn that." Demalia was serious about that.

"Exactly." G'wen nodded, fixing S'vin with a stern look. Or as stern
as he_could_look. "Just because he was so awful to us when we were
candidates doesn't mean you should now turn the tables and make his
life horrible. I think its hard enough for him now." He was thinking
of the story J'nor had told him about his father disowning him right
after the hatching. For all they knew, the same could have happened
to N'den as well.

"Just treat him as a colleague, Faranth knows I had enough trouble from my
mother when I impressed Tapheth."

"And besides..half the time those guys are so horrible is because they
have a crush on the person they're hurting. So since it was you that
he first had an issue with..." G'wen let his voice trail off and allow
S'vin's oversexed imagination to take over. If he started having
'feelings' for the former Holder then all thoughts of F'tellen and
what he could do to N'den would be forgotten.

"Maybe he's right S'vin. You better be careful..."

S'vin glared at the two of them. "Since when have you guys become old
Auntie sits by the fire?" He threw up his hands. "You two are now
officially no fun."

"Give it a week..he'll have forgotten everything we said..." G'wen
nudged Demalia and rolled his eyes.

"Until you get _the_ lectures from E'naer," she said. "Unless you had it
already and that's what brought this conversation on."

"Y'mean_that_lecture..the one that makes all the greenriders go pale?"
S'vin cackled. "Yeah we had that one a while back. Some of the
bronze boys were just as amusing to watch as the green ones!" At
that, G'wen punched him in the arm. Hard.

"I remember," she said. "All I can tell you is that reality can be far far
better than whatever he told you."

S'vin sighed mightily. "Rub it in, just go on."
